  1. Way to go. Yeah the last few days have been gorgeous around here.
  2. Same here. This is the first thing that popped into my head when I read the title.
  3. Holy crap that's big. Mass selective harvesting does wonders. ;D Kind of puts a wrench into the thought that Catch & Release is the "only" way. BIG congrats to Mr. Hiroshi
  4. Man those are some nice smallies.
  5. Agreed. The 5-2 is the fattest bass I've caught in quite a while. The 7-10 was a very wide & long bass but it had clearly already started spawning. When I first hooked the 7-10 I didn't think it was any bigger then 3lbs until I got her next to the boat.
  6. "bassman" is for my love for playing the "bass" guitar & catching "bass." 31783 is my birthday. St. Patty's day baby
  7. "I'm In"
  8. Agreed, it is a blessing to live close enough to fish Fork more then most. However I grew up only 20min away & hardly ever fished it & now that I'm married & live 2hrs away in Denton I hardly get the chance to fish it. Go figure. Granted for most of my life my dad & I didn't have a boat that we could take out on big water. I also didn't take fishing too seriously up until 5yrs ago. As for you noogai12, you better start fishing Fork more often. It's a fantastic lake.
  9. Nice bass. That second ones color is just beautiful. Have fun with the new boat.
  10. I've personally never used live bait while bass fishing but I have nothing against those who do. Here is a post from Fish Chris from another thread. I'm only posting this because if anybody knows the benefits of catching big bass on both artificial & live baits it would be Fish. "As for "wanting to do it with artificials only".... I have kind of split feelings on this. One part of me would like to tell you, that being "open minded, to any, and all legal techniques, will give you the best chance at sticking a monster". But on the other hand, at least your picking the "easier", less challenging way to catch a big bass LOL Here's what I mean by that; I am the first to admit, I love fishing live bait, and I have done it a ton. I certainly have no qualms about it. Yet only 1/3 of my 89 double digit bass have come on live bait, and none of my 7 bass, of 15 lbs or more, have been on live bait. That kind of bums me out a little, as I'd love to catch a 15+ giant on a crawler, and my micro-light Sure, I love live bait fishing, but a guy has to do, what a guy has to do, if he wants to catch giants. " ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ For me it's all in the eye of the beholder. Although catching 50 fish in a day is fun I would much rather catch 5-10 healthy quality fish. Some will lean towards the 50 fish day & some will lean towards the 5-10 healthy quality fish day. Do what you like to do, become really good at it & don't worry what another person does to catch fish. P.S. what's really funny is when someone catches a giant on live bait & all the Artificial bait guys sort of write it off. "Sure he caught a 13lbs bass but he caught it with a shiner, some fisherman he is." All the while wishing they had the bragging rights :'( :'( :'( ;D ;D ;D
  11. Good job bud. Nice fat bass there.
  12. Yeah when I set the hook I set it HARD. As far as improving your catch rate you could always add a trailer hook.
  13. Got a chance to go to Lake Fork again yesterday, this time with my dad, & had a great day. We ended up boating 13 fish. every fish was over 3lbs with the exception of 1 dink thrown into the mix. Dad's 2 best were both 4lbs. He also lost a monster that would have easily been his personal best. He took the loss much better then I would have. He'll get her next time. Here are my 3 best of the day. 5lbs 2oz 5lbs even 7lbs 10oz (big one of the day & for the year so far) At the end of the day we had impressive farmers tans, sore backs, scraped thumbs & big smiles. Great day on the water.
  14. Beautiful fish.
  15. Nice job.
  16. Another vote for Norman baits here.
  17. When my bud & I were at Lake Fork a few weeks ago both he & I caught a catfish within about 5min. He got his on a chartreuse chatterbait & I got mine on a suspending jerkbait. Both went right at 12lbs. What a mix of emotions when you get it to the boat. When they first hit your bait you get so excited because your so sure you have a giant bass. Then while fighting it you realize something doesn't feel quite right. When you get your first glimps you get a little mad, or if your me you get real mad. After you unhook it, & send it on it's way, you realize how fun of a fight it really was & all is good.
  18. Really like the way it looks.
  19. I like them. There's something very retro about them.
  20. For a second I thought you said 3/4" long. I thought wow this guy has really tiny hands. HAHA. Seriously though that's a really cool looking bait. Let us know how you do with it.
  21. I want!!! I want!!! That's too cool.
  22. I will use pretty much the same thing that everyone else has mentioned but my top 2 producers are a little against the grain. 1. Swimming senko 2. Stanley Ribbit Frog (high floater)
  23. Wow those look good.
  24. Great story my friend. Congrats. Keep that passion & your going to learn so much so fast.
  25. The old man & cameras actually made me laugh pretty good. ;D Nice going, really good pics.
