Post spawn winners are the Norman Razr Minnow and the Strike King Wild Shiner, on shad heavy lakes the 3.5 inch Yo-Zuri Crystal minnow is a beast. All less than half the price of the LC's....that said, i d**n near throw pointers and the MB visions exclusively, am having good luck with the erratic shad so far this year though.

15lb Pline CXX or 14lb McCoy Mean Green, I like the copolymer for square bills. Braid is too unforgiving and cost me some fish by taking it away on the strike. Those two also hold up to being banged around the cover pretty well.

Ive been throwing KVD2.5's and RC3 DBS's on one of the 5.4 geared models for the last 3 weeks, LOVE it so far! If it holds up and continues to perform like this, I'll have to add a few more!

You could get a 7ft heavy action berkley lightning rod, and pair it with an abu round reel (not a C series though for this $$$) and probably come in under 100, and have a functional setup to handle the weight of the rig and plenty of line/spool space.

The Duckett rods are awesome, in terms of weight, balance, and feel. They are terribly under powered however; the MHs fish like Ms, and the Hs fish like MH's. I never use anything lighter than an MH so I cant truly speak on those.

Been using the 6'6mh spinning with a Stradic Ci4 2500, dear lord I love it! finesse jigs around docks, I couldnt ask for better weight/sensitivity/casting, If the casting rods are as good, and prove to be durable, I may be replacing some Loomis's

The U head is a rounball head with a regular off-set worm hook. Hard head is a football head with an EXG hook. Hard head hook quality is much much better. I have to file paint off of the points of the u head's hooks. Agree that the hard heads are expensive though.

In terms of number of fish caught; 1) modified chatterbait 2) shakey head with 7inch zoom mag finesse worm 3) 1/2 oz Gladiator football jig

I throw 5&6 inch senko type baits on a powell 683 with a revo preimier and 12lb fluoro I throw 4 in and light 5's on a cumara 6'8 MH with a chronarch 50mg and 10lb fluoro In really clear water or times when lighter line is called for I use a 6'6 M action spinning rod with 8lb fluoro.

Agreed, after deconstructing it, it is an SX, with a swept handle, defferent paint job, and browning emblem.

Ive been a realtively high end reel guy for a while. Zillions and Curados have become my toys of choice, with a premiere, a few HSTA's and a couple chronarchs slipped in there (although i did buy a PQ last year and have found it to perform surprisinlgy well!). Ive always thought that the 6 to 1 ratios of my HSTAs were all I needed for cranking. However, after my partner took me to the woodshed cranking deep little johns last month (using hte same line and lure) with his 5.1 reel I thought I would ivest in a mid-level low ratio reel. I bought a Brwoning Citori from BPS when they were on sale last month under the idea that it would be a ProQ with a deer head on the side. I was WRONG! The Citori, though strikingly similar in appearance, cast better and is much much smoother than my ProQ and I like it much better than any of the johny morris reels i have gone through in the past. In all honesty, however it has only been a few weeks, its performance thus far exceeds that of the Citica E's, but not quite up to the Curado level. Im stoked, and will definately find a reason to buy another one soon....there a da*m good looking little reel too!

Ive got a 09 premiere on a 683c, love it!!!! and a E7 on a Powell 734C, awesome as well! Im looking to add a 684C in hte near future.

The Z-man original with a paddle tail trailer has been my go to search bait for the last 2 years. Ive tried them all, I HATE the Pure Poisons! I hate the Booyahs~! The other one I have had success with is the Phoenix Vibrator Jig! hasa a sweet sweet wiggle with a great vibration!
