  1. I hear and read about the wonderful effects of 'crashing' a crankbait, but can't piece together the whole treble hook + timber combination. As new to this crashing technique, i tried to crash my crankbait in about 4 feet of water only to find myself getting hung up and losing my crankbait. Obviously one is going to lose crankbaits using this daring technique, but it almost seems pointless if i'm only going to get hung up. I'm not discouraged, but am wondering if their are any tips or modifications like taking off back treble hook or something...idk Any pointers or success stories would be appreciated
  2. i've owned a cavitron buzzbait in black/black blade, but lost it to a large fish with 2 old line night fishing :-/ ..(yeah i know), and was wondering what the specific purposes for the red blade and for the gold blade are? i'm rather inexperienced with buzzbaits and any help would be more than appreciated Thanks, Alex
  3. makes sense. thank yall for the quick responses
  4. It's very warm down here in south Louisiana. It's not just redness, they have kinda a pus-like material on the lips.
  5. I fish in a local manmade pond thats approx. 11 yrs old. I went fishing this weekend caught 9 and about 3 or 4 of them had these disturbing red fungus-like looking stuff on the front of their lips. its almost like a fish herpes.. its quite disgusting. i do not think that these are damages from eating forage, and the first 2years i fished this lake i NEVER saw anything similar to what i saw the other day. anyone know of what this can be? Thanks, Alex
  6. appreciate all the quick results. i was piddling with the jigs tonight and i trimmed the weedguard to a lil above flush with the hook. i also wanted to "fan it out" like a few of yall mentioned, so i put a single drop of super glue on the bottom of the weed guard and worked it into a fan. seemed to work real nicely. thanks again oh, and what trailers are you guys having success with?
  7. I'm relatively new to fishing with jigs. I just purchased a few jig-x's and was wondering what kind of modifications yall do to your jigs (for mostly dirty water in my case) I plan on using the yum chunk in 2 3/4 in. Thank you, Alex
  8. Wow, i appreciate all the quick replies. I'll be sure to try all of the above, and come back with a report Thanks again
  9. I've been recently fishing about a 4-5 acre, man-made pond no more than 15 feet deep in the middle. There are no boats allowed, so you can only fish from the shore. With that in mind I've been catching most of the fish on a T-rigged plastics along the shoreline, and sometimes on a topwater popper. Most of the fish I catch are very small and aggressive, averaging about a pound (if that with some). I've also thrown shallow cranks with hardly a nibble, and i can't figure out a way to catch fish in the deeper water towards the middle. Many people have caught huge fish all on texas rig thrown from the shore, but i have a feeling that those are rare occasions and that those mature fish dwell deeper for the majority of their time. **Usually always windy, and hot temperatures here in Louisiana. Also, there is NO STRUCTURE WHAT SO EVER, but one obvious dropoff with which the t-rig has failed to produce. Any help or suggestions on lures & techniques would be more than welcomed **Feel free to share your favorite pond lures & experiences too Thanks, Alex
