  1. It's basically the same thing. The Tru Turns work great other than the fact you can watch them rust before your eyes. They are some fish stickin' hooks though... Maybe the Eagles are made better. What do you have to lose ?
  2. Don't laugh until you tried this. Save your torn up stick worms (senkos, dingers, whatever) and tear off the last 2", preferably the tail end. Rig straight on a jighead. I kill 'em with this. I don't know why, there is no action at all, but it works. Straight retrieve, yo yo, it doesn't matter. I use 1/16 oz for panfish and 1/8 to 1/4 oz for bigger fish. I've nailed plenty of 3 to 4 lb bass on the 1/16 oz so expect anything.
  3. Are they similar to these ? http://ttiblakemore.com/shop/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=3
  4. ^These^ Them ^ Those ^
  5. I did some work on a fishing yacht this past summer and I noticed they had a couple of rigs with Stellas mounted to them. The captain said they were one of the worst reels for saltwater he's dealt with. *note* private yacht, not a charter or headboat where the gear gets abused daily.
  6. I have an older Micro Lite ultra lite. I've caught literally hundreds of fish on it from gills to an 8# carp. For the price you can't beat it. One thing that concerns me is that it appears they have started using all metal thin wire guides. Mine has guides with inserts. Maybe someone at BPS could confirm this.
  7. I don't think an animal that is capable of licking it's undercarriage knows what a foul odor is.
  8. Cross contamination is a fact of life in this age of global shipping. Hell, it's been going on for centuries as long as man has been sailing the oceans in search of new lands, bringing with them their native plants and animals. Aren't LMB considered an invasive species in Japan ?
  9. I've never understood that swing for the fence hookset you see the pros do at times. I laugh because I swear they're doing it for the camera. Drama queens I understand some baits (jigs in particular) with heavy gage hooks require more force to penetrate the jaw, but come on. Braid is the last thing you want to swing hard with.

  12. Yes. Especially if there are felt pads as part of the drag stack.
  13. Good tip. I still sharpen my hooks, most around here would rather throw them out. A sharp hook is a sharp hook. I know you can't duplicate Owner's point at home. I know about chemically sharpened hooks so save your breath. Don't break my nuggets for sharpening my hooks at home and I won't break yours for tossing them out.... :-X
  14. You're thinking of a for - profit tech school. What I'm talking about is part of our public school system. There is no cost to attend. I know what you're talking about though - I got my Diesel Technology 'degree' ;D at Pennco Tech. I went there on a full grant after being laid off from General Electric.
  15. D*mn slonezp, took the words out of my mouth. I had a hundred jobs throughout my late teens / early twenties. College was not an option for me. I became a mechanic at 28. I'm 46 now and at times I feel 86. I spent 14 hours on a crude oil barge last Thursday in 25* with a howling wind off of the river. Sound fun ? I make good $ doing what I do, but I thank God I have daughters. I would never let my son follow me into my career. I always joked if I had a son and saw him with a wrench in his hand I'd beat him with it until he crapped himself. Rootbeer, don't throw away an opportunity ever.
  16. duz thit thing got spel chek ?
  17. Uh oh....I think I know what the meaning of "One foot in the grave" is :
  18. My oldest daughter is in the process of trying to get into a new medical arts program at our county vocational school. This particular course only admits 15 high school freshmen a year. If accepted, she will spend 2 to 3 days a week at medical facilities throughout the area. Among many things they will be exposed to, they will also be able to sit in the theater of an operating room to watch an actual open heart surgery take place. The chief surgeon will be wired to take questions from the students while he is working. They will still have the mandatory math, english, social studies, etc. Students who complete four years of this course will be able to graduate with up to 25 college credits. Talk about a head start When I was in high school back in the late 70's - early 80's, vocational school was for the most part a dumping ground for the so called "bad kids" that the regular schools didn't want to deal with anymore. To be fair, I knew quite a few people who went there and did quite well for themselves, but it always had a reputation as a rough school. Times have changed. Now the curriculum is heavily technology based. They only accept students with good grades and no disciplinary marks on their records. It's one of the best kept secrets in our area. What are the vocational / technical high schools like in your area ? Did any of your kids go ?
  19. Well done Bravo ! My oldest daughter plays flute. Her middle school Christmas concert is next week. It's cool to see how young musicians progress from grade school on through high school.
  20. Can't have mayo anymore, egg allergy.. But Franks is awesome hot sauce. Makes a killer wing sauce. Plus it's got zero preservatives or chemicals.
  21. Most of the better jobs are never posted on websites or classifieds because employers don't want to deal with a large amount of people of which only a tiny percentage may even be of interest to them. Connections, networking, whatever you want to call it is sometimes the only way in. I'm fortunate to be in a field where there is always an open door somewhere. We rarely advertise when an opening comes up, we can usually fill the spot by making a few phone calls.
  22. It's inside next to the anti - nagging earplugs.
  23. Years ago I worked at a Sears Paint and Hardware store - basically a self standing larger version of the hardware section of a Sears dept. store. After a big storm, there would be a run on chainsaws. Then within a week, many of them would come back for "no start, runs bad, etc." They all got their money back. Every saw started on the first pull...what do you think : Back to the subject. Stihl is ok. Most pros use Husquevarnas. I would get a 16" bar, it's a good size for most saw work. I don't want to be Mr. Obvious, but keep a sharp chain and be real careful.
  24. "Watch out where the huskies go and don't you eat that yellow snow" - Frank Zappa 8-)
  25. It's completly normal. It's called expanding your horizens. There's a lot worse things you could be involved with. You're fine.
