This is very true up here. Got a bunch of pros dealing with it on Cayuga this week. I was perplexed the first time I came across it. It doesn't sound like the OP has this issue, but a good tip. Took me a minute to figure out what was going on - during a TX on Cayuga no less lol.

If you spool your reel up with duct tape, you definitely need to hit it with WD-40.

My NYS PB LMB (7-2) was taken on a 10" black Powerworm.

I'd just go with a longer Roboworm.

That's a sweet tip. Never thought of it.

I can't say that BioSpawn isn't a good bait, but it lacks the subtle wiggle of the tail on the Roboworm when it's just sitting in place.

KVD L&L is all you'd ever need. Apply and let dry. Apply after ever trip. It's a can't live without deal for me.

You might be able to find a used Okuma Guide Select in that price range. That's gonna be your best bet, new or used. New is a little out of range.

PurpleAir has some fairly inflated numbers compared to AirNow, which is the EPA's gold standard. That said, PurpleAir can give a better idea where the really localized poor air quality is. When AirNow was reporting 260, PurpleAir was reporting numbers over 400, sometimes as high as 497, which I think people just start dropping like flies if they breathe that in. Use both to get the full picture. It was crazy, it sort of hooked right around your area and nailed us. Starting to smell like campfire again.

Here in Rochester we had the worst air quality on the planet. All that smoke plume has moved south and east.

Walleye here stack up that time of year. If they're prime money maker, that rule makes sense.

The biggest LMB I've seen out of this lake was 8-05. The biggest SMB was 7-6. Both caught in a tournament by the same same team.
