  1. I have never gone around blabbing about my spots! If I did the next thing I would know, there would be a bunch of worm chuckers out there keeping everything they caught no matter how big or small. Culling this lake would be way to hard with only me and my friend doing it. I don't want to let the word out to everyone. The company sold it to the owner and he doesnt allow any fishing there exept for us. I'll just stick with catching the fat hard fighting 14". And I was using swimbaits without any luck. I need something that can get down to 30+ ft. fast.
  2. Thanks alot for the info Dan. There are some big gills in there but I know that there has to be big bass too! The quarry is too big to not have some giants in it. Should I start harvesting the big gills?
  3. So this month has been full of firsts for me! My first senko fish! {now I believe I have mastered senkos, as I have caught tons on them already.} My first crankbait fish! {I know it's sad but I never really tried them out until now.} My first swimbait fish! I know all this makes me sound like a newb, but I have had so much success with jigs over the years that I haven't tried many new things. Also I found a new secret spot. My friend got me permission to fish in a quarry with him. The place hasn't been touched for a good 4 years. We went yesterday and absolutely smoked 'em! I caught 23 and my buddy caught the same. Many of the bass were on beds and others were just cruising. All the fish were very healthy and strong fighters, and most of them were around 13" and 14". I know that sounds small but these fish were all fat weighing around 2-3lbs. Now here is my problem. Here is this beautiful huge quarry. With tons of nice fat healthy bass, but yet I didn't see or catch one hog. Do you think they are all deep? The quarry is probably over 50 ft. deep right off shore. What is the best way to catch them from shore? With a live bait rig on a slip bober? I have no idea.
  4. The guy in the pic with the huge walleye is not me. I just took it off google images to show a reference of what a 12lb. walleye should look like. Sorry for not clarifying.
  5. Here is a twelve pound walleye.
  6. That is a great eye! I'm not quite sure that it looks to be twelve pounds. Great fish anyways, grab it under the gills and lose the gloves.
  7. Good fish! Congratulations! Lose the gloves though, lol. For those high pads I am no expert but I would suggest flipping and pitching soft plastics with a nice heavy bullet weight,{1/2 oz. or better.}
  8. Anyways, GREAT FISH!!! You must be excited!
  9. Man so many of you guys have it made! Your always catching huge fish! As for my area :'(
  10. Well I went into gander mountain today with my heart set on a Compre, but I ended up with something different. My buddy that works there talked me into a St. Croix Premier. I didn't really want a St. Croix but I compared it with the Compre and it was way more sensitive! I don't like the design of it as much but the sensitivity is what sold me! Do any of you own Premiers? What are your thoughts on them?
  11. That is a great fish! And you caught her on 6lb test so that makes it even better! Man I wish they grew that big here in the north!
  12. I'm trying to find my brand or rods. Everybody has one that they really like, and stick with. Some may be Loomis, Kistler, St. Croix, so on and so forth. I have a had a Shimano Clarus rod for about three years now and I have been very pleased with it. I need a new spinning rod and was thinking about a Compre. Does anyone own one of these rods? Are they a good rod? All my reels are Shimano so I figured it would be cool to have all Shimano rods. Any feedback would be appreciated.
  13. That fish was my cousins. I always take good care of trophy fish.
  14. Yea the water is starting to go down. It is still pretty high, but it has been high for so long that the water has cleared up. We are just fishing in eddies where there are shallow flats. I caught mine on a crawfish imitation. My cousin's was caught on live bait.
  15. It was in the low 60's here today, and we wear long sleeves because we fish around alot of poison ivy. :'(
