  1. Anybody else fish the Cape today?
  2. The main thing to think about when choosing a color to throw as far as jerkbaits go is water clarity.Try to stick to natural colors with fairly clean water and brighter colors in murky conditions. On the cape naturals colors dominate.I threw a rapala x rap the whole day,the color I threw has been customised from the original.Stay away from the smaller version use the 5" version.
  3. Shallow weedy ponds are the way to go up until the water temp get's to around 50 deg.alot of guys fish the deep kettle ponds and the fish are less active just hanging on the first major drops. The bite gets real tough. When the fish get in those shallow weeds they become easier to catch because there on the feed.Fish this time of the year especially on the cape relate better to grass than wood or rocks till the temp gets into the low 50's.Find the grass find the fish .
  4. Went to cape cod today.Arrived at the ramp at 7:15,water temp was 43 degrees went to 44.5 degrees.Light wind in the mourning from the S.E to 15 mph.Caught 38 largemouth with my buddy Rich. All fish where caught on jerkbaits in 4' to 6' of water,on a river channel surronded by a 3' flat on both sides .Biggest fish was 3# 5oz,average fish was about 2 #.Seen 3 other boats get there late in the mourning and talked to 2 of them and 1 guy had 1 fish and the other boat didn't have any fish yet. They were throwing jigs.I love to throw jigs but , i feel it's a big mistake throwing a jig with water that temp.Water in the low 40's is reaction bait territory. We ended up leaving at about 1:45.Hope everyone had a chance to get out today, because the winter doldrums are finally over. 8-)
  5. Good luck to everyone fishing the torney,I'll be down the cape sunday.

  14. IT NEVER WAS A REALLY GOOD SPOT,THE LAKE DOESNT HAVE THE PRESSURE DUE TO FINDING A PLACE TO PARK.THE POND ISNT A FERTILE POND ,AND I DONT BELEIVE THE RECORD CAME FROM THERE....MY OPINION
  15. 1/2 oz brwn/black/pumpkin(home made spinnerbait)#5 colorado blade(gold).
  16. THERE ARE NO TROUT STOCKED WHERE THE RECORD BASS WAS CAUGHT.I ALSO HEARD FROM AN OLD TIMER WARDEN (RETIRED),THAT THE FISH WASN'T CAUGHT AT SAMPSONS.BUT AT A NEARDY SPOT(WHICH I CANNOT DISCLOSE)..I FISH IT AND MY BEST THERE IS 7.4#,DID CATCH A LIMIT WHILE FISHING WITH A FRIEND 5 FISH 24.5 #.I KNOW THERE ARE 10#POUNDERS THERE.TO BE HONEST I'VE FISHED SAMPSONS POND AND DONT REGARD IT AS A GOOD BASS POND,PLUS THERES NO PARKING .I PARKED UP THE ROAD AT A FRIEND OF A FRIENDS HOUSE WHEN I FISHED THERE.IF YOU WANT TO CATCH BIG LARGEMOUTH AND HAVE THE PATIENTS TO THROW SOME BIG LURES TRY LONG POND PLYMOUTH,IT'S STOCKED WITH TROUT AND THE LARGIES ARE GROWING VERY,VERY BIG.

  23. 1st if you wanna seperate the men from the boys, the torney should be held in early April.Anybody can catch fish on beds, plus if you hit it right you'll catch more and bigger fish that time of year.If motors are allowed I'd like to fish.If It's trolling motor only (sounds like a R.I.) rule to me...lets see what happens.
  24. If you want to catch more bass,That haven't been around this scent use squid (smelly jelly) been using it for 5 yrs and my fish catches have gone up.(smallmouth&largemouth)I put it on everything from grubs to spinnerbaits. All my buddies are hooked..give it a try
