  1. Ive read the oxygenator does nothing, i dont own one to know though
  2. Well, it blew the fuse again, after running great the day before with no blown fuse. I think I am starting to see some sort of pattern here when im coming out of no wakes, makes me think this tach is WHACK!
  3. Really? How does that even compare? The bass has to choose to eat your lure, the grouse you walked up on sitting there who has a second to choose to hold tight or flush. You can force a grouse to flush, you cant force a bass to bite.
  4. Some of you are highly mistaken in your assessment. Would I love to have that 20 million dollar home, you bet I would. But heres a little note for those that missed it in life, not everyone who has money made it themselves. I could see being mad if I am standing on your dock and fishing but thats not the scenerio, the scenerio is fishing AROUND your property and the person being mad about the fact a guy who likes to fish can do so. I dont care if you own a freaking shack with one room or a twenty million dollar home. I have friends that range from people who can fly private jets at anytime they want to any location in the world the whole way down to people who can barely afford to eat. What I do know is that when I have something special I can appreciate it for what it is and how it came to be without needing to run down to the end of the dock everytime I see someone flipn it. Oh if my problems and worries in life only revolved around a total stranger doing an activity they love and me having the ability to treat them like trash because I have and they have not, yep sounds like a life I would lead. Not really, id probably build MORE structure to fish in front of, just cause I could.
  5. If I ever become lucky enough to own a dock on a popular fishing lake in this lifetime, ill be sure to sit back in my recliner, with my playboy wife and chear them on from inside the air conditioning. People dont realize just how good life is that you can even begin to afford such a thing. Its unreal the amount of money that some people have into lake front homes that they never even show up to but once a year. Guys bulldozing 1 million dollar homes to build 20 million dollar homes then worry about a guy fishing from a bass boat, get a grip.
  6. You throwing right into the center or past it and reeling in?
  7. I may have caught him last night but my confidence on the issue wont let me stop thinking about it till I know. Heres what happend, a few weeks back I was working on something, didnt think about it and started the boat with the charger on and plugged in. I noticed smoke at the control and shut it back off. I knew I cooked something. So into the control and I found the burned wire. I cut out the bad section, soldered in a new section, heat shrinked, wrapped in tape and went on my way. Now, at the most random times the fuse is blowing. Back into the control at least three times since then, a final one last night where I tore that control to ground zero and covered everything, checked everything from the trim switch to the key. It wont blow this fuse on muffs in the driveway. I even tested it at night to look for arching. Ive been into the motor as well, the trim solenoid shows no sign of a problem, no wires in there show an issue, the relays look ok. My question I guess is could those relays or the solenoid be bad and only show a problem at WOT. Remember, this is a very random time when this fuse blows. Also, I can see at least one wire under the dash that runs back with the control other than the tach and that looks to be the wire for the livewell switch. Should I fuse the wire after it leaves the control before entering the tach? Could the tach be demanding more than 12v at some point causing this fuse to blow? The motor was just rebuilt and never had issue till I pulled that bone head move. Its definitely not wires at the motor, like I said, I covered everything and rebuilt that control from scratch last night, took me 4 hours so I may have it fixed, if not, I dont know where to go from here.
  8. Two weeks ago, tournament day. Hammered fish from sunup till 9:30, the bite then completely shut down on me and I never caught another fish till 1:30. My local lake, last time I fished it, same deal, till about 10am max then nothing. They shift into the shade or back down to that first break, or heck they even suspend in open water.
  9. I'm not weighing, fish hits the board if close, tag in, livewell. Its about three extra seconds. If you're going back through trying to decide who to tag and who to cull the lost time is much greater. Good luck grabbing that free swimming smallie Lol.
  10. You wanna have a little fun, get 5-10 guys to show up, everyone throw down $10, fish for one big fish each and weigh it on a handheld everyone agrees on. Pay out the top 3 100% and call it a day
  11. hawgtech, forum sponsor or the aftermarket ones at TW should fit
  12. Spf 50 never leaves the deck
  13. I tag em immediately, its the best way to get ahold of the right fish in a timely fashion. Reach in, grab a color, nope thats not him, must of been the red one. If I know one is more likely to cull then the others I try to label him/her green that way green=go.
  14. Its also quite possible you waited too long. Recently if I dont crack them as soon as I feel anything they are gone, sometimes I am just not fast enough.
  15. It depends on what your trying to cram through the mouth. I "tv hookset" anything with a single hook. I tend to set the hook up and to the side of the body doing the crankn. If your trying to put an owner 5/0 through that top of the head you better smash him.
  16. I think you missed the point of that thread completely. Not many people are dumb enough to wing a 1oz jig up near someones chris craft. A lot of times these owners who get bent, do so at guys fishing the sides of the docks with no boats. If you think certain docks arent better than the next than you have never fished a true dock lake. A lake like Chautauqua for example, some of those docks you could fish for weeks and never catch a fish on them. Some of them, due to how they meet certain under water features cause bass to stack up on those docks. Its usually the guy who has that hot dock that meets the contour who gets bent. Well bud, it just so happens that the first breakline of sand to rock and drop all happens within five feet of your dock, thats why people fish it, its a game of odds. Maybe you like to pay taxes and fishing license money to see guys who have more money than respect for the common guy yell at anglers but not I. That lake was there before he made his millions and will be there long after he is dead and gone. I see a lot of people like to use analogies so Ill make one of my own. This is like the guy when you were a kid who every time you hit a baseball into his property from the public park he took it. Or better yet, Im the guy whos property the city water line starts on, therefore Im gonna shut it off cause I dont want you to drink any of it. Money buys no one the right to treat another like trash and just the opposite is true. Everyone could just respect each other a little bit on both sides of this fence and there would be no issue. If the guy who owns the dock sees someone a little close to his boat he could say "Hey bud, id appreciate it if you only fish the other side of the dock or not skip up near the boat". Instead what most do is come out, puff out their chest like theyre someone special and proclaim how they spend tens of thousands of dollars in year for fees to have a dock.
  17. I had five fish in the box two weekends ago for almost 8 hours. I had the livewell full early and it stayed full all day. The fish all but one never had one issue. The one that did, I brought her from 40ft in a hurry and didnt attempt to fizz her as I didnt see a bladder coming out. She was weird from the moment she went in the livewell. I had to watch her throughout the day but the end of day, all fish left just like they went in. One fish literally JUMPED out of the livewell as I was putting them in the bag. It was hot, I was more worried about not taking good enough care of myself as at one point I thought I was gonna drop. Im not sure if an 02 system wouldve helped her. The pump on my boat isnt a recirc, its incoming fresh water. When the box filled I had the timer on its lowest setting so it was kicking on every min, between the spray bar and bubble system those fish looked great. Knock on wood ive never put a fish in the livewell that died. Unlike many, I dont have a $25,000 boat, I have a $5000 boat so accessories do add up. I think if I had a boat I was intending to keep for 10 years or more then a o2 system would go in it. My boat could never hold a two man 10 fish limit livewell is big enough for 5-7 decent size bass.
  18. Part of the reason you carry insurance also right? You do have an insurance policy on your boats I hope.
  19. I backed in, got in, tried to pull off, couldnt figure it out, backed in further and still couldnt get it off. Then a guy flipping the docks said... no way that boat didnt float that deep its gotta still be strapped. I immediately said "Youre exactly right what it is, I never took them off" I was out of it that morning.
  20. It does make you wonder just how often people are cheating. Fished a tournament the other weekend where I had a really solid day and I thought I would at least make a 3rd place check. I was so far back I dont even think I made top ten. A lake putting up 18lbs for one guy in 8 hours is pretty impressive in the north. If you also have the lunker I can understand it but when you show up with a 3.5lb avg on a lake with 50 boats fishing it does make you **** your head and wonder a little. I just fish for me, and if in my mind I won... I won. I dont care what the boards say, if I think I fished my best and still lost, then thats what happened cheating or not but for me, I won.
  21. I think I am going to fish a buddy tournament on the river in a month or so alone. It doesnt bother me one bit, some guys dont like it. I personally like not having to worry about anyone else. Not sure how it would be less fish, I find I catch less fishing with people because often times the bites they have are bites I wouldve had. If its in your head you cant fish without them, you already lost.
  22. Lock on the pin for the receiver and on the trailer, like stated, keeping honest people honest.
  23. I pulled a good one about 2-3 weeks ago, tried the ol bill dance launch where I never took the straps off the trailer. I blame the morning because I had a tournament I didnt make cause I set the alarm for sat instead of sunday and was just not focusing. I did smoke the fish though but boy I felt dumb.
  24. It doesnt matter who makes it as long as theyre all different shades of brown and olive, youre welcome drive through
  25. I keep saying I am never gonna run fluoro again and then at some point I do. I put 12lb red label I had in the boat on my crankn rod the other day and thought id have major issues. I then let all the line out with a crankbait and cranked it up before use. I dont know if its the better braking system compared to my old reels or what it is, but with these new reels I didnt have a problem this round. If I can find something that would be consistent with results as far as manageability id probably fish it. Though I gotta say mccoy copoly is some awesome line and has not failed me yet. 15lb mccoy and a jig oh they better watch out.
