  1. Thanks guys i diddnt get to work on it today due to work but am going to get some work done on it tommorow. The aluminum i am using is 3/4 inch 1/8th thick. now i got all the supports in its sturdy as a rock and once get my ply on it i dont think ill have any issues. Best part about it is it only added about 5 lbs so far and man is it easy to work with. More pics tommorow guys thanks for the help! Joe
  2. Hey thank for the comments everyone. Thats good to know i was wondering what plywood i should go with i wanna keep as much weight off as possible. I though about using aluminum for the floor as well but its expensive and i think using wood will be easier to build the hatches with.. Joe
  3. ok thanks here is my boat bone stock from the dealer. The first thing i did to it was add a seat base for my seats on the rear. I used stainless toggle bolt and 3m 5200 for good measure Next i started the framing after taking it out a few time to see what how it balance. This is as far as i got tonight before i had to call it a day the front framing will have a hatch that will hold storage like anchor and whatnot The rear frame in will house a custom cooler i will build. If you noticed the deck will come up flush with the middle seat that way i can still use the livewell in the seat. Gotta buy more aluminum and rivits tommorow. future mods include a cd player. floor between middle and rear seat. rear deck lighting and some other mods. I will continue to post pics as the project moves on i hope to finish it this week. wish me luck! Thanks guys Joe
  4. OK how do i add pictures to a post...i have them all on photo bucket...just need to get them here... Thanks Joe
  5. Hey guys I started on my new boat project today. I went and bought a new Tracker 1436 Jon boat about a week ago that i picked up as a scratch and dent for half price! The seat was pushed in but i pulled it back out and now its fine other than the dents in the floor. Anyway here are some picks ill keep updating as a work the next few days.
  6. Thanks alot that web site is great...hopefully it is in good shape when i go to look at it tommorow.. wish me luck... Joe
  7. Well i dont know anything about that list but from the research i have done OMC did make boats in the 60's. http://hhscott.com/evinrude/all_omc_boats.htm Thats one of the websites i found with information on these boats. So i know evinrude/OMC made the boat. But i just need to know what to look for when buying such an old fiberglass boat. I understand if this boat isnt your thing but if you were looking at a boat this old what would you be looking for? Thanks Joe
  8. Yea its almost just what i was looking for. Something that is small..14ft and wide that is stable enough to take 3 or 4 people out on and have a good time. I can also do some fishing off of it since it got a pretty open area in the floor plan. The motor might be alittle big for my needs as i like to go to nokamixion with is 20hp max lake but i can either put my 5hp evinrude on as a kicker or get a 20. But i mostly want to use it in the delaware and maybe some shelterd bays.. Anyone see anything wrong with this boat that i am overloaking for what i want to do?
  9. Got lots of views but nobody knows anything about this boat? What about just any advice on buying a used boat that i should look for?
  10. Hey everyone I am finnally getting ready to make the jump to a "real" boat. I currently have a 1970 12ft sears gamefisher i got for free but it isnt big enough for me. Anyway i found a boat for sale its a 1965 Evinrude Ski Lark with a 40hp evinrude motor. Owner said the engine runs good has good trailer and boat in good shape. All for $500. Im going to take a look at it tommorow but other than check the transom for rot and cracks and flex. I know to check the hull and floor rot. make shure it starts and runs obviously but is there anything in particular i should be looking for with this boat? Its a 14ft and its looks pretty deceant for the pictures i cant see the interior since its covered though so im interested to see that. Is this a good brand of boat to be starting out with? Thanks for any help everyone! this forum is great.. Joe
  11. Hey everyone thanks for your help i returned the 24 size battery and picked up a duralast deep cycle 27 for less bucks so we shall see how long it lasts when i go out in the next week or so...Thanks Again Joe
  12. Hey thanks for the reply its a brande new 55lb minnkota endura transom mount. I though it had a battery gage on it but it doesnt so im curious as to hom much life i will be able to get out of it and how i will know if its ready to die no me. Thanks Joe
  13. Hey everyone im new to the board and had a few questions about a trolling motor i just bought. I bought a minkota 55lb thrust trolling motor for my 12 1970 sears gamefisher v hull. I also got a deep cycle die hard battery with the specs.. Battery Group Size: 24M Voltage: 12.0 Power Ratings: Cold Cranking Amps (CCA at 0 deg.F): 500 Reserve Capacity (RC): 135 min. Amp Hours at 20 Hour Rate: 80 My 2 questions are this sorry if they have been beaten to death ut here goes. What kinda battery life can i expect with this motor and battery cruising around my local lake? any ideas on how many hrs it can run? Will this motor be ok for cruising the delaware on low current days without getting swept away? any idea on how fast itll push a 12 ft fiberglass v hull? Sorry but im new to the electric thing ive been running a 1971 evinrude 4 horse and i want to hit some electric lake around here. Thanks for any help and i i have gained tons of knowledge from lurking around here so far you guys are awsome! Thanks Joe
