  1. I never targeted Musky at Shabbona and have only Bass fished there a handful of times. I have seen Musky cruising the weed-line at the NE Bay Area 19 and the shoreline of the E Shoreline Area 20. If you do not mind travelling a bit, day trip, you might want to consider Webster Lake or the Barbee Chain in North Webster, Indiana. These are stocked lakes and have a good program. Your odds of hooking into one will be greatly improved.
  2. A Spud Bar is used to test the quality and thickness of the ice. If it breaks through with 3 hits stay off. With water on the top it will be difficult to read any underwater springs so be very careful Defined below: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spud_bar
  3. The ice thickness will be about the same but with warm temperatures and melting of the snow on top it may honeycomb. The water on top will work it's way through the ice and weaken it. Use extreme caution. Thickness does not mean strength. Use a spud to check the integrity of the ice. First and Last Ice is when folks go through. Fish with someone experienced and never alone.
  4. Add a Rum Drink and enjoy, NICE!
  5. It just makes you pee more.
  6. Yes you are missing out. I fish a lake, home lake that is very similair. The weeds are as heavy but in 12 foot of water. Weeds grew to with 3 feet of the surface. The bigger bass have always come out of that type of junk. Use the right gear and it is not much of a problem.
  7. Crap I mis-read this and placed a bid!
  8. Prayers sent, so very young.
  9. Good deal, that should spark sales for you , Bobby.
  10. I own both, I have to say that both are decent but dollar for dollar the Supreme is the much better value.
  11. There is something about Doritos and a dog that just goes together. :
  12. Early in the year concentrate at the north end of the pond, even if ice is present. The north end will the first to experience ice out and should be a bit warmer. Try a minnow style bait worked slowly. A Weightless Fluke may also work. The nice thing about this time of year as the will be swallow or near the bank due to the temperature of the water on the rise.
  13. If you are not sure you would like it, why did you buy it?
  14. The Packers were the best time going into the Post Season and proved it in the Super Bowl. Earier in the season I never thought the NFC was strong enough to win the SB the Pack peaked at the right time. What a game!
  15. Is this the reel you were talking about? its a 250XG? I tried cleanin it but when I put mine back together for some reason the spool wont spin with the handle.. Very similar, but even older. Mine was a xg10 with a chrome spool release button like an old ABU 5000. It worked flawlessly until I decided to mess with it. LOL That was my first true modern baitcast reel. To this day I have no idea what happened to it. Very good reel at the time.
  16. Sub Wart and Mid Wart. Can still find some on occasion but limited in colors. I have a Sub Wart in a Bullfrog Pattern that has caught me many of Bass. Good thing it is sub surface.
  17. Last I remember 51. I think.
  18. Have a good one!
  19. Marlon Brando, especially as the Godfather.
  20. Why, why did I have to watch that? OMG :-[
  21. Refresh and do it again, it stuck then. I want to fish like IKE, lol.
  22. No one can! The man is a beast.
  23. It may not stop for you, but here in the middle of Illinois, when the water temp gets below 55, it slows down drastically. Not sure at what temp it dies, because I don't try to find out. When the spinnerbait bite starts to disappear, the jerkbait bite gets into high gear. When the jerkbait bite starts to go, I can usually get a few fish with slow plastics. Soon after that the baits start bouncing off the water. Yep now drive that nail home, northern bassin at it's best. Creativity and lure selection is a must.
  24. Always use a spud and spud your way out. No ice is safe no matter how thick it is. Natural springs can play havoc on the ice, compound with extra weight of snow on top can be a disaster. Be very careful and safe. Trust no one judgement untill you spud and make sure it is safe.
  25. I wonder who did the comparison? EPA on a state or federal level? Also were the toxins compared by percentage of level from state to state. It could be the Vermont did there own testing and their standards are help higher then the other states. Maybe the Vermont side is actually cleaner. It happens all the time on Lake Michigan with all of the border states.
