  1. What is the line slapping? The blank or the guide?
  2. Denny is an all time favorite of mine. Jigs, T-rigs, and crankbaits are what I associate him with.
  3. Pledge Multi Surface Cleaner works for me, as well as monitors and TVs
  4. That's awful.
  5. Laying around is the least expensive!
  6. If you can, set the hook earlier.
  7. A pool thermometer works as well, and has a closer range to what we find on bass lakes.
  8. I did just okay with my commander 140 in creeks and current. I think that it's just a length issue, being 14' long it can get in it's own way in tight waters. A 120 would probably be better for small water. My Hobie Compass is just 12', tracks well, and since it's got a rudder, maneuvers just fine in tight quarters. I bomb big baits in it as well. I think most brands' 12 models are a good mix of stability, tracking, and maneuverability. It's really a test drive situation, though.
  9. 4600 pc. Two manuals with 970 steps, so with all the other pages, probably around 1100 pages. There is also a podcast for each of the major assemblies.
  10. That's what I like about the Hobie Compass Mirage Drive, It's only 75 lbs. and is very quick. I've gotten over 6 mph, but that was with a TON of effort. Usual speed is 4 mph.
  11. Me too! Also, long cast spools have been around since the 80s. They seem to come in and out of marketing fashion. I've never felt they affect the cast good or bad.
  12. FeelFree has always had stability in mind. I like fishing out of a Moken 12.
  13. You can try a new gas cap, but it sounds like the carb needs rebuilding/replacement. I replaced the one on my rider and now it works like a champ. Was doing the same thing you are complaining about.
  14. Did you try Daiwa?
  15. You can make a lot of knackwurst on that beast!
  16. I wouldn't call it user error, it's just that emails from certain domains with a word like "sales", "service", or "donotreply" in them get scrubbed assuming they're junk. You have to add the domain to the safe senders list.
  17. Anyone that follows me on FB knows I've been building the Lego Bugatti. Thought I'd post a look back the transmission build. It shifts, and has working syncros.
  18. That has NOTHING to do with them and everything to do with the email provider/client/anti virus.
  19. I have a JDM Zillion I just picked up that is 40+ IPT. I plan to put it on my spook/popper/jerkbait rod. This can be a bit tiring, and although I've said it doesn't matter speed, technique wise, I do hope it makes it a little easier.
  20. Here's the hull on a Hobie Compass. You can see that there was some thoughtful design put in here. The stern recess is low profile, but protects the rudder when stowed. That little black piece is a replaceable, sacrificial strip, so you don't wear a hole in the hull loading and unloading. Also note the Lowrance Ready transducer pod. The dual sponson design aids tracking, but also provides a ton stability for stand up fishing. Let's see some of your hulls, and talk about what amkes it "good" for you.
  21. Keep in mind, readings off the graph are for surface temps.
  22. Any Ragetail bait on a heavy Jika rig is money in milfoil, if you're trying to penetrate the thick stuff. I make my own, using heavy flipping hooks, split rings, and 3/4 to 1.5 oz. pencil weights made for trolling. I like Rage Craws and Lobsters the best. It works:
  23. I wish I knew where they went in summer, for Tx season. Ny then, that lake is a dink fest. Better to go to Conesus. Springtime Honeoye: And yeah, we should definitely hook up for a day on the water. Just sold my Bullet, so I'm land/kayak bound for now.
  24. Honeoye warms up first. Seen some good reports there, and Conesus. Jerkbaits and spinnerbaits. Welcome to the 585.
  25. I caught so many on Sunday, I pinched the barb down, and was just letting them shake off. No sense in dealing with their prickly fins!
