  1. Jigs are great presentations for slow fishing from the bank. Another one is a 3/4 oz spinnerbait with a big colorado blade and reel it just fast enough to feel the blade turn. hope it works Dusty
  2. Ike has a new one out if it goes into detail on the subject it says it covers should be excelent as long as he isnt screaming
  3. you can pitch any worm I pitch 10 inchers on ocassion. My main worms to pitch are a 4 and 6 inch ring worms with the little tail. or a 6 inch culprit. 2ot hook in the small ones 5 ot in the big ones. I use offset shank hooks. weight varies with the size of the bait and depth.
  4. With Patents I was told you cannot patent anything that is to look like a living creature. If he could patent the bait he has to patent different areas of the bait. In doing so he can eliminate the copying because if the alter this and that the action will not be the same. Now for the topic at hand. Boycot all you want. If fishermen all boycotted over-priced equiptment we would all be using cane poles fishing out of 1932 Jon boats and using ors. Everything is way over priced. How much is a bag of YUM baits???? I hope you all realize YUM are the old Riverside brand baits with different packaging. I think they were 1.99 a bag when they were popluar. So with YUM you are technically overpaying for a name.
  5. Oh the glory of bassfishing. I have days where im a 10 then I'll have a week to a month where i'm a 1 or a 2. Everyonr in there life time with have that time when they are a 10. Everything just clicks. Then everyone will have the days when they are a 1. Can't cast get snagged all day if one bites you miss or loose it. But the best rating I can give myself is the compliments or the comments recieved from peers, partners and competitiors on that day. Always try to get better and maybe one day I'll be told i'm a 10 just keep working harder after being called a 10 BTW 6 on a regluar basis I hate deep clear lakes.
  6. He got a promotion at work. He also rescently has become a home owner. Hes lucky to find time to fish. He had big Bass at his last ABA tourney
  7. you fishing in a lake or river?
  8. Good work mac We spent a total 4.5 hrs on the water and caught over 45 bass. Most were caught on senkos and tubes heres the trick we had maybe 5 over 14 inches the biggest was 16 the lake limit was 18 inches. If you have a 75 to 1 ratio of keepers over a 8 hr day you are having a great day. I know you can find that one spot and catch them on every cast till they quit biting but the rest of your day you can chase your tail and not get bit.
  9. Time on the water spent anywhere will make everyone a better angler. Ball coach you are right in being fortunate enough to experience many different bodies of water at different times of the year is a big plus. Also fishing with different people everyone fishes different. If you ever get the chance fish 5 different bodies of water with 5 different guys then rotate those 5 guys threw those same bodies of water. You can really learn alot by doing this. I really want to fish with a lake fishermen one that reads maps and electronics and get indepth into deep structure fishing. This is where my game lacks. Also I am a very experienced river fisherman. I had the oppertunity to fish with Terry Brown owner of another site Terry showed me things on my home pool I hadn't done since before 1993. He made me realize a few things that I had totally over looked for 12 years and more than likely 20 years since I began fishing there. It will deffinantly help me out when I get done with college and make me that much better of an angler. You always learn every trip out if you don't learn something you are either too arogant, too closed minded, or just not paying atention.
  10. There are three little words that make life go round. Three little words that make women happy. Those same three little words make people cry. Three little words that when said get you places. Three little words that make your heart race. Three little words that make every thing disappear. Three little words that everyone should live by. What are those three little words? GET THE NET!!!!! You thought I was going to say I love you HA!
  11. I always told myself 8 lbs if caught from my area of Illinois I did get one 8 lbs in Missouri and let it swim. I often frown when I see bass under 6 lbs mounted. But it all depends on the angler and his level along with where they were caught and how old. If it was a 3 year old I'd mount his first fish or atleast a replica of it.
  12. Time on the water. We all learn tricks on here etc. But until we spend the time one the water we dont become a better at any technique till we apply it. Bass clubs, fourm sites, fishing articles and casting practice all help in hance our knowledge and ability as fishermen. Till we get on the water and apply these things its just knowledge or a skill.
  13. I have the same delima. Being a non boater in tournaments but fish out of a 16 foot jon I have way to much stuff. So every night before the tourney I analyze what I need and get it down to a manageable manner. Problem being I have caught so many fish on so many different plastics I can never get it trimmed down enough.(Was on a beaver and creature bite this spring left my traditional stuff at home got 1 keeper on my favorite jig while my partner caught 4 on the tubes I left at home) If I do I get frustrated on the water cause I left the wrong bait at home. Being a river fisherman this is harder to do. Mother nature is rougher on bait selection for river fishermen then lake guys. When we travel to our tourney destinations alot of us have to buy a particular bait we left at home cause they not hitting what we brought. One guy will have 4 rubber maid tubs in his suburban for 1 of our trips cause hes scared he will leave something at home. He was working on his Tackle at 9 am yesterday he was still working on it at 2 this afternoon and was far from done. Before he started leaving stuff in the truck he had every tackle logic binder ever made stuffed in his center compartment. 20 foot champion. He had so much stuff and so many bags he had to make himself an index and label every bag in a number system. on this index he had every bait in every color and size listed in each bag. The problem is tackle resale is the worst of anything I have ever seen. I could put 1,000 dollars worth of tackle for sale and get 50 bucks at the most for it. Reason being fishermen have the mentality that if hes selling it, it must not be good. When in all reality its still a dang good bait just moved on to other baits.
  14. Most people dont catch fish when the lake turns green from algee bloom. I can in in a couple lakes and I just flip a black/brown/amber jig with a green pimpkin trailer. Or crank the deep brush. Other lakes i dont know as well harder to catch fish. Nick go to a more powerful reel you wont get worn out cranking.
  15. The pros talk about this alot. I think it happens more in current. The top layer of the water will be muddy and underneath it will clear up. Kind of like a mudline on its side. Not just during the spring but all year. I have seen it in one area and how I knew it was happening is I was in the clear water looking at the mudline. I could actually see under the mudline that it was clean. Then I proceeded into the cove and I spun the trolling motor around and swirled the water and you could see the clean mixing with the dirty. This is the only time I have experienced this thinking they have a secret way to tell.
