  1. Not all oils mix well either, really you should be cleaning those items down to bare metal before introducing any other kind of oil or grease. Otherwise you might end up with poor performance.
  2. The other thing is when you buy a new reel they come absolutely CAKED in packing grease. The first thing I do is tear it apart, clean all that grease out. Put new grease in, drop the bearings out and soak them in lighter fluid, spin them then relube with something good, clean all grease in the spool areas out... basically it doesnt even get the first test till its been totally blown apart and reassembled.
  3. LC Sammy in Ghost Xcaliber Red Craw 600 Yard spool of Pline 6lb fluro BPS 7.1 Qualifier - Was hoping for a lexa but this reel is nice too Solar Bat Glasses Zoom Pumpkin Finesse Worms Couple rapala cranks and jerks Manual for my outboard
  4. Yes and also send this guy the link
  5. When you buy your flurocarbon make sure to swing by and get a gallon of KVD line conditioner. If you dont fish that pole for a week its going to be jumping off the spool like the spool is made out of fire.
  6. I fish lefties, every time there is a sale it never fails they dont have one, oh well I guess Ill keep forking out full price cause im not about to switch hands mid cast cycle.
  7. I hate to burst your bubble but unless you can prove you are exceptional with math you will be taking math of some form while in college. I work in a technology based university and have done everything from financial aid to building servers. Pick something you love, maybe fisheries science. Either way, no getn around math bud.
  8. Thats just a broad start, its more like hour to hour some days. In the heat of summer I can run up into grass flats and catch them for the first half hour in a foot of water. The sun comes over the horizon and theyre GONE!!!
  9. You have to learn to adjust the bait and location with the season or you are fighting a losing battle. If you cant produce at least some fish on a jig you must either be missing them or going way too big for the depth.
  10. Hes about as far away from the tribs as you can get in PA. Thats a good 5.5 hour run for him minimum
  11. You can afford it, you put a $1000 depth finder on your boat
  12. You know what I think is funny. Some guy somewhere put on a pair of polarized glasses and proclaimed..."These make me see in HD, Ill market that" and now people buy "HD sunglasses" that are in horrible frames made out of horrible materials so they can "see in HD".
  13. My favorite smallie "bait" is a live hellgramite lol I catch them on all kinds of stuff to focus on one
  14. Green line to me blends in because in my eyes it looks like a piece of grass floating.
  15. Ive been working on tackle(cleaning reels, replacing bearings) and brewing booze. We just gave away all but 5 bottles of 5 gallons of blackberry wine I made(christmas presents). I have 5 gallons of hard apple cider to bottle but the bottles are out there in that shed and need the labels removed and sanitized. I was going to do it this week and never got to it. Maybe tomorrow. The cider is going to be bottle carbed so it still needs time after bottling. Its been sitting since Oct in bulk fermentation. These colder temps are perfect to make a lager beer also. Wonder how many guys on here think a lager is some form of a darker beer. Color has no indication of taste. Coors light is a lager! Lagers are lagers due to the yeast fermenting from the bottom up vs top down(an ale yeast) and the temperature at which fermentation takes place. Ale yeast needs a higher temp than a lager yeast. Its funny when someone says..."i dont like lagers" as they stand there and drink a bud light or a coors.
  16. Here is the view off my deck, theres a mountain back there that you cant see its snowing so hard. I was going to late season archery hunt today but that snow on the deck wasnt there last night and we already had 6" so now walking is even beginning to be a problem.
  17. Dont be afraid of light line either. I have put 15lb steelhead in the net on 2lb tippet, of course you wont van dam them over the side of the boat with that line but its possible to land a bigger fish on lite line
  18. I can put a drop shot zoom finesse worm on and catch a fish within 10 mins. When I get skunked its a RARE day. Downsize your baits and your line diameter. Ive been a bass fisherman since a kid but in my teens into the middle 20's I was a fly fishing jedi master. I could have 100 fish days on streams that were C&R with fisherman all around me not catching anything. Three of the biggest things that made major differences were and will always be... 1: Sitting at the correct depth, fish feed at different parts of the water column based on prey 2: Fly size(bait size), if theyre eating a size 26 midge, you wont force feed them a size 14 pheasant tail 3: Tippet(leader) size, a change from 4x to 6x depending on water conditions and pressure could turn a day around instantly
  19. Fixed it for you. The color selections TW offers in baits alone far surpasses bass pro. Look at the reaction innovations bait on bass pro then go look on tackle warehouse. TW's search feature lets something to be desired
  20. I have a lightening shock and just bought a new abu vertias(spelling)... anyhow to the story... I went in with the intention of buying another shock because the rod feels good. Every single one I picked up had something broken, reel seat, guides missing, cracked glass.... I wont be buying another. If you watch around here they go up for sale a lot too, that tells me its not a great rod for $50. I have an older IM4 field and stream rod thats going on 6+ years. I would have two but I broke the tip off the other in a car and chucked it in the trash. That rod I paid $20 for, sure its not a dream to cast but it works and has put some really nice fish in the boat. Its stiff, rated at a medium action which to me it feels like a heavy compared to newer rods.
  21. You should see how much I have in soft plastics alone, it would take up an entire tackle bag. I have so much gear that I dont even like to fish out of other boats because I feel naked. Dont worry, over time youll have more stuff. Heck, just from christmas alone I have probably 17 new items to add into my already overwhelming stock. Im getting to the point I need to sell some things I dont use.
  22. Tackle warehouse has such a better selection that the only reason its not my exclusive place to order fishing stuff is because they dont offer a wish list to share with family. Everything I got for christmas came off a bass pro or cabelas wish list.
  23. Your wife must have your credit card number
  24. I had an older very large ugly stick and I couldnt find a good use for it till I tried drop shot with it. The tip is very slow, protects that lighter line well. Its the only thing I use that rod for, drop shot rig never leaves it.
  25. More often than not the line will just take off to one side then you cross their eyes.
