  1. You can heat it with map gas, it didnt work on my last boat, i tried it on a rivet, I ended up smashing it shut.
  2. 2011 Jeep Compass(manual trans) pulling a 17' tracker
  3. I even replace some with rabit strips. I use wire from swimbaits to pull it through.
  4. Permethrin Mix I Use... Permethrin 10 - Found in the chemical section of the horse area at tractor supply or online Mix 1oz of the above with 20oz of water in a spray bottle and shake Spray clothes till wet, hang to dry before wearing. 6 washes or 6 weeks whichever comes first. I hunt some tick INFESTED areas and since I started making this mix 6 years ago I havent brought a tick out of the woods. My buddy every year will tell me through text in archery or turkey season "Man the ticks are bad" and I never find any. Ive given him the mix recipe but he never follows through, every year he has a dr dig a tick out of him.
  5. Ive read that seafoam is more expensive than ringfree when you look at it on a treated gallons basis. I use stabil marine in mine and ringfree or seafoam to decarb maybe once a year, god bless fuel injected motors as they seem to eat anything.
  6. My yard at my rental is enormous but the landlord wont let the boat stay. I keep mine at moms house. Been looking for a house to buy for two years now, nothing in my price meets the criteria.
  7. drain the tank, mix the newgas 50:1 for ten gallons till you varify the injection is working, it will smoke no biggy. put it on muffs squeeze the bulb till hard. turn the key on press in the choke and crank it till it tries to catch. immediately stop crankn and put the choke off, raise the hot start and crank again. fast start on your control is likely to push the center of the lever in and hold while moving the throttle forward. once it cranks over pull the throttle back to keep it faster than normal for twenty seconds but not screaming its guts out, then return throttle to neutral. dont take it over 3000rpm for more than a second on muffs.
  8. I dont think youre supposed to choke buck shot, I could be wrong but I know for example with waterfowl loads if you put that through a full choke you are askn for trouble.
  9. I guess you can color me different on this one, a water pump rebuild kit is cheap insurance
  10. I think people have an insane set of expectations. Only certain fisheries at certain times can produce 50lb+ bags for 4 days, the rest of that time its guys maybe bringing in a 20 one day and a possible zero the next. We see guys on tv fish these super lakes that have massive bass populations and then we fish a local lake and think something is wrong with us. Maybe your lake doesnt have schools of bass with 40 fish in it.
  11. The club I just left was exactly like this. I liked the guys but when it came to fishing we were in different areas. You could usually count on who would hold the top three spots, guys without kids who fished the lake non stop or who had done it for 20+. Guys with the fastest of the fastest boats ignoring speed limits and drawing last place but still getting the hole they wanted. Then they would just stay there all day knowing that eventually those fish would turn on and eat. Every time we were due to fish a new lake it was a new excuse. It was too muddy, the moon wasnt right. What it was I think was not knowing where to go and being so dialed in you might come to the scale with nothing. In the end I decided that due to the fact they were not willing to share their knowledge that something had to be up. I knew what holes they were sitting on all day/night. When you change locations you even the field, home lakes will never ever be the best of the best. The guy who can fish every day WILL find a pattern of some sorts. Theres a reason a lake becomes off limits for tournament anglers and has a number of days of practice. I bet I could take the worst guy on the lake and give him two weeks with any bait he wanted to throw, pull in one of the better pros(maybe not the best) without any practice and the rookie would win. Especially if he could grind it out and fish all day every day, theres no doubt that he would make something happen.
  12. Just repowered the boat, only picked up about 10mph but with the trim/tilt its so much of a nicer ride. The motor isnt new but just rebuilt and the rebuild has a 30 day warranty so I have it broken in and im putting as much time on it as possible with working before 30 is up. Yesterday I was up with the birds in the heavy fog at sayers dam here in central pa. I absolutely hate this lake but its sooooo convenient. Attempted to launch my boat with the straps still on the trailer. Boat traffic, heck for that matter bass traffic is insane. I managed three saturday morning on a senko and a drop shot. I think that was pretty good, out of the hundred or so boats it seemed were out I didnt see anyone hook up. Who knows though, my motto is theres always someone who found them and found what they really wanted. A buddy fished Bush and said he and his dad wouldve had about a 18lb combined bag, we both never caught a fish till 10:30 Today I was supposed to fish a tournament at Raystown with a daylight launch. It required me to leave at 3am. Relying on cell technology instead of a normal clock I set my alarm, what I failed to notice was the day was set to only saturday and I never woke up till it got daylight in the bedroom at about 5:30, pretty heated but since I had a cooler packed I headed back to sayers this morning. Same story again, tough fishing but way less boats due to what I am certain is multiple tournaments with different organizers on other lakes. I could not buy a bite till 10am and then I caught a smallmouth on a senko. After that I kept noticing what looked like baby shad or baby crappies darting all over and eating bugs on top. I switched to a gold flake colored silver tube and caught a LM and then that was it. I tried top, bottom and in between on the lake. Talked to a guy at the launch and he said he had two also for the day. Last couple times I have been down there its been insane the amount of bass boats fishing. You can stop, look around and 90% of the boats are people bass fishing.
  13. I have a timer in my boat that can be set up to five mins. At 5 mins, the pump kicks on for 30 seconds, I use U2 in my livewell and frozen gatorade bottles.
  14. Swindle noted in a seminar that KVD wins 6% of the time, this is the most losing sport you will ever participate in! To break that down, that would mean IF you were as good as KVD you would win 6 out of every 100 you fish.
  15. Do you guys really like to turn your motors at 6000rpm or more at wot? Thats crazy
  16. I just repowered my boat too, my motor is a rebuilt 40, it came with a 12 pitch prop. I was at 6k in rpms with more to go, so I plugged it into mercs prop selector all the info I had and it recommended a 14 pitch which will be here soon. Smaller pitch usually = better hole shot Larger pitch usually = top speed But you need to adjust for what the motor is telling you to do. If youre hitting 4000 rpm at WOT you have too big of a prop or too big of a pitch, 6500 at WOT and your WAY to small.
  17. Post front in my mind is the worst time to fish. Almost need to treat it like cold water. It seems to shut movement of everything down even animals. I keep a journal of both whitetail movement and bass fishing, theres a direct correlation between pre front and feeding, no doubt about it. Go drive around some evening that its gonna rain and look for deer, theyre out earlier. Bass are very much the same. Ill take stable or pre front every time over post front.
  18. I think part of life is having some regrets, its usually a hard lesson but changes who you are. A couple quick ones I remember from my youth... 1: Almost a week strait I was hunting this hollow between farms chasing this black squirrel and he elduded me every day. On about the third day I started seeing this gray fox come up the hollow in the morning and into his den. I formulated a plan that the fox was to be mine and I would hang him on my wall. He was so neat seeing him come up the hollow every morning. One morning as he came up I was waiting, I knew his route and I rolled him with a 3" mag. THE VERY MOMENT I pulled that trigger I felt like a fool. Here I killed this beautiful fox that gave me entertainment every morning. I never again shot another fox but I still hunt. 2: The first fall PA introduced the inline muzzleloader into the fall season was the year I had shoulder surgery, I couldnt draw a bow and being that it was fall here was my chance. I got everything ready, up in a stand opening day and here comes this doe. I slammed her with a 50cal. I get down and walk over to the deer and here comes two fawns lookn for mom. I had to chase them off so I wouldnt have to field dress her in front of them, I had a problem with that. I never forget about those fawns. I dont shoot doe's with fawns anymore, Ill shoot a mature one if theyre traveling as a big group and another doe can take over but a single doe with fawns, never again. Lessons come the hard way a lot of times, heck maybe half of them didnt like the situation but went along to save face with the friends.
  19. Good thing you chose a round tank. The herring species will find a corner and smash their own face in.
  20. When you wake up, get 3 ibuprofen in you, a big glass of water and then keep adding them on as time permits.
  21. Was talkn with a buddy the other day about motor break in proceedures and how most call for 10hrs +. 10 hrs is a lot of running an outboard for a bass fisherman, if you run it an hour a day id be surprised.
  22. No tin in that lineup? Me personally, I love a lot of things about glass but I just couldnt live with myself if something major went wrong and I had a 15k piece of garbage. My next boat will be an xpress. You can get it with as big of a motor as youre willing to buy.
  23. Im not sure id go for that wedge, that seems like its still keeping weight bouncing on the transom and or wearing your trim/tilt New hubs/wheels Bigger Motor LED under the console Livewell timer
