  1. i looked at the nezumma yesterday, its at least $50-$70 more
  2. you missed the romans, pay better attention next time
  3. I spent $400 there in the last month LOL Holy smokes, I just looked at all my orders since the begin of the year. I soon should qualify for a free rod or something! 2/12/14 - $160 3/7/14 - $85 3/15/14 - $195 4/5/14 - $208 who needs a budget? that doesnt even include the $200 in swimbaits from guys on here
  4. Buy something, fish it for awhile and if it doesnt work sell it. Prepare yourself that youre going to lose money along the way here. Not everything will work out. Dont go out and buy ten of the same crankbaits till you know you can catch fish on them. Not all colors work in every lake or even in the same section of the lake. Dont be affraid to change colors but dont go crazy with it either. Fish can give off hints, like if they follow or look at your bait and wont commit theres some minor detail thats off. Maybe its color, maybe its action of the bait or action you imparted. Soft plastics can become a nightmare theres litterally 10,000 different baits out there in 100,000 colors. Pick a couple tried and true and if they catch fish, dont worry about the grass being greener. When it comes to hard baits and physical gear, you get what you pay for more often than not. There are exceptions to that rule, its up to you to research and find those exceptions on your budget.
  5. not good this year

  7. Juniata river, its where I cut my teeth bass fishing. I can remember rowing my grandfathers 10ft jon up and down that river, one time we sat in a pouring down rain and just smoked those smallies. I can remember throwing jitterbugs at night and litterally catching 100 fish between us all. Id trade every piece of equipment I own for one more day with that man in that rain storm.
  8. Dude I am up here in the NE, the last two weeks theres been two tournaments. The first one had 20 boats, they caught zero.... ZERO. The next one had 30 boats this past weekend who fished a lake known to be awesome and caught 1! Dont take it so personal quite yet.
  9. I have a black bag, next time I zero I am gonna fill it full of water. I prob wont be able to even carry it.
  10. I love my renzetti traveler with a base. I bought it in my beginning of tying flies, I can see having it for a lifetime.
  11. Lets be honest here folks. KVD is one of the if not the best angler on the planet. Yeah he has a quantum deal but lets say they ship him a case and a half of them and one breaks. What does he do? He probably has a 55 gallon drum full of broken quantums, not his problem. Id fish em too if I could use them like toilet paper without worry. Id fish any reel for that deal.
  12. its so small i basically consider it a crankbait. fish it like a crankbait
  13. Most of us arent throwing cranks on braid because of the fear of losing a bait. Were doing so so that we can run 20lb strength line with an 8lb diameter to gain depth. I might even go to 10 at some point.
  14. I dont own any and I dont plan too. The reports on them have been anything but stellar.
  15. My problem was, no cover in the deep and mud. Buddy I talked to who fished a different lake said his club had 30 boats out and they caught 1 fish.
  16. Ill be brutally honest, if you cant back up a trailer you should go take a course on it. If it takes you more than 3 mins from the time that boat hits the water, you start it, pull it over and get back in the truck you have issues and need to prepare better. I can do it in three mins without a partner easy, add someone to dump it and or get the truck, thirty seconds at best. IF youre off the trailer and the motor wont crank, get on the trolling motor and move over. Problem is, no one cares about anyone elses time. Once they hit the ramp common sense and courtosy go right out the window. I also think lakes should have a loading and unloading ramp. Rules enforced only when theres boats waiting to come out at the same time going in.
  17. Raystown, by far. Its well known if you wanna fish, you better be there at the break of day and ready to leave by noon mid summer. Its not impossible to find calm water though, its got a lot of fingers that are no wake.
  18. And the fishing was terrible. There must have been 100 people fishing from the bank today at Sayers Dam. I saw about a dozen bass boats. I didnt have a bite, and I didnt see anyone even catch a crappie. The lake came up almost over night, I was expecting winter levels and was suprised its almost full pool. It was MUD. I tried... a deep diving crankbait at creek intersecting the main channel. Everywhere I fished, I marked fish of some type. I fished the old 220 roadbed, through a shakey head on it to no avail, that and a silent red eye shad. Then I moved to the lower roadbed and was marking fish like crazy. I tried a senko, I tried going shallow, I tried it in 30ft of water. NADA. Water temps ran between 44 and 50 depending where I was but that couldve been false readings with the water conditions and the warm sun we had today. No surface activity, no bird activity. The more I fish this lake the less I like it. It used to be pretty darn good, but the bass got a virus and its never been the same. Some days I can catch a full sack, then I might go a week of catching one or two an outing. Was nice just to go, I mainly wanted to make sure the boat was not gonna give me any issues in travel. At least now everything is back in the boat also. Im running out of room to put rods. When I put in the new carpet this summer I am going to build a box specifically to hold these 3700 series so I can get my rod locker back.
  19. My guess is that it has a lot to do with quantum being sold by major retailers and the fact that the masses use them. This leads to more failures and more abuse. Ive never opened one up to see whats on the inside. Ive opened daiwas, shimanos, lews but no quantums. I had 4 $100 daiwas fail in one form or another in rapid succession. Now, I am very leary on buying another daiwa unless its reaching into the near $200+ range. Really when it all boils down, if you open one baitcaster you opened them all. The design doesnt differ that much. Materials yes but design not really. Id take a smoke if I got a good deal on it and give it a run. I dont know personally but I have heard that quantums cheaper reels have some of the worst bearings in the industry.
  20. the quesition is, did you win enough to replace the motor
  21. Yeah I certainly cant explain it myself
  22. These were fathead minnows, not shiners.
  23. Let me tell you the story of the minnow cooler... When I was a young man I liked to fish minnows for trout in winter. I would buy a dozen or two, not use them all and throw them in this cooler till the next time I went. Id change the water now and then but not really that often. One day I opened the lid and it was frozen solid, not a drop of water left, it looked like something out of a movie with minnows frozen in place. I closed the lid and figured id deal with the mess when it thawed. I walked out later in the spring expecting to deal with this disgusting cooler, I opened the lid and not a single one was dead. I dont know how or why or if someone played the best prank ever(I never found out if that happend) but those minnows survived somehow.
  24. 1: slow down 2: spend a little more time driving on the weekends. I live very close to a decent size lake, its easy to wake up and just go there but I live within an hour of probably several hundred places to bass fish. I want to go back to spending more time on the river. I wanna fish the pad choked lake just north of here more.
  25. I have yet to fish this year. A 301 series cardiff hit the doorstep today with no rod because I didnt order it yet. Is this box im intending on making my hanging swimbait box too large? My boat has sat now for six months, is it gonna start?
