  1. Those google eyes are at least $1.20!
  2. I don't have $60 sheets of cabinet grade plywood scraps laying around. Have you priced any of this out, if you had to buy it all? I built a 5'x4'x14" kicker ramp for my son. Materials was over $120. Nothing cost pennies. It helps if you price things out as if the person you're showing how to build it doesn't have any of the materials "laying around." I would bet that this ran closer to $150, if you had to build from scratch.
  3. Me neither. Often, I use an underhand pitch to make a 20' cast, especially if fishing on a drift. I'd rather pitch in front of the drift than drag behind.
  4. Berkley motor oil Powerworms look green on most waters I fish.
  5. That looks like more than $20 in wood, fasteners, glue, and various parts. What's the cost to someone that doesn't have the materials laying around?
  6. If I'm using the reel for review purposes, it get no maintenance. A reel I bought for myself, might get fished a few times, but I'll inevitably tear it down, and run my own lube strategy, based on usage and performance out of the box.
  7. Nice and clean. I love that you added fuses. I would NOT have put port and starboard colored markers on it. Other vessels might mistake you for an actual boat and not steer as clear as they might if they thought it was a canoe or kayak, with the one bright, white anchoring light, as specified by USCG rules. p. 29 fig. 7 https://www.uscgboating.org/images/420.PDF

  9. I was fishing for thoughts on casting angles, but your observation is interesting.
  10. You're basically cutting down the time waiting for the bait to get through empty water, from the surface to where ever you think the fish are biting. Turn 30' into 4' with a drop shot rig. For us northerners, it's like fishing in November or April.
  11. Are you a weeds guy or a rocks guy? I like LC LV500 for weeds, and Spro Aruku Shad for rocks.
  12. In theory, it should keep the pinion in better alignment, and more accurate clutch engagement/disengagement. It remains to be seen. There are 30 year old Curado Bantams in use by tournament pros that have NO BEARING to support the pinion. It rides on the spool shaft. No, the pinion rides on the spool shaft. The yoke pushes the pinion up the spool shaft when depressing the thumb bar. A bearing supported pinion should also influence less wear on the shaft when releasing the spool, but I don't think I ever ran across a worn out spool shaft either. All that said, there's no denying smoothness of Daiwa's set up, or what SHimano calls X-ship.
  13. Out of curiosity, how many consider sun angle before color when fishing clear lakes?
  14. Very true. I would not spend one cent on a home gym or gym membership, but I have no problem paying in flesh at the skate park. Pretty sure the net gain is the same for my own expectations. I don't think the skate park alone would meet yours. It keeps me in shape, and it's fun for me. Just gotta figure out how to mount 8' Talons to my deck to keep me upright.
  15. Do you recommend Talons or Power Poles with that unit?
  16. I look at it this way: if you don't have a color, and someone else does, then you are missing sales. Some angler is going to buy another brand, even though they might like your bait, because you don't have "their color." GYCB seems to fall in this category. They have a billion colors. I only carry 2-3 colors of senkos, and I might buy another brand if they had smoke purple flake, and GYCB did not.
  17. This is how you fish a senko in 20'+ of water. Not every time. And really, who cares? Untangling and retying after catching is better than fishing without a bite any day.
  18. They typically occupy clearer waters, so it's a fair point.
  19. I always felt a pinion bearing helped preserve the spool shaft it rode on more than helped with gear alignment.
  20. My motivation is envy, lol
  21. When we go out to eat, after everyone is done, we do the plate rotation, and the human dumpster takes over.
  22. I rarely add salt to my food. Most of it comes with the salted butter, if that's in the recipe.
  23. I wish him a speedy recovery. It's been almost 8 years since my little CV event. The changes aren't all that hard. It's juts a mindset.
  24. Florida has a pretty robust fish farming industry that includes both food and tropical fish farming, as well supplying the scientific community. Ekk-Will is one of the largest facilities. You might start there. I'm thinking that this would be more lucrative than native species, but you might be able to pply it to native species. Juat not many people farming what naturally occurs without much human intervention. Now, pond/lake management is another story. You can pursue a degree in fisheries biology/management at many universities. This would be a prerequisite for any kind of venture of this sort.
