  1. You need a crimper for over 60#.
  2. Not off topic. Dumb cocktail blues will get you every time!
  3. The responses here are hilarious. @BassBlowup354 as you can see, most reels can throw any line, within reason. You'll be fine with 12-20# fluoro. 2# or 100# would not work so well.
  4. Not mine. Though, the Great Lakes are kind of like an ocean. But you could say the same about stripers as well. Fun fact, back when they considered a solution for all the alewife in the GL, stripers were one of the species considered. I almost wish they went that way.
  5. I've had steelhead do that. It's very disappointing.
  6. That's an understatement. Never caught a land locked, but I have caught many a king and coho...no smallie, no matter how big compares.
  7. Are we talking bass or time signatures likely used in Rush songs?
  8. If it's a general purpose rod, I spool up with 15# Invisx. That would be around 20 or so set ups that currently own, and they are are various medium, medium heavy, heavy, fast or x-fast rods. My drop shot rods all have 6# Tatsu on them, except one that has 15# braid 8# Blue Label leader. My deep cranking rods have 10# Tatsu. Any jig rods that I use in heavy weeds have 50# braid. My topwater/jerkbait rod has 30# Tuf-Line Supercast. My swimbait rods have 20# CXX. The "specialized" rigs listed comprise a much smaller set of tools. If I don't need anything special on a rod, then I'll use 15# Invisx. That better?
  9. We're done here. Plenty of resources for spools have been listed.
  10. Cortland Toothy Critter leader has worked for me. I've also use very heavy saltwater fluoro leaders.
  11. ? Check out Jim K's underwater footage. Here's a good one:
  12. I've either been fishing or with someone fishing as far back as I remember. My first memorable bass, the one that got me hooked on targeting bass, was probably when I was around 10. I caught what my grandfather declared was a huge bass. It was probably around 6 lbs. I remember it being over 20" long. We didn't weigh fish back then. I ate that fish, and it tasted terrible.
  13. Yes. Pike will eat anything. Pike are VERY territorial. There's underwater footage of them attacking divers. Same with musky. You're welcome, and welcome aboard!
  14. My take on whether ANYTHING we do in the water near a bass matters: sometimes, but maybe not. Some days, I've watched bass swim away when light fluoro hits the surface near them. Other times, they're attacked my leader knot - no joke. I think this a behavioral variable that must be observed when it happens in order to say yes or no. That I get bit without leaders using bright pink braid isn't proof that it doesn't matter, sometimes.
  15. It's been pinned for a while now.
  16. Back when I wanted spare spools for Daiwa reels, I called Daiwa direct and ordered them. They were less than $25, but that was a decade ago.
  17. Look familiar?
  18. Where I fish, bass and pike's ranges intersect in spring and fall. Since pike are the dominant predator, many of the top, cooler spots are seized as their territory, and bass are driven off. I've fished prime pike spots, and never caught a bass. I've fished other spots, not conducive to pike where it's nothing but largemouth. Conversely, while pike will drive off smallies, it's not unusual to catch both when fishing for either.
  19. No, probably wouldn't bother. Been in enough of them to know they do not suit me at all. I dodn't answer you, yes, my AT is a Ergo bent shaft. It's very comfortable, and doesn't roll away when you set it down.
  20. Rarely, but sometimes you run into a pack on the hunt. I was mostly speaking of green fish.
  21. I though the largest were 250. I have no issues with mine set to about 230 in a 31" boat.
