  1. I don't think so. Waders are all folded up tightly in a box on store shelves and probably sit for who knows how long. These were supposedly brand new. If they were $200, it would be worth it to me to figure out the leak point and patch it.
  2. I don't typically drop shot with anything less than 1/2 oz. More likely 3/4 oz. Since I'm almost vertical, it's okay to overload the weight. I want the bait to be where I put it. But, it handled a 5" Senko just fine, and that's about 3/8 oz.
  3. They aren't native to the lake in Canada, and they are a man made variant. Don't get me wrong, the rainbow record counts in my book. I'm just proving my point about record fish all having some special set of circumstances that may have had an affect on their size. A triploid trout is sterile and has no drive to make a costly run upstream or devote any calories toward egg production. Just eat, eat, swim, eat, eat.
  4. The record rainbow is a genetically modified triploid trout plant.
  5. I'm curious what they're using it for?
  6. off the top of my head, brown trout, rainbow trout, largemouth bass, and probably a few types of sunfish also not sure, but the record Nile Perch might be an invasive as well
  7. No, it's definitely about fishing for me. That's why they're called fishing records or record catches. Not a world record from some DNR person doing an electrofishing survey. Most lakes around here have zero management for bass, and the bass do just fine.
  8. In my experience, even just 15# Invisx is difficult to break off. Sounds like you have a fluoro issue not specific to any brand.
  9. Vanish - what happens to your catch when you use it!
  10. Patch them.
  11. Pretty sure that's just a medium duty Attwood trolling motor plug.
  12. I've been to the bottom of the ice berg. Call me crazy, but I went back spinners.
  13. As long as they're somewhat shallow-ish. Sometimes it's August, and I'm looking for bait carpeting the bottom foot or so in 35-40'. In that case, a Hopkins jigging spoon or drop shot is what I go to. I think this may be a difference between Erie and Ontario. I do have EXCELLENT results jerkbaiting in early spring on certain Finger Lakes.
  14. This is pre-goby era on Lake Ontario. You could literally go out in 15-20 FOW, drop a tube over the side and get bit. If they were smaller, move to find the bigger fish. Now they scattered over much greater depths, picking off gobies at will. I don't bother with those fish, I hunt for schools of alewife. Find those, and find the big smallies.
  15. Behind every record fish, there's some interesting circumstances. For instance, the world record rainbow trout (44 lbs.) was a genetically modified triploid fish that was sterile and therefore spent it's entire life eating and growing, never making a spawning run. An angler legally caught it fishing, and it's the largest specimen of that species ever. By your definition, it doesn't count? Records are set by the angler. As long as it is caught on public water, I say it counts. Interesting and related tidbit: the NY state record largemouth was NOT caught on public waters. Hmmmmm.
  16. Five minutes is a long time when you're drifting around in a kayak. But yes, I do like tieable wire better. It's something I rig up before I'm on the water.
  17. I store them in vertical rod holders with no leash. Leashes tangle too easily. There are adjustable rod holders that have a retainer strap that are primarily used for trolling.
  18. So there's three fish here: Perry's, Dottie, and the Lake Biwa fish. I have my doubts about the legitimacy of the Perry fish. Dottie was clearly the largest documented largemouth bass on the planet. The most legitimate current IGFA record to me is the Lake Biwa fish.
  19. Electrolytes, anyone?
  20. Let's not over complicate this. A bait bucket is like $7.
  21. She was caught in March of 2006. She was found dead on Mother's Day 2008. https://www.espn.com/outdoors/fishing/news/story?page=world_record_bass_dies I'm literally lol at this.
  22. You could try the Flea Market: https://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/forum/18-fishing-flea-market/
