Where you say "Backlash control is imbalance wobble in the spool, and your grandfather may have glued a nickel inside his old Marhoff spool to get the same effect", I'm having trouble picturing this and how it worked, but am intrigued. Do you by chance have any examples? And thanks for the info about the oil.
