  1. May the rods in every body's engines stay straight and the ones in their hands stay bent Here's to a good 2011
  2. A drunken alcohol stealing monkey covered in crabs? The ultimate revenge. I think I may have left the bar with her one night many, many years ago... :-X Well, you are from Jersey. Home of the infamous "Snooki." It's a Jersery thing..... ;D It would take a ridiculous amount of alcohol to get me to go home with that

  4. That clinches the deal for me. I've been fishing with Sufix Performance braid for a couple of years and love it. A slow sinking version would slow the rate of fall on my new Strike King 1/16 oz micro jigs. Slow falling jig + Net Bait Paca Chunk arms flapping = fish on
  5. My '09 STX has no problems at all. Two things to keep in mind about these. 1) Mine was way overlubed out of the box. A thorough cleaning and lube did wonders for performance. 2) When setting it up, the procedure for an '09 Revo is a bit different than for other brands. Set the mag brake to 0 %, then set the cast control cap so that you have to shake the rod tip to get the bait to drop. If it drops on it's own without shaking the rod, it's too loose. Then set the mag brake to where you want it. That little bit makes all of the difference
  6. Yo Zuri are good baits. The Pin's Minnow is a killer stickbait. I have some of their tiny cranks and they are fine baits.
  7. Don't be a tease. Some links would be nice
  8. This is the absolute truth. This quote should be memorized by anyone that owns an engine. It is the same amount of time to break an engine down to replace the piston rings. However, if rings were the only part replaced, it is NOT an overhaul. It's a ring job. Any knowledgeable mechanic will tell you a ring job is a band aid at best and not try to pass it off as an overhaul. This is often done by people looking to sell a boat with a smoking engine that they know will not sell as is. Often new rings will cure smoke issues long enough for the check to clear and then you're on your own. I've been involved with several disputes between boat buyers and sellers when my engine surveys (borescope inspections, compression tests) showed serious issues that contradicted the stated condition of the engine. You as the customer have the legal right to have any and all used parts returned to you. The moral of all of this is to educate yourself. It's the only way to protect yourself. If you don't know something, ask. If that annoys the guy doing the work, time to find another mechanic.
  9. For me anyhow. I was in Dick's tonight burning up a gift card and came across these: http://www.strikeking.com/tips/bitsy_bug.shtml I grabbed half a dozen in 1/16 oz- 6 black and 6 black/blue flake. I know they're not new, I have several in 1/8 and 3/16 oz, I just didn't know they came in 1/16 oz. I love light tackle fishing and I know these will be a killer for me this season. I like jigs fine, the problem is most of the waters I fish become choked with snot algae by late June, rendering most jigs useless as they foul immediately. These mini jigs should be the ticket. Now to find a suitable trailer. I'm thinking a 2" Netbait Paca Chunk would be the perfect one for this jig.
  10. I'm a diesel mechanic, no experience with outboards, but was it broken in per the manufacturers (or rebuilders) recommendations ? Proper break in is critical for piston rings to seat properly.
  11. I own an Avid and a Falcon Lowrider. The Lowrider is just below the Cara in Falcon's lineup. The Avid is a fantastic rod, no doubt. Plus St. Croix's customer service is second to none in my opinion. My Falcon is a great rod also. Falcon doesn't get the glory St. Croix and Loomis does, but that should not factor in your decision. I don't think you could go wrong with either.
  12. Two people can fish out of a 12', but you have to be aware at all times what the other guy is doing. It's not the best way to fish but it can be done. As for loading a jon in a truck, make sure you attach a red or bright orange flag or piece of fabric to the end that sticks out so vehicles behind you can see it. In some places it's the law.
  13. What he said. Don't obsess over colors. There's too many and you'll go insane. Don't forget white grubs though
  14. I just received one I ordered last week : http://www.cabelas.com/product/Fishing/Tackle-Storage/Tackle-Bags%7C/pc/104793480/c/104777280/sc/104619780/Cabelas-Advanced-Anglers-Pro-Series-Tackle-Bags-with-Boxes/703137.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Ffishing-tackle-storage-tackle-bags%2F_%2FN-1100378%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_104619780 I got the smallest size as I fish from a kayak, plus I don't like to carry a ton of tackle. The bag is made of heavy gauge material. As you can see in the photo, the zippers are nice and beefy with molded plastic pulls on them. Even though I went with the smallest one, it's got many of the same features as the larger ones, such as multiple external pockets and a pliers holder. Overall it appears to be a very well made bag. I went with the Cabela's bag based on my owning their Advanced Angler Series fishing backpack for several years. I had no problems at all with it and was impressed by the quality. One thing that may be of concern to some, myself included, is that it is not waterproof. This is easily taken care of with a can of Scotchguard or similar waterproofing spray. *note* Cabela's does offer a line of stormproof bags. I got my bag on sale for $19.99, which included 4 Plano 3500 hinged boxes. The whole lineup is on sale now. Of course this is not a complete review as I have not used it yet, I'll use it for a season and see how it goes. I have not ever had any issues with Cabela's products, hopefully that will continue.
  15. A blind guy walks into Sears and picks his seeing eye dog up by the tail and starts swinging him around. A manager immediately runs over and asks "Can I help you ?" The guy says "Nah, just lookin' around" ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
  16. Fixed. They got between her hands and mouth. Didn't stand a chance... :'(
  17. Anything after last season has got to be an improvement. When you're face down in the gutter, there's nowhere to go but up ;D

  20. I'm gonna sticky this post for when I'm feeling miserable. It will remind me I don't have it so bad
  21. I can't even say the name without my gay gag reflex kicking in...
  22. If you do decide to try it youself, try and get access to a copy machine that has the ability to enlarge images and have several blown up copies of your reel schematics made. They're easier to read and you can make notes on them without wrecking the original. Also pay very close attention to every single part you remove as to it's orientation. A lot of schematics don't show the individual detail of each part, but there can be a difference.
  23. I have some old worms with those exact same rattles in the tail. I'd have to dig them out to find the brand name. They have to be at least 20+ years old.
  24. A clean and lubed reel is a happy reel. The performance difference from a dirty reel to a maintained one can be very noticable. I do a complete teardown, clean and lube every winter myself. Most guys here opt to send them out. It's the best money you'll spend, and it's actually pretty inexpensive.
