  1. dont forget a lake fork magic shad also. alot of others already mentioned. you can put about anything back there you want. catch your primary forage fish, look at its size and colorations then match it.
  2. the new wiggle warts suck, end of story
  3. The 1.5 in my eyes is too small until the gills/shad spawn and theres little baits running. This time of year a 2.5 is about perfect. Look at the norman lures too
  4. On my light paddle tails(powerteam, sick fish, basstrix, yum money) I prefer to just get a hook in the bait and let a treble do the lifting. A split hollow belly maybe a big hook like that but one thing I find even with jigs is getting that big stout hook a fish can use it to his advantage to unbutton.
  5. Im guessing what you think you are getting at the gun, you likely are not getting that. I dont own an airbrush but when I spray paint the pressure coming out of the compressor is much higher than what I send into the gun. You tore this whole thing down I assume and cleaned it first right? Does it have any little filters in it? If it does take them out of the gun and strain the paint going into the cup rather than letting the filter in it. Put about 80psi out at your tank and with a second regulator before the brush im guessing its likely hvlp so start at rock bottom and go up a little at a time adjusting the gun on cardboard first. I didnt look but it sounds like this is a double action as in pull back/push to control paint and air. This gun likely also has different needle and tip configurations id assume?
  6. ill take all three that arent finished when they are, send me a bill.
  7. A fish might see you, it might not, it depends on angle and refraction. Its illegal to site fish the beds in PA.
  8. I think co-angling is great on one hand and terrible in another. Especially if you dont own a boat and have your own style. Its far to easy to get locked into tactics that others use and get this sense its the end all be all. How many times you gonna fish with guys who throw the shakey right of the bat before you start believing you miles well never even try a swimbait? This isnt as bad if you do fish alone but I have seen where that exact thing happens. Finesse baits to me are the saving grace for tough days, Im not starting my day with it every day. One other thing, dont cast in front of the guy running the trolling motor.
  9. what do you have between the compressor and the gun?
  10. WOW I just noticed that for the first time. Thats absolutely INSANE. I wish more shops offered more colors. I really need to get on buying an airbrush because frankly unless youre sending someone your baits and having them painted buying anything online with a custom job is a crap shoot. I bougt a dt6 the other day, custom on ebay. It shows up, its one of the best paintjobs I have ever seen on a bait. $12, figured I was likely getting a repainted rapala. Opened up and realized its a plastic bait with molded fins. Some of these bigger shops could make a mint if they put guys on staff that were good at painting. Buy a bait, send it right to be custom painted before you get it. If I were a master airbrush guy, id be knockn down some doors to try and set up that deal.
  11. Side note, when you install it, you must put it on flush with both shafts. After that the first couple of loads you will smell something goofy, thats completely normal. Just dont pound the fittings down past flush with the top. I stuck a screw driver in the center and hit the point with a hammer. Its a tight fit. If you went too far, you will burn up the new coupling.
  12. Was out with some friends last night when the wife panic'd blowing up my phone about the washer wouldnt turn on. When I got home, I found that she just didnt wanna spin. A little investigationa and I found what I thought was the culprit. A $4 coupling, barried in the machine, the whole thing would need to come apart and the quickest I could get it was 5 days. Locally I found a factory part for $15 today so I grabbed it on my lunch. It was a job that would take a pro ten minutes. It took me about 30-45 but Im certain I saved a pile of money. This couper is in so many machines that it fits almost all major brands. The coupler arms on the motor side, all three were sheared off. I put the new one in and were in business. If you ever have one quit spinning, anyone with basic mechanical knowledge and youtube can perform this fix.
  13. I dont have the opportunity to shoot 200" deer either, because I dont live where 200" deer grow. See, its not resentment, I dont hold anything against anyone who does it on their own terms. Shoot one at a feeder that goes off every day at precisely 5pm and I dont have to like it or appreciate it. Ive said before on here about having a buddy that grows captive whitetails. Its funny how people think you inject these deer with hormones and stuff to get certain features in a rack. Those deer are nothing but a product of breeding for the best genetics with sometimes line breeding and as much protein as you can throw their way.
  14. Maybe its high time an oranization is formed like P&Y or B&C is for animals where there are rules to who can be in the book. If it was similar, your name might be in for a P&Y level bass at 10lbs but it would tke 20lbs to make BC. P&Y could be like fly fishing and B&C like everything else. It still would require fair chase. As it sounds to me IGFA doesnt care if you catch one in a trash can if he opened his mouth before you set the hook.
  15. I cant remember if he had his own show or was just a segment but my fav was Doug Hannon. The bill dance song is glued in my mind as well.
  16. I dont think prawns and shad are enough. Think about those cali bass, what are the eating? Trout and Hitch.. those are big meals.
  17. Last year we left the dock with a known possible storm in the area later. What I didnt know was how intense it was. You dont realize how slow 25mph in a boat is until you try to outrun what looks like a tornado. I was a solid mile from the dock when the clouds started to roll in and I knew to leave. Half way back it looked as if the water was boiling, it felt like time stood still the wind had a lake not known for waves at 2' swells. The moment I tied up to the dock it started to dump like I have never seen. I flipped on the bilge pump and ran for the trailer. When I backed in I couldnt even see the ramp. Boat on the trailer, the bilge pump ran with the plug out it was raining so hard. They called the tournament and one guy didnt come back. No one could get him on the phone. Finally he answered, he never even stopped fishing... unreal.
  18. I think running and gunning gets guys moving too fast. You almost have to be what I would consider a local pro or higher level tournament angler to run and gun. Its possible to pull it off on a river, but on a lake if youre not methodical while running and gunning you miss too much. Grass is always greener type of scenario. You really have to have a pattern nailed to run and gun successfully, if you junk fish it, you might pick up a couple, you wont win.
  19. I feel like i should probably note: My boat was paid for in cash, I have a pretty decent paying job and none of this stuff has associated credit card debt, it was bought with surplus funds after all bills were paid. DONT go wild young bucks.
  20. 1 lews tournament mg 1 powell glass crankn rod 1 fenwick drop shot rod 1 daiwa spinning reel(a cheap one) 5 spools of braid 6 matt lures gills(at a killer price from our board tackle junky) 1 swaver 1 crappie swimbait 1 trout colored no name swimbait 1 hud 68 1 yamamoto shad shape worm 2 packs of rage tail craws 5 rattle traps 10 norman dd22, 5 of of them silent 5 kvd 2.5 5 x raps 1 plano fto spinnerbait box to store jigs 1 plano fto spinnerbait/buzzbait box 1 custom painted dt10 Im just gonna stop here, cause im not done yet, i still have a swimbait rod/reel to buy and some bigger swimbaits. I sold quite a bit of unused tackle, some I never even opened. I had to slow down on the soft plastics because i have a giant bin full of them.
  21. You ever wanna sell that ito give me yell
  22. If you want five rods dont let anyone convince you that you dont want five rods. I have 5 baitcasting combos on deck right now with a 6th on the way. I have three spinning rods on deck at all times too. EVERY one of those rods gets used. Its not a snoopy rod laying next to a gloomis. Theyre not $600 setups but they all serve a purpose. I know one thing, I dont hesitate for a second to reach down and grab a drop shot for one cast and I can fling a frog and a spinnerbait in the same stretch I will without digging into the boat. Time is money, I dont know about you but I dont get enough fishing time to warrant half it spent changing baits.
  23. powell diesel glass for cranks - $60 fenwick for drop shots/shakey - $80 okuma for swimbaits - $130 *** *** black , jigs - $100 st croix - mojo, spinnerbaits - $130 veritas , worm rod - $80 id put the same reels on everything but the crankn and spinnerbait rods(casting rods) id put pro qualifiers on everything but those two. The crank rod would get a 5.3:1 - lews and the swimbait rod a shimano cardiff. Those reels will set you back about $200, pro qualifiers on sale $70 each($210). reels = $410 for baitcasters rods = $580 for rods 1 pfluegar president spinning reel - $60 ----- $1050, $450 left to spend on essentials.
  24. ive heard if you call, they will honor 6 pay at any time
  25. braids best use is strength to diameter ratio. 10lb braid is way smaller than 10lb mono.
