  1. I knew going into this weekend it would be tough, its basically frontal or post frontal, on and off all weekend. I didnt get to fish this weekend but sounds like I didnt miss much. Buddy called me last night to tell me a 20 boat tournament at the lake five miles down the road... results.... not a single fish between 20 boats.
  2. I dont know about your lake but my local lake is changing every year recently. The DCNR has a surplus of money to build structure on this lake and every winter its been something new. Last winter they redid a popular cove when the lake was down with giant bolders. This year they went into an unpopular area, put in posts and rock piles about every 25-50 yards with boards sticking out. There was also talk of trees being dropped which hasnt happened yet. This lake is about the same size, sees a tournament every day from begin of summer till end, sometimes 2-3 seperate tournaments a day. Everyone is out there drop shotting and throwing a shakey head, its like they dont believe its possible to catch a fish any other way anymore. I catch my big fish on some things people wouldnt even consider fishing at certain times. Last year I caught a really nice one mid summer on a 1/16oz hair jig in 20ft of water.
  3. You should be able to disconnect the fuel line from the motor by pulling the fitting off a barb. Something in those carbs is still stickn, likely the floats if its just dumping gas out of the front. A little bit is acceptable. When you rebuilt the carbs did you take the passage caps out and clean in there too? Did you adjust the floats by turning the bank upside down before putting it completely back together? Is this a two stroke or a four, if its a two that explains the hard starting as older two strokes can sometimes crank and crank and crank before they will fire.
  4. I recently took a live target mouse and replaced his legs with gray zonker strips for making flies. I havent seen it on the water yet but it looks awesome.
  5. I vote dont bother
  6. One of my worst was a fly in the webbing between my thumb and pointer. I was reaching to grab the fish when it let loose. I find myself taking the barbs off of hooks in certain situations. Another one I was out fishing with a buddy and we stopped for a beer. I noticed he had a crankbait in his sole of his shoe. I went to pull it out and burried it in my hand. Took a shot and ripped that one out with a key... ugh.
  7. if youre fishing senkos without the wacky tool, you have more money than brains.
  8. If you shoot a crossbow 40 yards is no problem, its the guys trying to take 100 yard shots that have problems. The biggest issue with a crossbow is weight, it limits a few behind shots too but for the most part its like shooting a gun. I personally refuse to use one till I physically cant use a regular bow.
  9. the norman dd22 is the cheapest deep diver I know of, the name suggests it runs 22' the package suggests it runs about 18 tops. You need a couple to cover that range. Sure you could take a little john dd and grind it in the bottom at six feet, that wont make it effective.
  10. You might be able to rebuild it. Is it really a caliper as in disc brakes or is it a drum brake? Take the caliper to a local mechanic, i bet he can find something.
  11. Spending time chasing women instead of chasing the hunt/fish while I was young. I think about what shape ill be in when I can finally get to some of these places in life and know I wont have the ability to push it like I couldve. My biggest regret is thinking I was indestructable and ruining my shoulder in extreme sports.
  12. bass fished, low of 33 water temp trout/steelhead fished, water temp low 40, air temp below zero.
  13. Youll be fine, no way an airbrush is going to use that much. Painting with air is rated in what the gun needs, not the size of the tank. A gun that uses say 13 cfm will need a compressor that can at least produce that or it will cycle more than usual. I painted my trailer last year with a 5gal 6cfm dewalt construction grade compressor.
  14. Im amazed how many guys just go strait to finesse tactics which I assume if they catch fish, which it likely does you stick with it? Miles well not own anything but a spinning rod. Theres a couple of rods that never leave my deck, which I grab depends on cover. One is a spinnerbait rod, the other a jig rod, ones a shakey/dropshot rod, one is a crankbait rod. Ive got a light swimbait rod, a jerkbait rod. Ive got enough rods to handle like 10 different tactics at a moments notice. Sometimes that can be my downfall as its too easy to change. All depends on time, day, history of the lake. Some bodies of water I know I can kill em on top, some I dont even bother.
  15. there google search blurb should read, zoom founder and owner doesnt know when to pull out his mouldy money, that website SUCKS.
  16. theres a reason sexy shad is so popular.
  17. my boat is a tracker 17, no its not as stable as glass but im not out there doing cartwheels in it either, im fishing.
  18. the only cure is more cowbell
  19. thats not paint, its powder coating
  20. I usually grow food to eat myself but I also grow food for the animals I hunt. In a couple weeks I will have 125 different seedlings to plant. 25 apples of my own 100 of a combo of apples, oaks of different varieties at a buddies house. Food plots will go in soon too for spring then summer will come to an end and food plots for fall.
  21. You miles well forget it when it comes to a company as large as TW without being a top dog. Youre going to have to tune your expectations down a little and find some smaller companies to help you first. You would be surprised who would sponsor a fisherman, everyone from subway and the local pizza shop to bait makers who dont have a huge following. There is a catch, you have to prove to them that you are getting them attention, not just talk about it.
  22. Why would it even matter, if you broke some of it off, the taper is now different and a different diameter. Dial calipers would be his best friend.
  23. Some inland lakes have stripers year round ... or are they wipers(hybrids?)
  24. I never knew guys took them out on purpose. Its amazing that clutch(ar bearing) can hold that back. What would be the purpose of removing it completely from one??
  25. I fell in with my orvis superfine in high water. It was recovered a week later by a kid fishing downstream who met me and gave it back(i made posters). The rod was broken and completely gone 6" from the end of the cork grip. That rod was $500 at the time. I called orvis, they said send it in... lol. I said ma'am there isnt much here to send. So I sent it. Two weeks went by and the phone rings. It was orvis telling me they had no blanks of that type to replace that rod any more, it was a 7'11" superfine, the one they quit making in a two piece. They then said, mr hoffman, open our catalogue and pick any rod in the new superfine line and we will send it to you at no cost. I will forever be an orvis fan.
