I own a couple Cabela's XML, they are fine rods for the money. I've heard very good things about BPS Crankin Rods, again good value. The rest of my rods are G. Loomis'. The G. Loomis's are of course better rods, but again the Cabelas & BPS are still good values. IMO
People use f/c leader because it is believed to be less visible to the fish, Mono backing is used as a filler. That way you use less of the more expensive braid. IMO the # test of the mono filler matters little as I have never come close to reaching the mono when I cast.
The Cards are obviously a very good team, no doubt, but the play offs are a whole different (new) season in a sense. Hitting and especially the clutch hitting was seriously lacking. That aside, what the St. Louis Cardinals have been able to accomplish in their history for there size of market is commendable.
I'm still having nightmares from my NRX snapping (brittle) and I had a "wild card". I'm almost afraid to fish my expensive rods. That breakage has scarred me for life.
I use float tubes for trout fishing especially fly fishing. For bass I am much more comfortable standing and being above the surface of the water. For working the lures and for hook sets.
I used the "skirted punch rig" a lot this year, with good success especially in the thick. Jig is still my favorite if I don't have to penetrate the thick stuff. (Where did A-Jay's pictures of skirted punch rig go ???)
I used the "Pad Crasher" this year inplace of the Spro Frog brand that I had used for many years. The Booyah worked just as well, but was A LOT more durable. I would choose it if I could use only one topwater bait.
