  1. It looks like a trilene knot doubled up.
  2. Oh yeah, been using that stuff for years. Hey Muddy, you gonna finish them french fries ??
  3. I'm with the crowd on this one. We all benefit from their liberal return policy. If it gets abused, they could toughen up.
  4. I'd buy 'em. Guess I have to learn Japanese first. Anybody know if they're available in the US ??
  5. If you're worried about tearing up your stickbaits, get yourself some Pro Softbait Glue- it's a superglue made just for soft plastics. It works like a champ. Save all of your torn up worm pieces and glue them back together in different color combinations and lengths. It's about six bucks a bottle, it will pay for itself in no time.
  6. I'm 117 years old sonny. Respect your elders.
  7. Aint them Trions the cat's a** ? I have the little 4725gx on a BPS 6' Microlite ultra lite rod and man did I catch a ton of fish on it this year. I caught 3#+ bass, 20" pickerals and just about everything else and that little reel never broke a sweat. It was my first Pflueger, but for sure not my last. A $40 reel that acts like a $100 reel.
  8. Silver and gold are notoriously difficult colors to work with either from a spray can or a jar, they just are more "watery" than other colors. Take the advice about surface prep and priming, maybe pick another color scheme ??? Good luck.
  9. Simple Green has worked well for me. It won't damage plastics either, plus it's biodegradeble
  10. Found 330 yd spools of Sufix Elite at the local Wally World for $4.00, which is roughly half price. They must be dumping their fishing gear for the winter, it's just about wiped out. Have not tried Sufix yet, have been a diehard Trilene fan forever, but for four bucks how can you go wrong ?
  11. Gotta go with the Flooger.
  12. Make sure that's legal to do in your state. It's illegal in many states.
  13. I've been a night fisherman for over 20 years now. I stick with the usual topwaters and worms, sometimes throw 1/8 oz jig with a shad body. All have been productive. I did stumble on something new (at least to me) this year. Strike King makes a 2.5" tube called a Bitsy Tube. I rig it weightless on a #2 straight shank wire hook by Gamakatsu. Ya gotta throw this with light gear. Anyway, it floats. I just twitch it very lightly and have gotten vicious strikes on it. It's got me several 3 lb + fish, (not bad for Jersey, probably bait in Fla ;D) This rig works for me when my Rapalas and Jitterbugs are not getting it done. Maybe it's because it's a real light presentation, or they are just not used to seeing it.
  14. Same thing with the Dick's here in South Jersey. They are loaded up for hunting now, won't see a good tackle selection until mid to late March.
  15. Fishing in the rain rules !!! I had one of my best days this year in a downpour throwing 5" Yum Dingers. They were crushin' em as soon as they hit the water.

Frog toggs are good for the boat or bank, but will tear easily in the woods if snagged on a branch.
  17. Thanks to all for the feedback. I found out through a little more research that this is not a "supertuned" reel in the traditional sense (the gears have not been filed or polished or whatever is done after leaving the factory) It seems to be an Advantage reel with some upgrades. I'm new to this, correct me if I'm wrong. One last question : The spec page for this reel shows line weight and capacities for 12 & 14 lb line. If I wanted to, could I spool 10 lb test IF THE ROD IS RATED FOR 10 lb ? The rod I'm looking at is an Avid AVC66MF (10 to 17 lb, 1/4 to 5/8 lure weight) I understand the importance of staying within the line weight limits as shown on the rod, how does this work for baitcasters? Any harm in going to 10 lb even though 12lb is the lowest weight shown ?
  18. This must be a "sleeper" of a reel. I am getting back into baitcasting after a looooooong time away, and this one is on my short list. I am considering the Revo sx also, but this one definately has my interest.
  19. Anyone out there have one of these? Looking for feedback from people that have them. From what I've seen written online, it seems like a decent reel with mostly positive reviews. By the way, what (if any) is the difference between Daiwa and Team Daiwa?
  20. Good old reliable rubber worm. Also hard to beat the already mentioned inline spinners ( I personally like Panther Martin) Inline spinners are killers for ALL species. Just be sure to attatch a ball bearing swivel to them. This will just about eliminate line twist.
  21. A beer in one hand and a burrito in the other.... A balanced breakfast.
  22. Pflueger doesn't make a reel called the "Element" As for the Purist, it seems to be a lower to middle of the line reel. Cabela's has 'em on sale for $59, down from $79.
  23. Is there an advantage to going to a "superline" for my ultra light and light tackle spinning setups ? (4 to 6 # test). Will I see more or less casting distance ? Any line handling issues ? I understand the advantages over mono, especially when used with baitcasting gear. I have no problem with mono, just wondering if I can get the all the advantages of a superline with smaller gear.
  24. This is my first year with a Pflueger (Trion 4725gx for ultra lite). Fantastic reel. Will be moving up to the Supreme when I put my next combo together.
