ATX, if all else fails and the trip doesnt go as planned if you can get back to KS you will probably do fine in walk in areas. I have never hired an outfitter. Buddy of mine went to KS and hunted public, he could see another guy from the stand he was in. The guy let a bach group of 4 - 150"+ bucks walk right under him and never picked up a bow. Those guys out there are not like the east coast mentality of kill em all.
Ill have enough points to go to Iowa next year. Im thinking an elk or a pronghorn the year after. I love whitetails but I can hunt them at home or a lot closer to home(ohio, ny), so going half way across the US for one seems a little foolish.
