I think you'd do fine with a 5 year old boat from a reputable dealer with a warranty. That would save you a ton of cash and get you in a boat that was less hassle. My last boat was a 20 yeas old hull and a rebuilt 15 year old motor: Bullet 21XDC with a Merc Racing 2.5 ProMax Short Shaft. That boat ran me $8500. I paid cash for it. It was an 85 mph, 22', dual console, glitter rocket.

Again, I'd look for a slightly used boat. $26 - 30k is a ton of money for not much boat. If you check out my thread below, you can see what I'm looking at. These boats do not appear to be even close to 1/5 of what I'm getting. BTW, a similar boat to that Alumacraft - actually a 17' tiller - was $6k 20 years ago. Boat prices are absurd.

It's just my opinion. I would not settle for it. It's not for me. What you decide to do with your money is your business.

I'd look for a used Lund. It's moot though, since my next boat will be a much larger bay boat. Have it inspected by an independent mechanic. You can also get a warranty from a dealer.

Maybe for some cheapo plastic Snoopy reels. The Daiwa GC20 I have works and feels like hi quality machine. I have a Zebco 33 Classic that is well past 30 years old and works perfectly. Neither display any of the issues bought up here about spincast.

No, you want a dedicated pair of linesman pliers. They go right through even heavy worm hooks.

I don't have any recollection of that line, but it sounds pretty cool. I'd guess it was around 1984-5 I got into casting gear. I'd started on spincast, then spinning, and then learned baitcast reels. I'm not surprised I didn't know about it. The shop I dealt with was primarily a Daiwa dealer.
