  1. I have a link to the wiggle stone on my forums. Follow the www at the bottom of my post to the forum and look for tying tutorials. I dont want to post the link for fear it may be looked at as advertising. I can do the sculpin within the next week. Ill post it right here, but no need to do the same tutorial over again.
  2. Ill have to check that out.
  3. Ive said this many times over and I'll say it again... The problem is not supply and demand. People have sold their big trucks, big boats and more and more are turning to public transportation. Most people have even changed how they heat their home. Demand is WAY down. The problem lies in the fact that oil is a publicly traded commodity. The investors are setting the price of oil. Anyone from anywhere in the world can buy the stock. Whos to say that other countries arent buying shares by the millions to put us into an economic slump. Think that cant happen? Why wouldnt they do something that easy, its easier then flying a plane into a building. Until the government steps in and takes control and stops the sale of oil on the stock exchange its going to continue to rise. Annalists are predicting that oil will hit over $200 a barrel by next year. That means were looking at about $7/gallon for gas. How many of you now need that extra 10mph on your bass boat? I for one can live with a 50.
  4. Guys, I must say I have never gotten this down quite right. Do you completely take the brake off your baitcaster when pitching. I understand the execution of how its done but I cannot get the line to come off the reel like I want to. If i take it to light i seem to get backlashes, maybe im just not quick enough. Any tips?
  5. you must have gotten a special spool, that stuff is so stiff it JUMPS off of the reel.
  6. I live about 200 yards from two of the best trout streams in pa. One is stocked, in the later part of summer it gets very warm and the smallies from the local lake run for at least 30 miles of it. Not a soul fishes it. Try fishing common flies you would use for trout. Big stonefly patterns, small crayfish, minnow immitations. Check out a pattern called the "Wiggle Stone", invented by my sponsor. This pattern and Senyo's Sculpin won Greg a big award recently. If you want to see how either are tied let me know. Ill do a tutorial on here.
  7. My concern with that truck would be NEVER EVER get the back tires in the water. Be ok with the boat on but as soon as you lose that weight you're gonna spin! Then you might end up in the drink. Maybe its the length of my trailer but I cannot launch my 14ft john without getting the back tires in. I always put it in 4wd. I was coming down a rather steep mountain Saturday morning and was going just a tad to fast, scary, no trailer brakes. When I buy my nitro this winter its DEFINITELY getting trailer brakes.
  8. Zoom actually makes a "Shaky Head" also. The trick worms are actually supposed to be fished weightless.
  9. Just use very small curly tail jigs, they outfish live bait. That is unless youre taking young ones. Then you can fake them out if you got a boat, just turn the trolling motor on 1.
  10. No amount of reading can substitute for time and things learned on the water.
  11. I wish I lived close enough to participate. Have fun!
  12. Ive used it for leaders on carolina rigs. I would NEVER spool that stuff.
  13. Its not a lengthy process really either. The way it works... You send me the baits, tell me what you want done to them. All you pay me for is materials. You pay postage both ways and get your baits back. Its custom to also maybe offer the person a bait/fly that you fish for doing the work. Example, you send me 4 jerkbaits you want feather/flash on. Costs you $4 to ship it both ways. and about 50 cents per bait, if that, more likely a quarter. Be interested in doing a swap if others are interested too. Dont know if you guys have ever tried this either but you could do something like... 10 people. One person hosts. Each person sends the host 10 of the same baits they like. The person sends each person back ten new baits to try. Gives you the ability to not only see what others are using but do it without forking out a fortune. This would be a good thing for soft plastic baits. Or maybe 5 guys and crankbaits. Just a way of passing on info and getting a wider selection of stuff to use. Right now im in one on another fishing forum for stonefly patterns. 10 guys all tie their favorite pattern and the same thing goes down.
  14. ** Moderator Note ** If you intend to promote a product or service, please talk with the Administrator (Glenn) about becoming a sponsor. Otherwise, promotions are NOT allowed. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator Wasnt planning to sell the things, just offer the service for the price of the baits. Im not a retail business. Kinda like a fly swap type thing, or where someone sends you the baits. I dont know, maybe youve never heard of someone doing that. Quite common in the fly fishing world.
  15. I like my Daiwa Capricorn, it comes in a lefty. I picked it up for I think $70. Oh, the baitcaster, they also make a spinning reel with the same name.
  16. I called the fish commission on the Amish here recently. I stopped at a popular pier to do some night fishing. Keep in mind, I release EVERY fish I catch. I dont mind people keeping crappies, thats what I think they are for. But this lake has a restriction and they were literally filling coolers with sub legal fish. I carry both the fish and game commission numbers in my cell. I actually called the game commission this year in rifle season because I saw the same truck go up and down the road ten times in less then an hour. After that, I never saw it again. You gotta police our wildlife, theres just not enough paid people to do it.
  17. I tie flies buy the thousands. You wouldnt believe how many spinners/jerkbaits/jigs ive home made that look better then anything on the shelf. Yes, they do catch fish. Its nice being able to have that stuff around already and throw a feather on the back trebble of any lure. I can take a cheap jerkbait and make it a fish catching machine. Ive actually thought about posting that if anyone was interested I would do custom orders of baits.
  18. Bass Resource allows you to look at any map of any lake you want. Shows structure and if you really want you can buy them.
  19. At my buddies camp pond, we've been after this bass I KNOW is 10lbs for two years. He went and bought 30lb braid to land this fish and it still took him, wrapped him up and got off. This bass is enormous. Keep going back!
  20. Check your math, he said he caught 20-22 pounds Good luck Peidy P He is a she
  21. I never personally fished them. My cousin had a set when they first came out. We fished a tributary which gets a good smallmouth run. He outfished me with live SHINERS at least 10:1. I couldnt believe it.
  22. Yep, if you want a paste mix it with vasoline or Crisco. Melt either in the microwave, add your scent, stir well and put it in the freezer so the particles suspend fast. In regards to human scent dont think so much about your rod and such but things like GAS, Cigarette smoke, SNUFF ! Ever notice how it seems easier to catch fish after you catch that first one. Gets that fish smell on them, then they think hey... that smells like fish. Im not a fish wisperer or anything but Ive seen that scenario many times.
  23. I dont see the worms on your list... finess worms would be best I assume. Also with the fact you see so many small panfish throw some kind of jerk bait. Whats the water temp? Keep that fluke on your list.
  24. did the tank sit? is there an inline fuel filter?
