  1. Thanks Splat. I will give them a try.
  2. Just pulled my boat out of storage and noticed my graph's skimmer transducer was covered with hard water scum. Any suggestions on how to remove without damaging transducer?
  3. I have been doing a lot of research on these SI units and got on their yahoo chat room- everyone has high praise for these units. Both with transom & trolling motor transducer mounts. HB does have a High Speed Kit with thru hull puck transducer for on-plane readings. get to their website! I will have the 997c SI @ console, 797c Si up front, InterLinked by end of April.
  4. I have a 2000 TR20 and the livewells will dump water in rough water or trailering home with a mess of fish. I always thought it was a built-in overflow. Triton's customer service and tech support is top notch- send them an email so we all will know once and for all.
  5. Thanks all for the advice. Did you have to use any angle pieces or just one long piece? I knew someone would have come up with something.
  6. Let us know how your trip goes on Guntersville. We'll be heading there 4/5-4/12 and can't wait to get to some warmer weather. Fish on!
  7. Has anyone come up with a way to prevent rain from collecting on single console bass boat cover?
  8. I saw this today in my Cabela's catalog. Nice setup!
  9. Acar- Is your transom transducer mounted on fiberglass? How did you attach it? I have a fiberglass TR20 Triton with jack plate. I was thinking of mounting it on the jack plate? too high?
  10. OK Bud- what's the skinny with the HB SI? I am wanting to upgrade from Lowrance X-65 (blk/white) to color graphs with GPS. If I'm going to do it, thought I might as well that have one that can look out the sides as well? How does it work in stained water? Only clear water in Ohio is Lake Erie and I'm 3.5 hours away!
  11. Thanks for the site, Wayne. I'll check it out. Sounds like you have HB SI? I will check HB SI group about using 2 transducers.
  12. Does the transom mount transducer for 797c2 have a breakaway hinged bracket in case you hit a stump, floaty, or rockpile?
  13. Hey Sling- what size blades on spinnerbaits? Gold tandem willow; gold silver colorado infront of gold willow?
  14. Sorry 'bout your luck Kev. We'll keep you posted on out trip. 3 weeks and counting...! ESR1- let us know how your trip goes. We have some guys from Ohio down that week out of So. Sauty Crk.
  15. I am going to try 10 & 12 lb. Stren Microfuse for throwing on spinning gear for smaller shakey head jigs. Also will try this on baitcaster for flippin. Have heard this casts great on spinning, lower vis in water, and does not get dirty like Fireline. After reading comments posted, I will have to try the Spectra Power Pro. What lb. size are you all using for flippin/pitchin? Other uses for braid.
  16. BillyBob- i would like to see your setup. drop me an email and let's hokup after this 10-12" snow! I wanted to ask you about transducer mounting- if I mount console gps graph with thru hull transducer, how can I capture water temp? I will change my profile to show email icon (if i can figure it out). Skippinfool
  17. You can also buy Lowrance units with 30 gig hard drives that have maps loaded- again another $150. I have been looking to upgrade as well but would want a separate transducer on my trolling motor. by connecting both units, it will share same waypoints. Let's stay in touch on this?
  18. Great info Sling. Our guide has receommeded 35-50lb. braid for frogs, top water, & flippin; 15 lb. florocarbon for texas rigs, rattle baits, everything else. Would you recommend braids for rippin thru the grass? seems like it would rip thru better. 3/8, 1/2 or 3/4 oz. spinnerbaits? When you are saying to find structure with the grass, are u talking about drop-offs, ledges, rock piles. etc.
  19. Thanks Sling. 1/2 oz. jigs should punch thru the weeds OK? Keep me posted for our April 5 trip.
  20. Thanks acar555. I have an older Lowrance unit without GPS and am looking to upgrade both my console and front deck units. I am looking at the Lowrance LCX-27C. Not sure which way to go? We fish a lot of docks & riprap at my home lake (10' avg. depth). I would think having the side view option at the console and deck would be an advantage? What has your experience been?
  21. did you ever get any responses?
  22. Anyone been on Lake G. recently? Curious to see what the weed growth might be this early April? What type & color of frog/rat baits work well in the spring?
  23. Thx BillyBob. After resarching I may consider Hummingbird's sidefinders and have the best of both worlds. Not sure if smaller Hummingbird will fit Lowrance X-65 recess up front? I really want to keep recess unit up front & larger console graph mounted to right of windshield.
  24. OK, I'll ask the dumb question- Does the sidefinder transducer mount on the back of the transom or can you install a thru hull puck? The side view image does peak my image! Pricey units but you do see in 3 different directions.
  25. Thanks Crow. I will check out the EWG Gama's. That is what I am looking for with the thicker Bass Magics. Cross their eyes! SF PS- any experience with Hummingbird's sidefinder or Lowrance LCX-27C? in the market to upgrade.
