  1. Welcome, glad you joined. Hope we can maybe help spark that desire to get out on the water.
  2. Very nice post. Lots of good info. Thanks.
  3. I'm going to choose the stained lake. Stained/muddy water heats up quicker and retains its heat longer. Stained water also usually positions fish closer to structure/cover making them a little easier to find. Being that the scenario your giving is a warming trend then I'm going to chose the lake that has the better chance at being warmer.
  4. I use this hook for so many different applications & it always preforms. I'm not saying this is the end all for hooks it's just a great hook for many different worms and techniques.
  5. Now I have no facts to back what I'm about to write but here we go. I usually find that winds really only effects shallow water fishing or fish that are high in the water column. As long as I can stay on the deeper water fish the bite doesn't really change in my experience. Weather it be that the wind stirs up what the bait fish feed on, oxygenates the water, provides a little camouflage I don't know. What I do know is that when the wind picks up significantly it generally makes our jobs as fishermen harder. Between boat control, and working the lure we have more things that are consuming our attention other then fishing, causing us (me) to rush and not be as affective. This in turn makes me sometimes think that the bit has turned off rather then realizing that I'm probably working the lure different/faster/not as effective as I was before. Just my 2cents. Generally though I like it to be breezy. I have more confidence with the wind blowing a little just not a lot.
  6. Small finishing nail cut in half and bent out about 45 degrees works great. Shrink wrap it on and you're good to go. As far as the Trokars go, I've tried them, and won't use them again. The points roll on them after a few fish. Nowhere near worth it to me at the price tag. I'll stick with primarily using Owner and Gamakatsu hooks. Awesome, thanks. I would have eventually found something that I liked but this will save me some time.
  7. My thoughts exactly. :-?
  8. The two in the first pic are just cool. Nice job on them all.
  9. Great job as usual. Love the black on as well.
  10. Those are awesome.
  11. Man that looks fantastic. Good job.
  12. You know, looking at the Gamakatsu hook you might be able to heat shrink a bent paper clip/staple/small moldable piece of wire into place for a keeper. I'll have to try that sometime.
  13. That's one. Gambler & Paycheck Baits make one as well. I've got a friend who uses heat shrink tubing & a dab of superglue and swears by it. I've tried it and it works for a while it just doesn't stay ridged enough after a few fish for me. Maybe I'm not using the right heat shrink. I was thinking about the shrink wrap idea as well but thought the same thing...is common shrink wrap rigid enough?? HMMM?? The funny thing is that after I catch a few fish & it's not as rigid it still does the job just fine. I don't think it necessarily needs to be super rigid to keep the bait in place, I just want it to be
  14. Holy cow! RW actually recommend the Swimming Senko.... Super Fluke or Mag Super Fluke would work here I think. Heck yeah he did. It's an awesome bait. Very versatile. Some of my best days have come from using that bait over the tops of hydrilla or through lilly pads.

  16. Sadly very little impresses me of the music being made today. You either have to be ridiculously good or come up with a new sound & make it work. Truth is, is that I listen & thoroughly enjoy almost all music. You can play almost anything and i'll usually find something that I like about it, I just probably wont be impressed by it. As for the last music that I heard that truly "impressed" me were the VTT (Vital Tech Tones). I rarely listen to them because their not exactly listener friendly but their musicianship knocks me on my butt. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0DYWfN2D-8
  17. Nice job.
  18. Foggy morning on beautiful Lake Fork.
  19. Love the red craw spro as well. Nice job.
  20. This may sound funny but I had to work my way up to them. What I mean by that is that when I first started fishing cranks I was loosing quite a bit of my cranksbaits. Had I started throwing LCs right off the bat I would have been more worried about losing them then fishing them correctly. Now that I'm a comfortable crankbait fisherman I love LC baits. To be honest I still like Norman lures the best but there are sure times when you can't beat a LC crank, especially in clear water.
  21. This would be my personal fav. "You should have run when you had the chance, Spearman." "Not much for running from cowards."
  22. x2 A few more of my favs. Chevy Chase as Clark Griswold...National Lampoons Vacation movies Daniel Day Lewis as William "Bill the Butcher" Cutting...Gangs of New York Peter Sellers as Inspector Jacques Clouseau...The Pink Panther Matt Damon as Jason Bourne...Bourne Identity Brad Pitt / Edward Norton as Tyler Durden / The Narrator...Fight Club Christoph Waltz as Col. Hans Landa...Inglourious Basterds Seriously the list could go on and on but that's what I got off the top of my head right now.
  23. I had a bud who was at the game and said that they were NOT cheering for Christina. About half way through, when you heard the loud cheers, they put up a picture of soldiers on the screen & everyone was cheering for our men & women serving our country. I thought the same thing before he told me that.
  24. I don't necessarily have a favorite actor as much as favorite performances. Here are just a few that I love. Robert Duvall - Open Range Daniel Day Lewis - Gangs of New York Jean Reno - The Professional Ed Harris - Enemy at the Gates Steve Buscemi - Fargo
