  1. Guys call it baby bass. Not sure if that's what a bass sees, but they work so well for me, especially pre-spawn.
  2. Jeez man, you gave away my secret color! Next thing you'll be spilling the beans about smoke/purple flake. I mean...oops!
  3. This could be interesting. If a dusk bite picks up, and it's close, there could be some tension. I like it.
  4. White is a great color for senkos. Not sure what they represent, but they work.
  5. Done, bud. Give it some time to merge, and your reputation and old posts will be back, and the old account goes away. Welcome back!
  6. Your reel is working fine. You have to thumb the spool as the lure hits the water. This is basic baitcast reel operation.
  7. @CrankFate wins the interwebz today!
  8. Alright guys, that's enough.
  9. No one wants to run over a kayaker, but there has to be some additional accountability for leaving the scene, and hiding the evidence. It's truly sickening to me.
  10. Sounds like the only struggle this guy had was buffing out the blood stains. Did your friend leave the scene and try to hide the evidence? Look at this video. You want to know how it happened? The driver wasn't paying attention. I'm not buying your victim story, AT ALL.
  11. If you can remember the old username, PM me. I can try to get your old posts back.
  12. That's a Kahle hook. This is a circle hook:
  13. I do not use circle hooks. I use Gamakatsu Wide Gap Finesse hooks, and wrist-flick hook set. I don't lose too many this way.
  14. I'm almost always in deeper water in my kayak. I like to fish deep breaks, typically around 12-17' around here. In a most basic sense, look at a map, and pick areas that are just off the main weed line and where the depth lines are close together, near deeper water. Trust me, pick 5-6 spots, and fish these. You keep putting in this work, and you'll be rewarded.
  15. I've never understood these products - a guard to protect something that protects the prop. I guess you could hide a badly damaged skeg with one, but if it was that bad, it's not that expensive to repair.
  16. And what's up with the jeans? Cotton kills.
  17. Nice chatting behind the scenes. This is good news for our northern members. Any reports on their customer service?
  18. Just order a Screwball, RAM graph mount, and deployment arm from Yakattack. I put my battery in a small drybag. No need to make it too complicated.
  19. I've worked on both models. I own four of the Shimano reels. They're simply a better constructed reel. That's not to say the XT is any slouch. You'd probably be happy with either.
  20. You have to be on fish that are biting, have the right bait, depth, and speed to trigger a strike. If all that is satisfied, then short of the gear failing, or incapable of getting the fish in, I'm gonna say no, it isn't really a hindrance. That said, a more sensitive stick, matched with good line, and better reel will up your odds of detecting the strike, delivering the hook set, and landing the fish. It will also be more enjoyable. I'm not talking about really high end gear. More like that $120 rod and $150 reel price point. That's where you get the most bang for your buck.
  21. $850 will get you a GREAT used pro level kayak. Keep your eyes peeled. As always, get some seat time to see if it suits you and is comfortable.
  22. I'm replacing my old bag with one of these: https://www.planomolding.com/fishing/tackle-bags/guide-series-hydro-flo-tackle-bag
  23. The skeg is sacrificial, and that small amount of wear will not affect performance. Think of it like a bumper for protecting your prop. You scrap it before your prop. Nice clean repair Jaime.
  24. Seems the guide train is not high enough off the blank. Definitely a design flaw. I'm surprised I haven't heard about it more on here? I agree, it's SUPER annoying. Any line slap. I made the mistake of putting 10# Fluoro on a spinning rod years ago, and it slapped during the cast, drastically reducing the distance. I think you want to take you spinning reel into a shop, and try it on a new rod to test before you buy.
