  1. That bracket is supposed to be there. it makes your leaf springs have travel in them. If it was bolted to the frame instead of that bracket your springs wouldn't have any travel and your trailor would bounce all over the place when you hit a hole
  2. Hey guys, Ive been doing some research and have decided to go with a 1448 grizzly tracker. But now my question is, how much HP do i need to push it? Ive got a 10 horse Johnson but don't think it will push that boat good enough.
  3. Yeah i've looked at the sticky but all it is is jon boat restoration
  4. Can anyone give me some links of some bass boat rebuild topics. I can't find anything
  5. Here's you a question lol. Do you know of any sites that have rebuild threads of bass boats? I'm probably about to start on one
  6. He told me 850. It is a 16 foot monarch tri-hull with a 75 horse motor on it. All it NEEDS is a new throttle and new guages. It has a fairly used trolling motor on it. The fiberglass is not in bad shape at all. No cracks or anything that i can tell. But my only problem is that it's a 1975 year boat and i'm afraid of what kinda strength the fribrglass still has in it. I plan on builing new decks and such (building the interior like i want it). What would you guys say? The boat it's self is not in bad shape at all and it has a basically new trailor. Oh yeah and it needs a new trolling motor quick connect plug thing.
  7. This happened to me and my uncle the other day in his bass tracker. It turned out to be his battery. Just take your battery back since it's new and get another to replace it
  8. You can do what i did and build a sunk-in deck
  9. Yeah you can but i wouldn't be doing cartwheels or anything in it lol
  10. Okay now i got you. Thanks alot!
  11. Fishhawk, You'd still be able to see the scres tho
  12. You can get something called a pond prowler that cabelas and basspro sell. They come at the max 9 ft. i think. But you won't be able to put a deck on it or anything due to stability
  13. It would have 2x2 supports under it
  14. One of the reasons people use alluminum is because of weight. It relly isn't a big deal. Use 3/4 inch plwood for your deck and indoor/outdoor carpet. You could use marine and it will do the same thing.
  15. 2x2's will do it for the framing and 3/4 inch plywood for the actual deck. Make sure you use water treatment on all wood beofre you install for good or put carpet on it.
  16. Congrats man! Looks like you got a good one! Know i's time to take her fishin!
  17. Hey guys, i'm trying to get evrything together on my new project so i got another question. Being as on my last project to attack my carpeted pieces i had to use ss screws and finishing washers i just don't like the look. How do you guys that have decks attach yours to your framing underneath? I have'nt seen a screw or anything in yall's
  18. Well now that i've converted one boat i think it's time for another being as i think the other one is just too narrow for my liking. So i've found a flat bottom 1436 jon with the 3 bench seats in it. But the problem is i don't know what to do about my whole set-up. I'm not sure if i wanna deck all the way back to the middle seat or mid ways between the front and middle seat or what to do. I'm leaning more towards the decking all the way back to the middle bench. Can somebody give me some ideas of what they think i should do? Any other ideas or pictures would be great too. Thanks!
  19. What if i had three seats and took the center one out? It would be about the same hull strenght as a 2 seater right?
  20. But what would i do after i drilled them out? Would i just put a rivet in the holw to fill it in?
  21. I'm wanting some links to some boat builds. All i can find is the same ones. I'm looking for alot of ideas for a 1436 when i get mine. And i was wondering if anyone knew how to remove the bench seat the right way.
  22. Welli can give you a brief tutorial of how to do it. Jon Boat to Bass Boat: -Use alluminum angle pieces to make your support for your deck -Treat you plwood before you put carpet on it with Helmsmam outdoor water treatment or fiberglass resin -Use indoor-outdoor carpet or marine grade carpet -Use a outdoor carpet glue -Use glue and staples(if you want to) -Make sure all of your hardware is stainless steel(EVERYTHING!!!! Or it will rust!) -Make sure your boat is atlest 36" at the bottom before decking to tht tops of the bench seats -Don't deck higher that the bench seats! -Make sure you do your wiring BEFORE you install all of your carpeted pieces -When your putting a screw in don't have your hand on the other side of the wood- or you'll have a holw in your finger like i do(powerpro screw+my hand=@%##! -Make sure you use of plenty of water treatment -Know what EXACTLY your going to do to your boat before you start sutting pieces(or you'll mess up alot of good wood you would need for something else down the road -Look at other peoples ideas before you start -Build your boat how you want it built, because your going to be fishing out of it How to paint: I'm not for sure but here is some of what i do know -Scuff up original paint with 80-120 grit sandpaper -Use a degreaser to clen -Spray self-etching primer -Spray marine grade or automotive paint on it
