  1. i fish a muddy lake...few days ago i went there and got them on a dark lizard with a bullet weight.......typically anything dark colored and/or makes noise will do the trick atleast from my experiences chartreuse spinnerbait is probably a good idea for clearer...plus the water is just warming up so i don't know if the bass are actually going to chase a spinnerbait your ripping through the water.. you got to give them some time to become active again...the past week i've been strictly fishing plastics...lizards, flukes, tubes...all dark colors and i've been killing them..haven't tried hard plastics that make noise because i've been doing so well...either way, give both a try and see what works best
  2. yep...its what separates the contenders from the pretenders
  3. i'm not really following this...do we just upload a picture and what state we're from and thats it?? count me in for new jersey
  4. didn't start freshwater fishing until a couple years ago but i started saltwater when i was very young...by the age of 3 i was out on my boat in the ocean..of course some of the fish were a little too big for me to reel in, but i got my fair share...i find that the exposure to it was more important than the actual fishing...so dont hesitate to bring your kid(s) out on the boat even if the fishing they'll do is limited
  5. saltwater and fresh...i've always held them by the tail with a loose grip...i push them forward and back gently...you'll feel him try and swim away..when you feel the force of the tail let go and he'll take off this always works..never had a fish die on me before
  6. i got some monster carp in my local lake 40+ pounds that nobody really knows about or tries to catch....what are some of the more popular baits to get them on? i think i've heard corn, bread crumbs, and now dog food. what tackle would you recommend for a beginner carp fisherman?
  7. hey man whatever works is good in my book btw nice fish...im from northern nj too...what county you from?
  8. d**n sounds like a hell of a day to me. nothing beats a great day of fishing on a great looking river
  9. yea man likewise, im from morris though..ive been to spruce run and monksville a couple times. haven't had much luck at either lake. then ill go to a couple smaller local lakes which are each under 5 minutes away from my house and ill catch more fish suddenly. im not a fishing pro so i can't say for sure, but it might be because these local hot spots are under fished has anybody caught fish at spruce run or monksville? i hear monksville produces some pretty fine musky havent caught one though
  10. haha dont blame you man...how'd you do at spruce run..i went there over the summer..didn't catch any bass, but got 1 really nice hybrid on a live minnow
  11. here in jersey the state record is 10 pounds..maybe a few ounces over. that said i doubt there's any bass that'll crack double digits in weight.
