  1. Hey Rolo, I'll see you in a couple of weeks. I'll be the guy with the flippin' stick hancuffed to his wrist. ;D
  2. Where were you on the night of May 9,2009???? >
  3. First time to Kissimmee, JB. Last year I fished the Harris Chain and 2 years prior I fished the St. Johns river out of "Bass World Lodge" I had no problems nor did I hear of anything to be concerned about. Thats why this stuff about Camp Mack surprised me.
  4. Please realize, I'm not trying to offend anyone and I'm certainly not trying to cast a shadow on Camp Mack. Hell, my stuff could get ripped off right in my driveway. Maybe I'm gettin' paranoid in my old age. The reports I saw on Camp Mack I stumbled upon while checking out the area on Google Earth. If you zoom in on the area and click on the Camp Mack indicator, a site opens up that is called "Trip Advisor" and it lists a couple "Traveler Reviews". One was dated 5/9/09 and the other 5/13/09 and they both report the same thing---the break in of a dozen boats at Camp Mack one weekend. That ,coupled with the article on page 12 of the Feb. Bassmaster mag , simply woke me up a little to todays realities. I'm a big boy and I'll be damned if I'll let some petty thieves ruin my fishin'. I was just looking for more info and perhaps if some of you weren't aware, just lettin' you know what I read. Anyway, just tell your bass to watch the hell out cause I'm comin.
  5. A team of wild horses couldn't keep me from goin'. I guess I was just looking for reassurance (which you kindly provided). Fishdaddy, when you stay there, do you leave your boat in the water or pull it up near your cabin??
  6. I'm booked for a visit to Camp Mack soon. I'm reading all kinds of stuff about constant break-ins and theft of fishing equipment and electronics from boats parked in front of cabins in well lit areas. One guy said the local police told him this happened all the time ,especially when there was a tourney or when the camp was full with just recreational fisherman. They make it sound like an epidemic.Like most of us, I've got more gear than I need in my boat and certainly more than I care to pay to replace. Anyone got any recent info? I'm nervous as hell. :-/
  7. They tend to stop chine walkin' when they're upside down.
  8. Don't worry about your wife killin' ya---70mph should take care of that.
  9. Take a few old socks and put about a hand full of moth balls in each one. Spread the socks around the boat, in each compartment, under the console, and a couple back in the battery compartment. Works for me.
  10. That sure as hell figures--I just booked a trip there in Feb.
  11. Not so simple huh simplejoe ----thanks for the response buddy.
  12. I just read an article where the pro was touting flourocarbon line for a certain application and recommended a "double improved clinch knot" to tie on lures. I've always heard the best knot for flouro was the "palomar knot". What do you guys say?
  13. I have a 2005 Nitro 882 and I want to change out all the pumps this spring just to be safe. The live-well pumps are readily accessible but the bilge pump is mounted,(with very little clearance), under the gas tank. Anybody have the same boat that has changed out their bilge pump and can let me know what I'm in for?
  14. I've used "zeros" since they came out and I think I still have the first one I used. You can't kill these things. The action/shimmy is as good as any IMHO but I think the feel or texture is much better than the others I've used. Like someone else said, the start to become more and more bouyant with use. Once they start to float I like to throw them on braided line into the pads and twitch them slowly back to the boat. They also make a great "carolina rig" bait as they float along off the bottom behind your weight. The only issue I had was learning the hard way not to have them come in contact with other plastic baits. Just my 2 cents.
  15. I gave my son a 1988 Tracker Pro 17 when I got my new Nitro 882. The Tracker takes on water pretty good and requires running the bilge pump several times during the day.I can't see anything obvious causing the leak. I have even filled the boat with a hose in the driveway to see where the water leaked out. Nothin". Based on how quickly the boat takes on water, the "hole" must be significant but I can't find it. Anybody had a similar problem?
  16. I just started making crankbaits. For ballast, Ive been using some XPS finesse weights that I have for dropshotting. They are cylindrical and I have 1/16oz to 1/2oz weights. Not sure if they come bigger or smaller. I'm not understanding why anyone would go to the trouble and expose themselves to the hazards that exist in dealing with molten lead. What am I missing? Like I said, this is new to me.
  17. Real rookie here. What do you use to hold scale masking in place for painting?
  18. Thanks guys--"will do" on the default settings. I do have a tendency to "tweak" too much.
  19. Thanks Ben---just what I needed to get started. There's a lot more involved than just "whittlin'" That forum offers so much info, I've got to digest for a while before I invest in supplies. Paints, epoxys',etc. are not all the same apparently. You guys are gonna save me a lot of trial/error. Thanks again.
  20. I have a fish finder/gps that is so good it marks fish 17 feet deep. The problem is I'm in 14 feet of water. I didn't mention the make or model 'cause I don't want them to get a bad rap if it's something I'm doing wrong with the installation or set up. Any ideas??
  21. I want to try to hand carve a few crankbaits this winter to keep from going nuts. Where can I find some good "how to" info and a place to buy hardware like screw eyes, lips, eyes ( as in eyeballs ) etc. Thanx in advance for your direction.
  22. Thanks Crank, thats exactly what I'm looking for.
  23. For whatever reason, I find myself fishing a spinner bait more often this year than in years past. I use Booyah and War eagle baits but find myself liking the War Eagle better. My issue is that I find , after a few fish, I end up "wishbonin'" the bait with me getting the blade half and the fish getting the hook half. So far I haven't lost a lunker but it's only a matter of time. If I could find an old style spinnerbait where they looped the wire instead of just bend it where you tie up, I'd use them. Is there some trick in tying on? If not, has somebody figured out when to retire a bait before you lose the big-un that costs you the tourney?
  24. remember to mix oil with the gas in the remote tank. signed "the voice of experience"
