  1. I beleive you have fished with Roland Martin and schooled him on catching Bass in NYC.
  2. Great interview Glenn, outstanding questions. Jeff was extremely informative and open with his answers. It is refreshing to see such a down to earth type pro. Then again all fishing pros seem that way, unlike the NBA. I really liked his advice on how not to go pro, great to see he learned from his mosatkes and accepts them, this will pay dividends on the water.
  3. Curado 100 not to far but won 10 bucks from my partner Saturday. I hit a turtle at 50 yards that was perched on a log. Van Dam has it right, also caught by hitting the mark, rarely by a long cast. By the way I did not go double or nothing, but I bought the first beer.

  5. I seen a fishing show where this guide was caughting them like crazy in a slip near the airport. Do not know exactly where that is but he was killing them.
  6. I fished there last March. Las Palmas is A1 in my book. Great fishing also our best day we stopped counting at 92 which was by lunch. Probably 150 for the day. Lots of 4 lber's. Biggest for our group of 4 was 10 lb 9 oz. Texas rigged lizards was the only thing that worked.
  7. I know it's not that close to Qunicy but I do business with folks there and they swear by Mark Twain in Missouri. It is near Monroe City about 40 miles from Qunicy. They way they tell it it is good for bass and crappie.
  8. I fished this lake this past weekend April 5 and 6th. Water temperature was 67 degrees at the beginning of the warm arm. Did not venture up this arm as the water was very murky so did not think the bass would relate to this due to spawn. Worked the bays in the cooler arms 57 - 65 degrees. Averaged about 25 bass a day. A lot of small ones. The larger males were active based on their tails being roughed up. Biggest was maybe 3 lbs. Caught two females that still were not spawned out again roughly 3 lbs. Maybe the bigs ones were in a post spawn pattern but could not pin point that pattern. All were caught in the bays in typical spawninga areas. Could not locate any in pre or post spawn mode. Nothing big but at least the skunk is dead. Two prior trips the skunk was on.
  9. Wait a minute, you may not be done. Unless I am an oddball, oh what yes I am, you still need to reorganize. I do about the same. Switch rods and reels, use them, not staified, switch again, not satified, change line, on and on. Then before you know it it's time for the hard water season and the routine starts again. Things were so much easier when I had one baitcast and one spinning setup. I JUST LOVE IT, thus I am an oddball.
  10. I had the same issue with the guide inserts. I took the rod back but like a bone head I frogot my reciept at home. All I was looking to do was exchange the rod. The rod had 6 month use on it but they provided outstanding service. The young lad at the service desk spoke with his manager and they told me to go find a rod exactly like mine and exchanged it without any problem. I was in and out in 10 minutes. It may just be the folks at the store, these guys were great. By the way I use this rod for Texas Rigging and can feel a pop can tab on the bottom, just kidding but it is super sensitive for this use. Try a differnt store if you can or talk to the manager. I believe maybe in your case they did not want to be flexible out of prue laziness.
  11. My crankbait setup is a Curado 100D and a St Croiux Crankbait rod. I have thought about purchasing a differnt set up like a Kisler Rod and Core reel but to tell you the truth I just can not put down what I have. My distance and accuracy has increased tremondously, so I would highly recommend this set up.
  12. Do any of the central Illinois Bassers have any idea on how the bite has been? I know the Kincaid Station was shut down for a few weeks so I was wondering how the lake temperature was affected. I am thinking for heading down weekend after next.
  13. Sounds like I should ax this idea. I have no experience with this lake under these conditions so I would expect the fishing to be brutal.
  14. Outstanding, a bunch of quality Bass!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. I am planning on going down weekend after next. I also am interested in the water temp. Hoping it will be warm enough for the bass to think about the spawn. If so I plan on working the creek bays. Bass should be there thinking about spawning or will be spawning. Let me know how you did.
  16. I fish strip pits near Chicago, Mazonia to be exact. As others have said they then to be clear but this time of year if heavy runoff is evident they will be quite murky. I would assume in So. Illinois they may be Lime or Sand Stone. If this is the case stay away from these areas as the Bass will. On a sunny day stay tight to the banks as cover sometimes is a problem. Structure tends to be hard to find.
  17. I will be on Lake Monroe the first weekend in April, maybe I have something good to report then. Try posting for Lake Monroe versus Midwest Lakes. Might get more looks.
  18. I own four Avid Rods but never a Carrot Stix, of course there is a reason I use Avid. These are great rods, the Crankbait Model is the ebst I ever used for crankbaits.
  19. Fished Sangchris a few times last year. Get out early spring if you can. This is a cooling lake for Kincaid Station. In the summer months water stays pretty hot escepically in the center arm. Each arms has bays whcih seems to hold more fish due to cooler water. This lake also produced the state record Striper. Has a 25 HP limit but does not seem to be enforced seen boats with more HP most likely locals who know what they can get away with. I fish Bass but have seen locals with good catches of catfish. Caught fish on all presentations, figure out what they want and 20-30 bass can be boated between 1-5 lbs, mostly on the small size.
  20. I have a Nitro which uses the same trailor as Tracker. My quess is you have been overshooting the bumpers on approach. When the trailer is in the water keep your wheels 1/4 the way out of the water. boat will glide on nicely.
