  1. All the lakes are still frozen, but the river is open. There are rainbow and smallmouth. I'm a newbie so don't know what sort of presentation to use in moving current, ie; cast upstream and let it drift down, cast downstream and retrieve? You get the idea. I'm figuring on using some Rapala type lure and/or soft plastics. Thanx!
  2. Thanx Catt and Popeye. I really appreciate the help. I an a true newbie. Just got out with a friend a few times last year and got hooked (no pun intended.) Been a flyfisher for lots of years, but am really looking forward to going after some bass, crappie and pike this season. I know I will be spending some time on these forums learning the ropes. Thanx Again!
  3. The donut I have is 18 lbs. How heavy do I need. How about using the one I have in the stern and getting a new fluted or river anchor for the stern? Thanks for the reply.
  4. I have a 13 1/2 foot Boston Whaler. It currently has an electric anchor system, with the anchor coming down off the right front of the boat. It is a donut type anchor. It didn't take long last year to realize that one anchor would not hold me in position. Do you advise putting a second anchor off the back? If so, should it also be on the right side of the back or left side? I Don't want another electric system. I also feel that a different type anchor might be better, at least at one end of the boat. What type would you recommend. Most of my fishing is on lakes with varied bottoms. Sorry that was so long winded, but wanted to be as clear as possible. Thanx! A Bunch.
  5. I am just getting started in the warm water fishing thing and will probably have a million questions. But to start with, I have a 13 1/2 foot Boston Whaler with a Humminbird 400TX fishfinder. I think the transducer may be damaged since I don't get very accurate depth readings. I'm thinking of getting a new color finder, or at least replace the transducer. I've seen lots of mention of mounting the transducer to the trolling motor rather than on the boat. Is there an advantage to that? Would it require additional cable length on the transducer to accommodate for the turning of the motor? Also, any opinions on the Lowrance H2O c gps? Thanx! in advance.
  6. I've been getting antsy to get the boat out so have been driving to a number of local Spokane lakes. Unfortunately all a still covered in ice. That includes Liberty, Medical Lake and all others near there, the South end of Coeur d'Alene, etc. You get the picture. However, the Spokane river is open in some parts. You might try plastic worm type gear fished fished slow for smallies.
