What's to chew on? That's exactly how insurance works. I pay to insure my vehicle, but haven't made a claim in decades. I pay for enhanced short term disability, but haven't ever been on it. If I ever need it, it's there. You put in to the basket of funds, and if you need it, you can take from the basket. If too many take from the basket, then rates increase. That said, I most certainly take more than I pay on the health insurance side. If I didn't have that access, I'd be dead. Chew on that. I don't like the system any more than you, but it's all we have.

I have used up to 80#, but really 50# has worked just fine.

Interesting. All the glass boats I've ever heard of used a clear gel coat then color gel in the molds. The only one I've heard of doing it differently is Vexus, and that's a new process altogether. And no, I didn't read the entire thread. I just know what I went through. Lucky for me, Bullet was able to supply me with the exact flake mix for any repairs, and Great Lakes Marine did a great job with the repairs. I think all said and done, it was around $1200.

Automotive clear coat doesn't stick to gel coat. Somone tried this on my Bullet, before I owned her, and I had to have clear gel coat applied at a marine fiberglass repair shop.

I do various smoothies in the morning. I don't mind even the veggie ones, like spinach or avocado, since there's a always some banana in them.

When I was out of work, the American Diabetes Association helped me with getting the insulin and supplies I needed.

I ask the same thing about Type 1 diabetics, which I am. The cost is insane. I hit my out of pocket max back in April. My FSA was empty by February. Co-pays and fees quadrupled this year.

I love the spinnerbaits. Get the wire tied version. The skirts last forever.

I had Siebert Outdoors make me a little, puffball jig with a trailer made of living rubber. Worked great without a trailer. I bet Mike would make you the same thing if you ask. They were no more than his regular jigs.

Don't know much about Schroon Lake. I fished the river a couple falls ago, and caught plenty of smallmouth and some monster blue gills. I'm thinking short of down riggers and trolling gear, you could use a heavy jigging spoon, if you were to locate lakers on the graph. On Canadice Lake (deep and clear), we were able to hook up with a few lakers trolling deep diving crankbaits. Good luck!

I use straight fluoro when fishing finesse baits like a Ned. I go woth 6# Tatsu, so I'd think any 6-8# line would work for you. I have a one (of six) DS setup that I use in light weeds that has 15# braid, and usually an 8# leader that works well.

I use braid all the time without as well, but I will add a leader if I think it will make a difference, or I don't want all that strength from braid, but want all the other characteristics, like no stretch, limp line. One example would be for fishing jigs in trees. Adding a leader, say 10# fluoro to 50# braid, for fishing jigs in lay downs makes sense. If I get hung up, I can break off without too much commotion. The bonus is being able to feel the connection knot when your line is draped over a branch. If I know I have a 4' leader, when I feel the knot, I about when the jig will hit the branch and I can use more finesse to get it through.
