  1. Great job. Really nice fish.
  2. Man that's awesome. Gotta love striper fishing. Great job.
  3. That's awesome. I've always wanted to fish for tuna. I've always heard the stories of how hard they fight. Great job.
  4. My fishing bud & I have an ongoing joke on how every time my phone rings, & I answer it, one of us gets bit. It's kinda weird, it's seriously like 75% of the time my phone rings one of us catches a fish. As far as your trip goes, good job. Sounds like a good day. Heck...anytime you get out on the water is a good day.
  5. My fishing bud sank his boat, so I guess that means he lost everything. HAHA. Thank goodness he had that thing insured. As for me I would have to say a pair of polarized sunglasses as well. I had them on my hat when a wasp decided that buzzing around my head sounded like a fun time & when I took my hat off to swat him my glasses went flying.
  6. I tend to go with whatever the bass are biting on that particular day . Sometimes the bass can only be caught by using a lipless crankbait trying to get a reaction strike. Other days you need to use a suspending jerkbait & let it sit in front of them for 10-30 seconds before they will bite. If they are suspending in the thermocline then I use a lipped crankbait that gets down to the exact depth they are suspending. Bass hardly ever do what we expect them to do. Keep an open mind & just try different things until you get bit. As far as bait colors to use in murky water, I would have to say anything with Red, Orange or Chartreuse in it.
  7. 95% of all the bass I catch are C&R. The exceptions are the smaller bass that I catch in my private pond behind my parents house for selective harvest. I'll also keep a bass if I've gut hooked it or accidentally did something that would not allow it to survive (which is almost never). I NEVER keep a healthy good sized bass though. Let it go to be caught another day...hopefully by me when it's much much bigger.
  8. I agree with RW. Use the same stuff, just work it slower. However the baits that are usually staples for me right after heavy rain are "bold" colored baits such as red, black, blue & chartreuse. I also want them to displace a good amount of water or make a decent amount of noise. Such as Colorado spinnerbaits, curl tail worms opposed to cigar style worms (although they still work) & lipless crankbaits.
  9. I would try using a C-Rigged plastic. With the water being so cold they all might be hugging the bottom for warmth. C-Rigs can cover a lot of water quickly while still being a relatively slow presentation technique for the fish. I would also try using a jig & grub combo or an in-line spinner. They always seem to be a good cold water bait. Of course my cold water here in Texas isn't quite the same as your cold water up in NY.
  10. When I saw the thread title I thought "haha, whatever :". Now that I actually see the fish I would have to say that it's definitely pushing 10 for sure. Nice catch.
  11. 83 for me.
  12. Agree. I actually did laugh at that one mainly because I wasn't expecting it. Sad thing is that there are going to be so many people that will see those pictures & still do it.
  13. Fishing family for me. I however take it far more seriously then anyone else in my family.
  14. Glad to have you aboard.
  15. Those look great. I really really like the second one.
  16. Very nice job.
  17. Totally agree with "fishizzle" to fish what your confident with, whatever that may be. No matter how cold it gets, some fish will stay in relatively shallow water. The ones that stay in shallow water when cold will usually hold tight to cover which holds heat. That may be tree stumps, rocks, brush or just the bottom of the lake. Good luck, & do post back after day 1 to let us know how it's going.
  18. First I would cover a lot of water with either a lipless crank or a willow blade spinnerbait. Once I found the fish I would post up at that area & pick it apart with jigs/crankbaits/spinnerbaits/jerkbaits/soft plastics/etc...
  19. Bass-Brat do you have a favorite senko color? Nicely played my friend. HAHA. As for me, it's definitely Watermelon Black & Red Flake. Love it.
  20. Big baits + slow presentation = big fish. The last 2yrs I've gone bigger/slower/deeper & the fish just get bigger & bigger. They are not all in deep water but most of the bigger bass are in the deeper water relative to that particular area.
  21. Man those look really REALLY good.
  22. Wow. Very very nice.
  23. Agree.
  24. Wow...really nice job bud.
  25. Man this seriously made my day. ;D ;D ;D To your defense, yes this term is easily mistaken to us younger folks. P.S. Congrats bwell. That's absolutely awesome.
