  1. Consider snagging one of these in the 9025 size while they're still in the Bargain Cave.http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?id=0053583122676a&navCount=1&podId=0053583&parentId=cat601360&masterpathid=&navAction=jump&cmCat=MainCatcat21404-cat21406-cat601360_TGP&catalogCode=9IS&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat601360&hasJS=true I just got one last week and spooled it with Sufix 10 lb braid (4 lb dia.) I throw a lot of stuff on 1/16 oz jigheads. This is my third Flooger, they're excellent reels. At 6.5 oz, it's next to nothing. Go with what you want on the rod, mine is going on an Avid.

  4. If you take the time to PROPERLY adjust the STX, you'll have no problem. I can cast unweighted plastics around 50' easily. Large baits ? how much line ya got ?

    Jigs

Define "vegetation" Grass is ok for the proper jig. Thick, soupy scum like we have a lot of up here is not. The jig gets buried immediately making it useless.
  6. Revos should have the cast control cap (the small knob on the same side as the crank handle) set so that you have to shake the rod tip a bit to get the bait to drop. Any looser and chances for a backlash increase. People who complain about Revos backlashing often overlook this adjustment. They set the knob so the bait drops under it's own weight. That can be too loose for this reel.
  7. Get the Triumph. It's not St. Croix's top rod, but it's an excellent rod at that level. I've had one for years. Also has a five year warranty. I'm not too impressed with the F&S gear I've seen at Dick's.
  8. One of these http://*.com/crawtube slathered up with attractant (for lube) on your rig would go through nicely. They're good for this application as they have extra thick heads and thick walls. Plus fish flat out crush 'em
  9. The car of choice for mowing down people on a busy sidewalk or driving through the front of a convenience store.. Buicks are for the rich. I prefer a 1972 Ford LTD myself. In that not quite lime green color. Barnaby Jones drove a '72 LTD

  13. Every winter all reels get torn down to the frame for clean and lube. Rods get washed down and dried. Rods and reels get a coat of car wax. Rods are stored upright in a rod rack I made from PVC pipe. They never lean on anything.
  14. Got stopped for speeding a few years back. When the cop asked me if he knew why he pulled me over, I said "Well, you don't have a gigantic cardboard check with my name on it for $1,000,000, so you aint the prize patrol. I guess I was driving over the speed limit a bit" He laughed and said something along the lines of "aint heard that one yet" and let me go.
  15. Your life as you know it is about to be turned upside down...in a mostly good way. Best of luck to all.
  16. LOL, maybe with less filters too. ;D And no "what's better, brand x or brand z" threads...
  17. this is not true. I have used both extensively and the senkos are much softer and have much more wiggling action as they fall. I'm not saying they are made by two completely different companies, but the material they are made up of is definitely different. Dude, it has been discussed ad nauseum and confirmed by GYCB pro staffers and by GYCB itself, GYCB Senko and Kinami Flash is the same bait. READ is there a possibility that wal-mart carries very old products then? I am playing with a bag of senkos and a bag of kinami baits and they are VERY different. I'm talking the kinami bait is MUCH stiffer and I even placed them in water and it has significantly less action than the senko. It would be possible to argue that this bag could have been a bad batch, but I have also noticed this in the past as well, although I have not thoroughly tested it before. I'm sorry, but I simply cannot believe they are the same. Maybe my wal-mart is just scamming me also, just ripped them apart and they even rip differently. the kinami bait flakes off easier and the senko is stretchier. I'm not saying the GYCB staff is lying when they said they are manufactured the same, but when they arrive in MY hands through wal-mart and are used for fishing, there is a solid difference. It could be as simple as they were manufactured months apart, or a slight variation in the plastic mixture. If you make thousands and thousands of anything, you will never get 100% conformity.
  18. Good advice so far. Don't make the mistake of trying for phenomenal distance. Work on your casting method, distance will follow as you get better and incrementally back the brakes off.
  19. Yeah, ok. Until a couple of inexperienced yahoos who think they're gonna get rich selling gator hides get themselves ate up. Then they could hook up in the afterlife with the ghost hunter guy who got flattened by a train (see Micro's thread in this section) and discuss stupid ways to get killed.

  21. Truth be told, we were extremely lucky to get as far as we did last season. The Boston series was one for the ages. Bringing in Laviolette was the best thing they could have done. Hopefully we'll have another good year.
