  1. Hi gang, I'm doing pretty decent in this years bfl coangler standings, and I would love to get out on the water before the next tourney to sharpen my skills. If anyone has an open seat in the coming days/week (minus Saturday), I would love to tag along. I'm an easy going, consciences coangler that won't be annoying and I will chip in for gas. Hit me up via pm, email, or call 321-297-5258 if you don't mind me tagging along. Thanks, Aaron
  2. I weighed in a fish that had died, and it seemed to weigh less than I expected, compared to when I caught it. Perhaps it loses water weight? If this happens, how much weight does a fish typically lose if it dies?
  3. what should I be using...? I doubt my 4/0 EWG offset worm hooks are the ticket...they seem too big?
  4. I get ticked and stew about it for a long time... I am still not over fish I have lost over 2 years ago....
  5. where is the world was the coangler as he was stuffing fish? Must have been REALLY sneaky... This is why I would never enter a $ tourney without random coangler draws or marhsalls. I would wager some form of cheating takes place in any "team" tourney, or tourney without random draws, by at least 1 boat. I am not a very trusting person... I will at least stick to tourney where there is a chance a co-angler or marshall would blow the whistle on fraud.
  6. I love my Basspro Pro-Qualifier combos for $189 or so... Edwin Evers uses them. They got great features for the price- Not sure what the reel is by itself, but probably not a lot.
  7. I got a pile of worms that have either had their tails ripped or noses ripped. Seems like a waste to throw away all these worms. Is there a way to melt these down and put them in a mold to make more? Is there a way to make my own molds, or do I have to buy molds? thanks!
  8. might be just that the frog I am throwing is too light to pull the braid out...
  9. Yeah- I just haven't found the sweet spot. If I loosen things up too much, it overspins and catches. If I tighten down it just doesn't get out there that far. How far are you guys casting it? Maybe my expectations on distance is too high because I am comparing it to flouro distance?
  10. I have a decent reel- Bass Pro Pro Qualifier and can cast stuff a country mile with Flourocarbon on it. However, I have trie throwing a Toad or Rage Shad with both 50 Suffix Braid and 65 pound Spider Wire, and I just can't get the distance I am looking for. It seems like there is just too much friction coming out of the spool, through the guides, and the line catches air drag with the slightest breeze. Any pointers on a better casting braid? or how to get my dang frog out there further...?
  11. Thanks all...just to make sure, these lures you suggest will wobble and flash at a slow roll????
  12. I am looking for a crank bait or jerkbait that keeps a decent roll or wobble when worked at just a slow crawl... I want a wobble to be on the tight/subtle side. I also want it to hang out in the 8-12 ft. range. Any suggestions on a type of bait that would fit these requirements?? thanks
  13. I have 2 Extreme combos and love them! Really the best bet for money that I have seen. However, for just $30 (think $189) I wanted to upgrade to a pro-qualifier combo, and boy is the PQ really nice. Took me a while to figure out why the PQ was not casting that great, then realized it had those centrifugal pegs unlocked. I locked those down, and boy does it cast a smooth country mile. I think either of the BPS combos give some of the best bang for the buck...
  14. I'm just stoked that Diretv now has Versus back so I can watch the best fishing show on TV: City Limits!
  15. "soft or hard???" - That's what she said.... ;D
  16. I am really pulling for Mike Iaconelli
  17. EDUCATIONAL! That is the number 1 criteria in my book. The ones that I find are the best: Bassmasters (my #1 favorite show. I love the production, and I get soooo much out of watching the top guys fish. And it is just darn exciting. They need to start filming it in HD though...) City Limits (sucks it is on Versus and I can't watch with Directv) The Bass Pros (sucks it is on Versus and I can't watch with Directv) Classic Patterns - (just now seeing these. Is this a new show?) Bass Edge (haven't seen this in a while- not sure if it is still on)
  18. just FYI- BIPM (Bureau of Invasive Plant Management) used to be a DEP (Department of Environmental Protection)agency but has since moved to be under FFWCC. They essentially still do the same role, just got moved closer to their coordination points. That being said, it is quite interesting all that goes into the scheduling and coordination of the hydrilla management. You have endangered Snail Kites, which have issue with the invasive apple snails, which are affected by the hydrilla, which the fish like, which the recreational crowd find a nuisance, so it is kind of a damned if you do, damned if you don't. Without saying who I work for, , just trust me when I say the "powers at be" truly are experts in what they are doing, so don't worry too much about it. They are doing their best not trying to tilt the balance too far in one direction of all the different concerns that come into play.
  19. sounds like dude needs an aluminum flat rig for where he runs it. I don't know about running on plane in a ft of water...1 odd stump or ridge or gator and you are screwed. I would have white knuckles...
  20. regardless, dude knows how to sell his sponsors... If I was in the Biz, I would definitely want him fishing my stuff with how well he pimps it... I love his show- wish it weren't on Versus though...Directv doesn't carry.
  21. Also all the armored catfish got knocked back (killed) as well. I suspect they eat bed eggs and larvae so the bass should have a pretty strong spawning class this year.
  22. not sure if this is the article you were reading, but here is a good one on it... http://www.another site.com/news_article.asp?ID=3488
  23. Heck I NEED Directv and Versus to come to an agreement already.... considering Versus is owned by a big competitor to the dish- Comcast, doubt it will happen though > :'( :'(
  24. I understand canceling due to rain, but temp or tough bite???? Now is the time to get out and practice some on some tough cold front conditions and 50 degree water, so you can mop up and take the money the next time a front like this rolls through...
  25. sounds reasonable to me... It seemed to me that FLW was the one that got the sponsorships lined up for anglers as part of the Walmart brands marketing. However, I don't know if that should be the responsibility of FLW... I would expect the individual angler line up their own sponsorship. Of course, I don't know much about sponsorship but it appears from the outside that FLW in past played a heavy role in getting guys sponsored or on "teams". I doubt they have the ability to that anymore...
