  1. I had that happen to me on the Potomac with what Im certain was the lunker for nation. I was big mad
  2. Got in the habit of it fishing nation and traveling to places like the potomac river. Not exactly a place to let a key in anything. Where I live I can let my doors unlocked.
  3. I was pretty partial to daiwa at one point, then i moved to lews and as they all phase out it will be nothing but shimanos i purchase going forward. I loved opening a lews yesterday and realizing I paid about $200 for it a few years ago and the pinion gear feels like a coffee grinder without the spool in because nothing is there to support it.
  4. New lithium's will allow you to run 12/24/36 out of a single battery, you just need the right capacity
  5. Most important to me these days is the locations of things I dont wanna hit in the rivers. The map is more important than the sonar. As mentioned above I use topographic maps to hunt deer and know where to fish. The sonar portion is the fine tuning. FFS for me is beyond where I wanna take it currently. I also dont need real time photos of deer in front of my trail cams.
  6. I absolutely hate creating shorts content. I do "ok" with it but theres no real rhyme or reason to what performs like full length video. You can sort of pick up on keywords in your title or hash tags but thats the best you can hope for at the moment. No good thumbnails, it pretty much ignores you in search. Its like rolling the dice on if it hits the shorts shelf or just falls flat on its face. Thats what makes it aggravating to go through the time to film/edit. One other part of shorts that makes me mad is unless they are "viral" theyre extremely short lived. You get maybe 6 hours for it to make it or break it, then its never seen again unless someone comes directly to your channel and choses to watch shorts. Id prefer youtube hang up the shorts side but Im afraid its here to stay.
  7. I havent owned a boat in 2 years, on my 4th and probably final iteration unless I hit the lottery. We have been riding SXS' so much that it didnt even cross my mind. You cant get that thing out of the garage without a key. A key is now living in the truck.
  8. Thats what shorts are made for, doesnt seem like fishing/hunting has caught on yet.
  9. 70 degrees yesterday, I took a half day off work. Buddy told me the river was really low so I hooked up my boat and went to a susquehanna impoundment, 30 min drive get there and the launch is closed. Closest one from there is an hour, Im already off so I go for it. Get there and it has white cap waves and 30mph wind coming straight down the lake. Not today in a 16' aluminum so I head home defeated. Drove 100 miles and never even backed in. Wake up in the middle of the night last night and it dawns on me.... the key was still hanging on the hanger by the front door. Even if I couldve fished I couldnt have fished more than the trolling motor. One of those days that was not meant to be I suppose.
  10. If the 200 is on the left in both images youre not seeing weaker returns. Youre seeing target separation and better bottom composition
  11. Heres how you win all the free gear from TW https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-SEASONSALE.html?from=basres
  12. Even Kayaks come with certificates of origin
  13. I have a ridiculous amount of gear. Narrowed myself down to only carrying 5 boxes going forward at one time. You gotta love a guy who spends thousands on lithium batteries to save weight but carries a full tacklewarehouse inventory in the boat.
  14. You could easily put 30lbs together in the right place on Erie or St Lawrence but 40 is out of this world
  15. Yeah it was semi sarcasm. I know people who quit hunting over it. I'm the person who pushed for quartering deer in Pennsylvania which was frowned upon and now is the preferred method to prevent spreading cwd. My house is in a disease management area as well. MN will lose their deer hunters interest to wolves long before CWD. There's diehard guys on archery forums talking about hanging it up for good.
  16. It can still be a grind. It takes 20 these days to win in a summer event
  17. Those fish kills were large mouth bass virus. They finally traced that the whole way back to Bald Eagle State Park aka Sayers Dam. It hit there first and just went in waves the whole way down the river. Fish kills in the Juniata were chemical spills. Guys are catching prespawn 25-30lb bags in Sayers.
  18. Dont eat the deer either, they have CWD "zombie deer"
  19. How bout when they found the male fish growing eggs. Traced that back to birth control in the water?
  20. It performs best in cold water
  21. Christmas 21 - we purchased a 2021 Can Am Maverick Sport Max 1000r with roof, heat, winch, full glass windshield, rear window, trunk enclosure and a sound bar... right at $30k ... to drive through the woods! 3.9% financing on a toy. $450 a month payment for 5 years (I pay double every month) Christmas 22 - wife got a lightly used 2020 Ford Explorer, its DECKED out. Lane assist, auto high beams, heated steering wheel .... $35k. 6.6% financing $600 a month for the same five years. We both have 800+ credit scores. The SUV is 1000x nicer than the buggy. The buggy in comparison is a noisy rattle trap, theres barely anything too it. Said to my son the other day, which would you rather have the Can Am or the Explorer. He agreed the Explorer was worth the money. The dealers couldnt keep anything in stock during covid related to outdoor activities. The one told me people with such bad credit they shouldve never thought about signing were taking 15% APR loans out on $45K buggies. Isnt my life, I learned my lesson the hard way living above my means. Now I can afford almost anything I want within reason but I dont buy it. I got buddies wanting me to put $10k in electronics on my $12k river boat... I dont think so.
  22. Im on my 3rd bass boat and not one has ever been under a roof. Maybe this one will get lucky some day. With that said, if you get a good 600 denier cover from anyone that will pretty much do it. Yeah it will fade and not be beautiful after a few years of harsh weather. The biggest key I have found with covers is to not touch them at all should they freeze. Make no attempt to do ANYTHING to it at that point. I bought a lot of them off ebay and now amazon. This one has the factory cover and man is it nice but on a canoe or kayak I cant see that making a hill of beans.
  23. Why anyone would even try in tournament fishing is beyond me. I remember watching once and I think they weighed 50 - 20lb bags in a single day of smallmouths. My wifes aunt has a house right on the river. Thats the clearest water Ive ever seen.
  24. $700 a month for 20 years if you put down $10k and get an unbelievable rate for todays rates I just paid cash for my "new boat". I tried owning a brand new skeeter that I paid on, didnt like that too much when it sat unused. This boat, if I dont go for 6 months I dont care.
  25. Thats why I love the rivers because these lakes are all just slop bowls. Drain em and freeze out the cover all the time, grind the rock and what structure is there into dust. First place I look on a lake in PA is riprap or road beds. Raystown I have a love hate with it. Its a neat fishery but the pleasure boat traffic drives me away. This state is a moving water mecca. I love the streams and rivers way more than the lakes. Ill agree, lakes are way harder to figure out, especially if theres nothing to target.
