  1. We've used Titleshot jigs for years with great success but don't care for the "shorty" version at all. The free swinging aspect of the shorty make it difficult to line up and penetrate the soft plastic trailer. Even the regular Titleshot is hard to hang a trailer on sometimes. We usually "pre-drill" the trailer with a round toothpick...facilitates getting the trailer onto the keeper yet doesn't greatly reduce the keeper's ability to hold the trailer.
  2. We fish primarily in rivers also and use the fluoro to braid set up more for the ability to break off when needed than for the invisibility factor. We use a longer than normal leader to start with so we can retie several times before needing to replace the leader.

  4. It's Bass Patrol, not Bass Control...beyond that, I concur totally. Rigged with a Rage craw is one of our favorite presentations. Don't be afraid to experiment with retrieve speed...sometimes faster is more effective than crawling...just remember to use a heavy enough weight to maintain bottom contact.
  5. Looks like a great sunfish imitator...I'm thinking swimjig with an amber, green flake/black rage tail craw for a trailer.
  6. Fat IKA...nobody we fish with uses these despite all the success we've had with them over the past ten years or so. Older son just won a small local tourney using it. Thanks again RoadWarrior for the tip.
  7. Couldn't find a comet on Siebert's website...
  8. Couldn't find Windex Multi Surface Cleaner as shown above but bought a Windex product that has vinegar in it and it worked very well...cleanest my screens have been since I bought them. Thanks for the tip.
  9. Up here in the north country, snagging isn't the only way to lose a bait...Northern Pike take more of our baits than snags do by quite a large margin,
  10. Some things are not supposed to be made common knowledge...just sayin
  11. About 40 miles is max for me except when I go fish with my grandson...80 miles but worth the time with him on the water. In the "Land of Ten Thousand Lakes" one needn't travel far to find good fishing for just about any freshwater species you'd care to pursue.
  12. Except emergencies or really good sale prices, I buy everything on line.
  13. Haven't been able to decide which would be of more benefit...Ultrex or new locator.
  14. Website says they are sold out...can't find anyone else selling these. Are they still being made?
  15. Not sure where to put this but quite certain it will get moved to the appropriate forum by someone. I have a good memory, it just doesn't last very long the saying goes and I can definitely relate. Some time back, I read about and/or watched a video about an unusual modification/use of rubber core sinkers and liked the idea enough to put rubber core sinkers on my "things to order before Spring" list. The problem is I can't for the life of me remember what the deal with the sinkers was. Does this ring a bell for anyone?
  16. 6 pounder on a white wacky stick worm.
  17. The BPS I go to most often has the same problem. I go there to look at colors and the lighting is so poor I usually have to walk the baits over to a window to see the colors.
  18. I have a Norman Deep Baby N from before they changed the plastic. It is the last one of about a dozen I had at one time. Without question, the best crank I ever threw for Smallies on the upper Mississippi. Can't really explain why I refuse to use the last one...but I just can't bring myself to put that last one at risk.
  19. I have used the two handed cast for several years due to wrist issues and have found it to be far less fatiguing as well as easier on the wrists. The reel never leaves my palming hand unless I'm flipping or pitching.
  20. I still use some mono from the late 70's with absolutely no problems...it all depends on how it was stored.
  21. Good to finally have an excuse for not being able to skip a Senko...I must be using the wrong colors...
  22. We use these on all of our jigs...http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Hitch_SeriesTrailer_Keepers_The_Trailer_Hitch/descpage-HSTKPTH.html They fit most jig heads and do a remarkably good job of retaining the trailer.
  23. I had the opposite experience...the larger split ring vs. the smaller one made all the difference with respect to being able to work the bait at various speeds. I'm confident it will be more weedless than the 3 way swivel also. I'll soon be able to compare my home made version to the real thing...got an email from TW yesterday saying my backordered Sprinker is shipping Monday.
  24. I've made one with a split ring and one with a 3 way swivel. I use the Teckel Sprinker tail on both. The 3 way swivel model works much better than the split ring version in that it runs well at virtually any speed. The split ring version runs well at only a pretty fast pace. The 3 way swivel version is not so weedless as the split ring version however as the 3 way swivel tend to gather weeds. Having seen the bigger size split ring being used by tcbass, I believe that may be the best option. I will obtain some larger split rings, do some testing and report back.
  25. Thanks for the 3 way swivel tip...that was actually my first inclination to try but all the videos on homemade Sprinkers I was seeing used the split ring so I assumed that was the way to go. Switched one of my home made ones from split ring to 3 way swivel today and it ran much better and all speeds...with the split ring rig, it really only worked well at one speed. Thanks again.
