  1. Thanks guys, I have a 1987 Ranger Aztec Bass Boat. And I have a 40 lb thurst foot control trolling motor. It is used and I'm not getting the speed that I want when at the highest setting. I do realize this is a heavy boat and I don't know if 40lbs is enough to push this boat. I see other boat with smaller trolling motor go pass me like I'm standing still, I don't know if it is the motor it self or me.
  2. I'm having a problem mounting my trolling motor. Does the trolling motor have to drop in the center of the boat or off too one side of the boat. I find myself moving sideways a bit instead of moving streight and the boat is pushing water instead of going with the flow. Also, I see a lot of boats with the trolling motor mounted on the left side of the boat and i have mine mounted on right does that make a differance.
  3. I am new to bass fishing and I wanted to know about lure colors and when to know what colors to use in clear water and stain waters. I'm a crank bait fishermen, and I have know idea what colors to use.
  4. I was out fishing today, and I just put knew braided line on my BC's, What I noticed was, when I casted,my line would seem to roll under the spool instead of coming off the spool from the top. Which at that point would bird nest. I let all the line off the spool, wand it back on the spool and got the same problem. Would someone know what causes this. Is it the line, the BC or Me.
  5. I'm glad to see some one else has the same problem as well. I just get a running start with the trolling motor and walk the tonge. I tried firing up the motor once to put the boat on the trailer, I'll never do that again. It cost me 500.00 bucks. When they say elec. only thats what they mean. I can't even have my motor down while trolling. That will cost you 250.00 bucks if caught.
  6. I was wondering if anyone knew of a wbsite that could give me information about an older Mercury Outboard. The motor is late 60's early 70's. I can't seem to find a thing about this motor and neigh could the Mercury company.
  7. I got a 77 range aztec, I'm trying to buy a motor for it. How can you tell what type of shaft (long or short) your boat takes or would any one work.
  8. I have a 77 Ranger Aztec, (Please bear with me) I'm changing over the motor. The problem that I'm having is the steering rod that is attached to the steering wheel does not fit into the shift of the motor. I can get about an inch of the rod into the shift but thats it. Does anyone know if I have to bore out the hole in the shift or do i have to push a little harder. Thanks
  9. I did the same thing to my 14 ft jon boat came out great. Here is a site that I used to get started. http://www.sofnet.com/~robertg/boat.htm. There are a few more out there that you can use as well. I forget the names now, but if you type in your search box, "from jon boat to bass boat", a host of websites would come up. Any questions, please email me.
  10. Need a little help! I have a 77 Ranger that didn't come with a motor. I just got a motor off of ebay, but have no idea how to install it. I have mounted the motor to the transom, now I need to know how to hook everything up. Forgive me, I know nothing about this subject, I need to know how to hook up the gas line, the turning rod, the tilt thing and how to center the motor on the boat. I have a 1971 Merc. 50 hp. Its a pull start but I have controls. Thanks
  11. Does any know what I can clean a livewell and/or bait well with, without using hash detergents.
  12. Got a question, I'm repairing the transom in my bass boat. I cut out the fiberglass in 2 pieces to remove all the wood. My question is, can I reuse the fiberglass pieces or do I have to buy new fiberglass. The pieces that I have are in good condiction. Also, if it is possible to reuse the pieces, Does anyone no the process of replacing the fiberglass. thanks
  13. There are small bass clubs everywhere. I'm a member of Bassjons out of Virginia. There is a website bassjons.com. You can get some real good information on starting a new club.
  14. Dose anyone know of a bass club in northern Virginia.
  15. I don't quite understand this water color thing when selecting the proper lure. Could someone explain to me what colors are good in dark waters, clear water, mudy water and so on. Also, when using a spinner bait whats the diferance in the blades, and which blades to use in what condictions.
