  1. Hmmmmm interesting. No I haven't but it sounds like a pretty cool idea.
  2. Oh I agree. I was just saying that he could check out those who actively participate in the forum. I'm only talking about those with a post count of 0. Until they post something I would say they haven't actively participated yet in the forum. Looking & not posting isn't really any different then not being a member & looking IMHO. Except you get to see the pictures
  3. If your really bored & really, really want to know how many active members are on here just click on the Members tab & count away. To the right of each name shows how many times they've posted. There are a lot of people who have never posted before.
  4. I have 6, working on 7. I need a good spin casting set up.
  5. A bit of both. Like fishfordollars said, you earn your luck. However luck comes into play just a little when you catch any bass IMHO. Sure you had your idea as to what lure, what color, what depth, and action the fish would want but it's up to the fish to say "Ok I'm going to eat that." We do our best to imitate what we believe the bass wants to eat on that given day, but the ball is always in their court. We have to trick the bass.
  6. The only time I got really bummed about losing a fishing lure was when I was 15 with my dad & granddad. Long story short, all three of us were fishing out of a 14' Alumacraft boat @ Itasca State Park in northern Minnesota. I caught a 41" musky & when I got him in the boat he started flopping around & knocked my granddads tackle box into the water. All the lures that were floaters, well, floated. All the lures that were not sank to the bottom. A lot of non replaceable lures sunk the the bottom of Elk Lake in Itasca that day. Many which belonged to my granddads dad. Even though my granddad could care less about losing the lure, because he got to see me catch my biggest musky that day, I still felt horrible. That was our last fishing trip as father, son, grandson. So yes I have felt horrible about losing a lure to a fish. Stupid musky.
  7. There you go. Everybody's going to have a different opinion on what line to use. Your job is to gather some information & then try it out to see what best fits your fishing style.
  8. Why not fish them EXACTLY like Gary Yamamoto recommends? http://www.insideline.net/articles/swim_senko.html 8-) BINGO. There you go. It's one of my go too baits. Caught a lot of fish on them. Also they can be a deadly Carolina Rig plastic :-X
  9. Good job bud. Any trouble getting the lure/hook out. That thing inhaled it . JMHO try not to justify the way your fish looks in the pictures. If you weighed them but they look smaller in the pic, who cares. You were the one who got to catch them, not us. 8-) Looks like a killer honey hole you got there.
  10. Go ahead and push that weight on up too 5lbs at least Hey as long as you know it's your new PB that's all that matters. Congrats my man, that's a great feeling. Invest in a camera. At least a disposable one. It will be one of the best, fishing, decisions you'll ever make. Memory is good but it fades much quicker then the picture will.
  11. Man the fish in the 2nd & 3rd pic are beautiful. Good job bud.
  12. wow, i didnt quite realize what i was implicating with that comparison...... but your correct, go down in the record books for catching the largest bass that has, and will ever live..... or be filthy rich, beyond my wildest dreams...... im a fisher at heart, but i would certainly take the $$$ although, i would want the fish after the $$$ :'( Or just catch the fish & live off the endorsements. They don't call it "The Million Dollar Fish" for nothing.
  13. Also see the carolina rigging tips sticky thread at the top of this section. You will want at least a 7 ft mh fast for chucking 1/2 to 1oz sinkers. A lot of guys just basically use their flippin sticks or frog rods. Agreed. & just like Bassin_Fin@tic said, you must use at least a 7' rod. IMHO don't go any shorter. You need that long rod to move a lot of line when setting the hook. Also your main line should be fluorocarbon or braid. Both of those will increase your sensitivity & are low stretch for setting the hook. After doing it long enough you will be able to tell if the bottom is rock, mud, grass, gravel, etc...
  14. WHAT???? You don't remember Alex Langer's Flying Lure??? ;D
  15. WOW Awesome job bud. That's a fantastic looking swimbait. Size? How many oz?
  16. I don't know why but I get a kick out of the pic title. weird_lake__good_pic. As far as fishing it goes I, personally, world work a smaller search bait first. Something like a trap, crank, or even a carolina rig or beetle spin. Once you find the bass, giving the lake has any, then I would slow down & find what it is that they are keying in on. Just my $.02
  17. Maybe this is a little easier to understand. Fan Cast - Making a series of casts only a few degrees apart to cover a half circle (more or less). The first attempt to explain was my definition. The one above is the bass resource definition. I think they did a better job. ;D
  18. It's when you start @ 9 o clock (far left) & work your way to 3 o clock (far right) hitting every # in between. It's a good, quick way to locate fish in the heat. You get to cover a lot of water quickly & thoroughly. Make sense :-/ ;D
  19. Just make sure that when you store your 3600 that you lay it flat. If you store them upright make sure the worms are horizontal NOT vertical. If they are stored vertically they will all bunch up at the bottom & if exposed to heat they will warp leaving you with a bunch of senkos that are no longer straight. Yes I've had this happen. Yes they will still catch fish when they are warped but not as well IMHO. Does that make sense. :-/ ;D
  20. If your having a hard time finding fish I would fan cast a Carolina Rig. I've always done good with Carolina Rigs in the heat.
  21. I have the Jackall Dagored, which I have yet to catch anything with it yet. But only because I'm still looking for the right application to fish it with confidence. Awesome bait though. I also have 2 Jackall Mikey Jr. Great wake bait. I've got 1 in the HL Sunfish & 1 in the Tennessee Shad. I love these two baits. When the weather is calm, esp. calm & cloudy, these two will just tear them up. Absolutely love them. Very impressed with the overall construction of the baits. Top quality components, awesome paint jobs/schemes, good hooks. The works man. I highly recommend these baits, & I will be buying more.
  22. May sound funny but last time I was tossing a Carolina Rig I was using a Floating Stanley Ribbit Frog. I was absolutely killing them on it. I may not go back to what I was using before ;D
  23. Oh. I thought what you just explained was also called skin hooking. If not then what is skin hooking?
  24. I have been fishing Gamakatsu for 12 years without an issue of any kind. I also picked up some XPoints a few years ago and REALLY liked them, too. Our local Sportsmen's Warehouse recently went out of business and I picked up some Owners, two 25 packs for $10!!!!! Owners are great, but I bought the heavy gauge 5/0 EWG Offset Worm Hooks which have limited application for me. I guess I will be fishing these occasionally for the next decade! 8-) Hey RW aren't you a Swim Senko man? I'm sure you've already tried those hooks with them but just in case you haven't, they work great. That heavy gauge really cuts down on the side to side wobble. Makes the bait run a little more true IMHO. Once again, you've probably already tried them but just thought if you haven't you really need to give it a try.
