You're looking at it all wrong. It's not that the NFC is bad, it's just that it's very difficult at the moment to pick out a clear leader in the NFC. The AFC, on the other hand has enough stand outs or weak teams (whichever you view it) that's it's relatively easy to see who the leaders are.
Not really, in any team sport consistency produces a winner. There is no consistency in play in the NFC, but much more in the AFC. The talent is there just no execution. IE your Hawks beating my Bears. The talent is there, IE Bears Cowboys, Saints, Packers and the Vikings to name a few. Maybe Atlanta or the Giants will have a chance. The AFC is doing what is expected no so in the NFC. Bad is an end product of execution much like good is.
