How about just buying a piece of brushed aluminum the size of the hole and then only cut out what you need for the fish finder. If you wanted to go a different route you could even make a fiberglass filler and then paint it or wrap it in something like fake carbon fiber.

For anyone out there who may be wondering... you can buy white and make almost any of the brighter colors with coolaid. I have done so to tie a hint of orange into sulphurs as the ones here have an orange abdomen. Take the coolaid and mix it up strong, say only a cup, replace water with vinegar and dip it in. You could do the same with food coloring too, like an easter egg.

I like that orange belly one. Part of the issue here was I had no idea what hook would go on what bait. Like you, when I tie my own I can tie in the color schemes. Those are nice baits!

Marabou is fairly weak. I use it in a lot of "hair jigs". Whats neat about it is that it actually breathes. Maybe no one has ever brought it to market to test if it would sell. I have a KILLER idea for bass fishing but I need to make some contacts with people who can ensure I dont lose what might be my only money making thought in this lifetime. I really wish I could just blurt it out and tell you what this idea is but I honestly believe that it could set the bass fishing world on fire so I am watching myself till I get some contacts made. Do not use treated plywood if its against aluminum, use a regular sheet coated in epoxy thinned out or just go crazy with thomposon water sealer. I built my last boat aluminum decks from scratch even replacing the transom. On the transom I took slow setting epoxy and thinned it to create a barrier, on the decks I used waterseal and it worked awesome. I bet the guy who bought it isnt even beginning to think about replacing decks in it.

The drop shot for me has my confidence so high that if I throw it and it doesnt produce a fish I will move. My favorite bait to throw is a jig and 90% of the time its on some form of rock. If I cant get that jig bite going Ill pick up that drop shot rod. If i can boat one bass of any size I will adjust from there. The drop shot is so effective in my mind that its almost not fair to the fish. Some people are just killing their drop shot action by jacking a 1/0 hook into the bait. Ive caught 10lb steelhead on size 20 hooks so I know that its not necessary to have a hook that size. Im nose hooking 6's and 8's most times on a trick worm when I drop shot. Its all about a light presence sometimes. One time I was fly fishing a stocked stream, that pool I couldnt produce a fish on a size 20 fly, thats small for those who never fly fish. I dropped down to a size 28 black midge and landed two holdver browns, one was 26" and the other 24"
