  1. I'd be willing to bet it wasnt like mine lol .. new every thing .. Id have to have 6-7 k to sell this one ;D
  2. Trailer still has work to be done and new wheels, the old wheels are chrome but rusting.. Im trying to find some mag wheels I like If I could / can make it work I want to take of the 14" wheels and put on at least 16" wheels, but I prob will have to remove the fenders and do a lil chop and weld to make that work
  3. The first one and the second one , both done by a local shop Apollo Laser Engraving www.lasertribute.com the first one with the G Loomis Fish I picked the graphics in a hurry .. but decided I wanted to use my own art work instead so I whipped up the Bass in about 3 mins he converted it to a format he could run threw the laser engraver .. and I gave him the font to use .. Vic is his name and he is a great guy .. He can do yours if you want .. just make sure you tell him that I referred you Sean from North River My cost was well lets just say .. you would be paying around 50 for that panel
  4. Hey all much progress since last post .. just a few more lil things.. wiring wise and will be ready to take to lake and do a test run here is pics
  5. Nothing .. paid 200 for boat and 400 for motor .. I now have aprox 2300 in the boat ,, after restoring and prob will put another 1000 -2000 in it in other upgrades over the next year in electronics and or trolling motor .. see this link for the boat project http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1251415883
  6. 8" not real big LOL ..trust me that is big ..No Kits are going to help you .. you need much more than a kit.. White is not just white .. white has a thousands of shades.. your white could have yellows, reds, more grey than white .. you can buy white gelcoat buy its self cheaper than in a kit .. but your 8inch place when fixed properly will be an area about 16" by the time you sand 4inches around the area.. Your way over your head here dude .. you can do it but you need to research this carefully b4 you try this on your own. And if someone hit you make them pay to have it fixed .. you could easily have a 800 - 1200 dollar repair job there Take the boat to a fiberglass repair shop and get some estimates. and make the other guy fix
  7. 20 oz carpet is much longer lasting because it has more fibers, if your lids are too tight, take a set of dog clippers and shave the carpet around the edge of the lids ever so slightly until they open easier. I have done carpet in over 200 boats .. shaving is the way to go on really tight lids , just go slowly, and do just a hair at a time ;D
  8. Booth Attwood and Perko make low end lights .. and high end .. and both make LED versions that last years and , are much brighter than standard bulbs , yes they cost more but you will prob never need to replace the light for bad bulbs. LED versions run between 40 and 60
  9. Resin by its self is just slightly better than paint, resin without glass will still crack and let moisture it over time.. and will not last much longer than paint. The polyester resin has no strength and still absorbs water. Even with cloth it still absorbs some water... very little, but still does.. the mat or cloth keeps the resin together and walking on it will wear it thin even with carpet, and the wood will swell and shrink just as a wood door does .. epoxy is the ONLY thing that will keep the water out, but it still needs woven cloth to hold things together. Taking the cheap way out will only cause you to do it again in less than a year.. and dont just lay new wood over the old floor.. and screw it down.. your only making it harder and wasting money and time.. do it right the first time and forget it!
  10. I designed the decal, a local shop just a few miles away did the printing and cut out on it.. Paul's Sign Shop the do wraps signs etc .. great work and cost was 27 bucks. The Hydra sport logo on the side of the boat in the pic with my wife and son, was done by another local shop Billy T's sign shop they had a metallic flake silver that Paul's didn't have so let them do it .. Pauls did my trailer logo with flames.. when I get around to painting the trailer
  11. Ive seen some boats sprayed with truck bed liner .. you can get it in multiple colors , and is tuff .. there are a couple guys who striper and cat fish around here that swear by it ! You get shad and fish slime on it just take a hose to it all gone.. to each his own .. I would like to have my boat trailer sprayed with it .. but not the whole boat .. but if you like it go fo it .. just remember that stuff is a mother to get it off once its sprayed ... so be sure you really want it!
  12. zinc chromate, was used on it first , then nason epoxy primer over everything. I sanded the whole motor. urathane base clear to paint it all. Here is pics of what the motor orig looked like, I found a mid section from a v4 that was near perfect, the orig motor didnt have trim tilt, the new mid did, but was removed, I found a trim motor on ebay for 100 bucks, painted and mounted it in the new mid, removed the old motor and foot, re installed on new mid after replacing the water pump. Then painted. My son and wife gets first ride lol ..
  13. Hey Guys Ive been Restoring this 87 Hydra Sport since last Sept, paid 200 for boat and trailer , 500 on a 89 Erude 90hp that had just been rebuilt , but had been in the salt .. pretty bad shape on the steel parts Ive rebuilt the boat from ground up, Stopped work on it in March too busy to get to it .. Since Aug 1 been working on it about every day .. I have maybe 2 weeks till its back on the water. Below are picks from day 1 to present .. still need to finish wiring , carpet, and remount motor and cables
  14. I'll second the TCP Global products.. I own 6 of their guns air brush and HVLP, I also like Harbor freights air brushes .. most of all if your starting out making baits or repaints.. you can move up to the higher end brushes once you've mastered the techniques
  15. Great looking baits .. those are two thumbs up!!
  16. cool .. I like your sisters bday gift best .. ;D
  17. Paint just wont cut it .. it needs to be at the very least coated with polyester resin and a layer of 1.5oz mat on both sides, and resin on the edges as well.. Better yet and longest lasting is Epoxy Resin, such as west system, and layer of woven cloth over that and another caot of epoxy .. epoxy is the only way to water proof, paint will not do it on bare wood!!
  18. Ive been restoring a 87 Hydra SPort for about a year, I could never find the exact lights I wanted ( LED ) so I made my own, they are really very simple to make, the blue water ones are pretty good , I just wanted something different
  19. Ive done a few suspending jerk baits in that pattern never had much luck with it .. always have done better in this area gold back or chart back shad look
  20. looks pretty good
  21. ARe you completely dissembling them or masking off ?
  22. I have a customer that has a Shadow Bass Boat .. they are no longer made and haven't been in some time .. Im looking for some info on transom replacement in this boat .. If you have had one, or have one let me know. I have yet to see boat .. Ive heard they are glassed together not screwed or riveted top cap to bottom hull ? Anyone have any experience with these boats ?
  23. As some have made similar posts already just adding my 2 cents .. Ive been an occasional visitor here in the past , I am a regular on several other boards.. but .. Take it from someone that has always bought old boats .. and learn from my mistakes and experience.. I bought a boat not me first , but was first used glass boat back about 8 yrs ago .. boat had issues , but motor was good, and it was dirt cheap.. later found out that all the wood in boat was rotted except one small area in the front .. and the decks where good, but beyond that was rot. I had know idea the cost of replacing the transom .. I got a few prices.. transom alone was 800 -1200 on a 15ft 1977 Bass Boat! That didnt include the floor, and stringers.. I was like no way . Surely I can do my self.. after much searching net .. and a few months went by .. I gathered all the info I needed to dive into the project.. and replaced all the wood and glass .. that first boat took 4 - 5 months Ive done 6 more since then .. working on the most current one now a 1987 Hydra-Sport 17 ft . But I knew it had issues with rot.. but some rot say transom, means lots more rot... If you buy used check engine very closely.. best take it to a shop and have the engine closely inspected tell them your looking at buying ... do compression and leak down test, check condition of lower unit oil, signs of water, grit or metal in oil, etc If you buy a 2000 and before unless you get very lucky expect some rot, 99.9 percent of boat before 2000 where made with wood, and also easier to fix when issues arise .. new boats if stringer breaks, or de-laminates.. the way the new boats are made you are pretty much screwed.. unless your the first owner , 2nd owner lifetime warranty is not life time for most makers.. its about 3-7 yrs. Main thing is to educate your self on all the ins and outs of new and used .. and know if you buy used expect the worst pray for the best ;D
