  1. I have played guitar now for about 12 years and I have absolutely loved every minute of it.
  2. Yeah mine has that logo and such on it. Thanks for the input guys. I was actually wondering what everyone that used these rods thought of them. Like I said, I use mine for walking topwaters and throwing cranks and it really has saved me from scuffing my other, much nicer rods when I fish from the bank. I think for 25 bucks its a pretty good rod.
  3. I saw one of these a few months ago at a local tackle shop. They are one fo the best looking reels I have ever seen. I have wanted one really bad since then but I haven't been able to talk myself into paying that much for a reel. Let us know how it treats you.
  4. Hey guys I am new to the forums. I did a search and couldn't find anything on these rods. I bought one at Dick's about a year ago and it has been a really nice rod. Durable and cheap! I paid 24.00 for a 6' medium action rod that had 9 Fuji guides. Its also an IM-7 but I kinda believe this doesn't really mean that much. I don't know how sensitive it is because I only throw topwaters and crankbaits with it. Do you guys have any experience with these rods? I have heard they are made by Northwest Outfitters but I am not sure. I think Quest is actually a fly rod company too but I have no idea. Thanks guys.
  5. Me and one of my buddies went out Saturday too. We launched at about 8:00am and stayed out until about 7:00pm that evening. We were cranking and thowing spinnerbaits early too with no luck. At about 9:30 I pitched a jig and pig into a laydown and caught a 13 incher. Later that day I was flipping some timber and a 5lb. channel cat hit my jig as I reel it in. That was pretty much the only action of the day. It was windy and the water temps were in the low to mid 60s. I have no idea why they were not biting. It seemed that everyone else on the lake was getting blanked too.
  6. This is a very good choice. P-line CX Premium is a common choice here in Texas, and is limp and strong. I prefer CXX, but I don't mind a little memory to gain a no-nonsense line that is almost indestructible. Being fairly new, I just wanted to confirm your choice is very recognizable as a choice made frequently here in big bass country. Thanks a lot, man. I appreciate the heads up. Its nice to know I have found a well liked line that can stand up to some of those Texas hawgs. Should handle these Eastern Kentucky 3lbers without much a problem then, huh?
  7. Big Tom you should head to wood creek lake. Thats where your state record was caught in 1984. 13.10 is the record, so I'm guessing there's not a ton of 10+ in your state. Welcome to the club. Our Colorado state record is 11.5 pounds, I assume that's about the same size as the swimbaits "Fish Chris" uses to catch his monsters. T I have been meaning to get to Wood Creek. A few years ago, the Kentucky Dept. of Fish and Wildlife built a lake just for Trophy Bass fishing but it isn't old enough to have many huge ones in it. I am aiming for a five pounder this spring. If it happens it will be the biggest fish I have caught so far in my entire one year bass fishing experience. By best thus far was a 2.5 pounder I caught a couple of weeks ago. Pretty sad I know but the big ones are coming. Sorry to hijack they thread. Great read hawg caller. Pretty quality stuff there.
  8. Shoot, I do my fishing in Kentucky and due to my inability to catch any large bass, I have decided that there must not be any 10 pounders in this state because I know I am not doing anything wrong! I do find myself wondering just how many ten pound plus fish there are in my home waters.
  9. This is my second year of Bass fishing seriously but I have tried all kinds of line. My current favorite is 15 pound P-line CX premium. Its pretty inexpensive, practically disappears in water and has a smaller diameter than most other lines (this is much more apparent in the lower pound tests though). It also has good abrasion resistance. Theres my two pennies. I fish with a bunch of my buddies and I think we all have different lines that we choose to use. I am still in the feeling out stages though and have spent a fortune on different lines already this year.
  10. If you go, good luck and I can explain the location of this grass flat to you. Its on the main lake so its extremely easy to get to.
  11. Cave Run Lake isn't ate up with weeds or anything but it has one very large flat containing a large weed bed (probably a couple hundred yards long and at least 70 yards wide) that holds a huge population of Bass and Muskie. I don't know if those estimates are anywhere close to correct though. I have only fished the actual weed bed twice. A lot of Muskie guides catch five and six pound bass out of it around this time every year. Cave Run is about an hour and a half from you.
  12. Hey everyone...long time reader, first time poster. As an owner of just about every Bass Pro Rod, I would say go for the Extreme. I own the 7' MH in both rods and the Extreme is quite a bit lighter and more sensitive. Much better buy.
