  1. I don't know if it's the cheapest fluoro out there, but it's the lowest price fluoro I would use. 20# is $80. Anything else is usually leader material, not reel fill. It would be less expensive to fill with braid and use a fluoro leader.
  2. Get your facts straight. Dottie died MORE THAN TWO YEARS after Mac caught her. Clearly his handling had nothing to do with her death. I'm not sure what point you're making bringing the ML story into this. It's totally irrelevant. In my opinion, he deserves no press.
  3. You didn't specify size. 15# Seaguar Red Label is $70 for 1000 yds.
  4. I wonder why any of us care so much about what gear someone else is using to enjoy the same hobby?
  5. I think communicating your intentions is the best route. It was nice of you to pass some of your knowledge on.
  6. I don't know if I'd say it's better, but it's easier.
  7. They get big enough to where you can almost lip them.
  8. Some days I use both or one or the other. Doesn't matter to me, so long as I'm catching.
  9. I wouldn't go out in anything less than 12'.
  10. That's called synergy, Ken.
  11. San Pelligrino Hormel Vienna Sausage Immodium AD
  12. Way bigger than John's.
  13. I've broken a couple of micro guides. I can't remember who made them, but many rod builders on here were a bit indignant about it being possible. Glad the OP's are fine.
  14. Great video! I don't entirely agree that spring is the only key time. In my experience, Great Lakes smallmouth are fat as heck almost year round, save winter when I've never fished for them or directly spawn/post-spawn (see pics below). My PB came on a warm November day, in a deep wintering hole on Erie. I do have some outstanding catches from pre-spawn and spawn periods, as well as dead of summer. June, directly post-spawn Novemeber: Early May, minutes from spawn. Males were already making nests: August (a few decades ago, lol): Late May, full on spawn:

  16. I can assure you that casting into the wind is almost always the better presentation, if you can hold your boat position. It isn't easier, but easier isn't usually better. The same goes for current. Upstream is almost always better.
  17. Nice job! I tore it up a week later on the south shore of Ontario.
  18. That's my question too. None of my bass boats made much of a wake at when on plane.
  19. Anchoring from the stern faces you downstream or downwind, and neither are ideal ways to present a bait.
  20. I've had my stuff a lot longer, lol. AFW has a reasonable starter crimp kit at $20. Or you can go all the way up to a HiSeas for $130.
  21. I like the flavored seltzer waters. Pack them, along with some ice packs in my Hobie cooler. I've tested completely full of ice sitting in the hot sun on my porch, and there were still ice cubes after two days. Sushi anyone?
