  1. Just like the Bears are going to the Super Bowl this year.
  2. Hope it was a good one!
  3. I have actually used these years ago when fishing Walleye. They made a good live bait hook as they were designed to turn in the mouth. They seemed to increase hook-ups. Of course on occasion they did brake with larger fish and when freeing snags.
  4. I also have thought about this and one thing I find odd is everyone's surprise. I always wondered what his deal was, it seemed odd to have so many new in package items. He always was slow to respond but was very respectful and apologetic in his responses when he did. I never bought from him as I knew in my heart this was just not right, but had no idea what the deal was but it seemed like "It feel off the truck" type deal. I wish his family well as it appears this man has a tough road ahead of him.
  5. Swilly, I sent you an e-mail. I fish Mazonia often, maybe we can hook up. I know some good main lake flats on Pondo which should produce once the ice is thick enough.
  6. Have a good one!
  7. Other than wearing out the occasional spinner bait or Trap it took 10 years for me to wear out the paw & worm gear on a Shimano Calcutta 50A but that was more my fault than the product since I have a bad habit of engaging the spool while the bait is still in the air. Sounds like that reel served you well, a little extra going in paid dividends it seems.
  8. Oh the pain, equivalent to a man giving birth. After passing one I have a renewed respect for women. :'(
  9. So the 7:1 would be ideal for Jig rods or topwater rods? I saw the fuego was on sale for a great price but I want to get the best reel for the job This reel will fit the bill. I prefer a 7:1 for Jig and T-Rig presentations. As far as Topwater it will work as well as most of the time you will be taking up slack.
  10. Prayer sent, stay by her side she will need your support.
  11. Looks like you have been busy Catt. Wear out any gear?
  12. I do not do much flipping but I like to pitch a Dirty Jig with Rage Tail Chunk. Weight and color varies by condition. This combination will always be pitched to a laydown or submerged tree along with dock posts.
  13. That rod should serve you well as a general purpose rod.
  14. IMO one thing youre missing is: How will this gear feel in 2 years after every day use? The Shimano's will be smoother. There is something about Shimano and Abu reels that the longer you use them the smoother they get. I Own Shimano, Diawa, Abu, Plueger, Quantum and BPS reels. All where purchased for a particular use. My last 5 reels were Shimano as I learned something. Smoothness is nice but performance is much better in consideration for a purchase. I have found that based on my style casting Shimano fits my needs. This may not be the case for everyone thus brand loyalty. I believe the same goes for rods as I also have numerous manufacturer rods. Some cast better and some have better sensitivity. I guess to each their own, after-all most spend their own money.
  15. If that does not make you proud and appreciative, nothing will. Let us never forget!
  16. Well he is from Boston isn't he? Nothing like being home for the holidays.
  17. At least the wine box didn't break! ;D I had 2 pieces of Wayne's fantastic steroid injected (Huge) chicken and lived to tell about it and fish the next day without any emergency trips to shore. Now the pancakes at the marina- that's another story. Uncle Leo can attest to that. Yep I did not need to trim my nose hairs for a month.
  18. I would agree with that. x3 A slap in the face to the players in my book. Nothing like saying"Hey you guys played great this year and now we have a bowl game with the team that was ranked number one all year and a victory could really put our program on the map. But I'm leaving." It goes agains the entire "team" and "family" feel you have. And they wonder why so many come to the NFL with a chip on their shoulder and a lack of team concept. I know football is a business whether it be the NFL or the college ranks but they still need to instill the concept of loyalty, team play and integrity in these college players.
  19. I do not have any experience with that combo but I would recommend what I use for Panfish, Walleye and Bass, St Croix Premier Combo. This rod in the 28" length is ideal for all species but use a spring bobber for panfish. This length is suitable for open ice or in the shack. The reel is made for cold weather use and performs well. The rod is very sensitive. Hope this helps with your selection. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat20166-cat601245-cat20196&id=0029913191110a&navCount=1&podId=0029913&parentId=cat20196&masterpathid=&navAction=push&catalogCode=UK&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat601233&hasJS=true
  20. I fish 90% Plastics so I need to agree with RW, Rage Tail. The Space Monkey landed me some decent fish and the Rage Tail Craw although not new in 2009 but to me accounted for most of my fish. I am looking forward to using the Smoking Rooster next year. Unfortunately when this came available here in the Upper Midwest it was time to downsize so it did not produce. I am sure next spring it will account for some nice catches.
  21. They have some nice Bass in Italy. My wife's family is from Croatia, Koper to be exact near the Italian border. We are planning a visit this summer. I will have to find some Bass fishing in Italy for sure.
  22. I do feel for the kids in the Cincinnati program. They played their hearts out for him and received a Bowl berth only not to be coached by him. Hard to place blame. I am sure ND wanted to fill a vacancy as quick as possible and it is a nice gig. The kids were a bit short changed IMO. Maybe a rule should be in place that it is hands off until after all Bowls are played.
  23. Oh the POWER of alcohol!
  24. Seems to me that someone is trying to justify how much the Redskins suck.
  25. I have tried this, it is a bit stiff so is less manageable then others.
