  1. Does it take that dry feeling out of it? I used to play hockey too, loved it, hope my son plays. I was debating on which tape to use and might actually like it being sticky sticky. Heck I was turkey hunting yesterday and the dry striker of the slate call was getting on my nerves so I rubbed some pine pitch on it.
  2. If theres that many bass, its gonna need some harvesting to bump the numbers. Theres only so much to eat. Did you try any big big baits?
  3. did you confirm it was bass? sounds like they only had the end of it, not only bass like senkos. whats your hookset procedure?
  4. youre nuts, it will be fine. that area is late this year.
  5. Personally I think the 5wt is the most versitle fly rod on the planet for the average angler who doesnt intend to focus mainly on salt. It allows you to fish everything from bluegills to yes even steelhead. Orvis... im an orvis fan for life if you havent heard the stories ive told on here. I dont fly fish as much any more, im hoping someday my son might reignite that fire.
  6. I have an mg and love it, bought it for crankn. I would buy another tomorrow if something happened. That reel has only ever backlashed on me one time with very little braking and in a very strong wind. Other than that one incident it has been flawless. Im not a fan of any dual brake systems I have encountered to this point so for me its either pick mags, pins or external adjustable centrifugals. Id not be afraid to say that I bet a lot of people have never put a day on a lews and didnt like it.
  7. I hate the feeling of dried cork or eva foam. Its like it sucks the moisture out of my hands, add handling fish in the mix and the end of the day it feels like a need a quart of 5w40 to get my hands back to normal. 1: cork sealer, if it will seal it on its on great if not it might protect it from the next step 2; hockey tape Thoughts on that system? I also have a rod the knurling on the reel seat eats up the inside of my pointer finger. I love that rod but Im strongly considering adding a piece of self vulcanizing tape to that area.
  8. I have two and neither whine. Could be that spool wobbling, it near falling off isnt good.
  9. We catch em on jerkbaits fishing for bass. The most important part is a lake with a healthy population of muskies. You fish a lake where one or two come out of it a year, dont expect much.
  10. When all else fails, fish a senko or a drop shot and if you cant get something to bite that go home.
  11. Fish the break lines where fast water enters slow water. Those break lines fish use to their advantage to funnel food to them, its called a feeding lie. Break lines can be in fast water too, think of where a rock comes above the water and you can see the eddy behind the rock. The fast water, running beside that eddy is the break line.
  12. The more places you can pay out the better. Knock the top prize back to $1500 and go down from there with placing further out. Even if you only pay five more places with that $500 it will attract more people. In a 50 boat field, making top 15 should at least mean going home breaking even on entry fees. You still lost money on gas, baits.... This is going to attract some people who are not as confident. The less places you pay out, guys start thinking how good they really are, especially at $100.
  13. Did that fish look bigger than that sack of potatos? Almost double?
  14. I just dont see 9lbs, if thats a 9lb fish I have boated 10s that I have never weighed and I know thats not true. Id like to believe it but my gut tells me no. If so, thats a 4lb fish packed with 5lbs of roe.
  15. Youre in post spawn already? Heck the fish are just now getn to the beds here.
  16. Throw one on the structure, then one as soon as you start catching fish to get the proper angle of cast relative to that structure.
  17. Whats your excuse gonna be for why youre an electrician with a degree like that?
  18. Im sure you know my feelings on fluro. I fished copoly and braid all weekend in crystal clear water in cold front conditions and caught a ton of fish. Its all hogwash in my mind.
  19. You a local? I see youve got Raystown listed as your fav lake and I live less than five miles from sayers. You dont look familiar to me though.
  20. nice fish, living where you do, it would be tough to not have on a swimbait 24/7
  21. you can find some closeouts on ebay
  22. i have a kodak playsport but it doesnt have a hat feature.
  23. I think thats why I can feel it so well and it definitely DOES matter what rod is in your hand. I have a fly rod that almost gives me a sixth sense, I can lay it to them before an indicator would ever move. I still miss fish. A cheap rod you really cant feel it, ive proven it to myself multiple times over the years and im sure some will not agree however Ive seen catch rates increase tremendously from one rod to the next.
  24. Man I really feel for him, to lose by 4oz, that would make me ill. I really like swindle, he always makes me laugh when I watch his stuff.
  25. Little baits and slow is definitely the name of the game after this weather we have had.
